The month of January marks my third year as the editor of DOS. I hope the improvements are self evident. More importantly, I hope that the blunders which jump off the page at me right after I hit the send button do not detract too much from the overall finished product and that the majority of you do not notice/mind them. In school, my grammar was likely to get a ruler to the hand by the nuns, my sentence structure caused guidance counselors to proclaim “science is in your future” and when I was forced to take creative writing the aftertaste of the product was like having ingested castor oil. So the first thing I needed to do was come up with a title for the column and I found myself like Snoopy staring at the typewriter with only “it was a dark and stormy night” to go on. 19 January 2011 In "Editor’s Garage” , Bill Slone wrote that he tried to convince his wife Kathy that atotal garage makeover wouldaddmore value totheir house thannew windows. However, the windows won. For some reason, his quest for an award winning garage design worthy of a photo spread in Road & Track could not compete with the rotting wood in their picture window. The month feature article was Jac Fought’s unique winter driving tips. Jac Fought is a rarity among modern Porsche owners. Jac’s 2008 Basalt Black Carrera S Cabriolet is his daily driver. His ONLY daily driver. Sunny day? Put the top down and drive the Porsche. Driving rain storm? Leave the top up and drive the Porsche. Winter snow storm? Jac drives his Porsche in any weather condition because that is the only car he owns

May 2011 In the "Editor's Garage", Bill Slone realized that this month's edition stretched to 48 pages( a record that stands to this day-Ed.) and he had to cut out some articles. Frank Todaro stated in his Track Events Committee report that Situational awareness (SA) is being aware of what is going on around you. And this doesn’t mean what the car right in front of you is doing. It means knowing what all of the cars as far ahead of you as you can see are doing. It also means knowing what is going on behind you and the sides of your vehicle. If you know that there are cars ahead of you wrecking or slowing down, you can prepare for it. If you know an emergency vehicle is coming up from behind you, you can prepare for that, also.

January 2012 MORPCA recently received this dispatch from MORPCA member Chip Henderson, who is in Afghanistan. Chip says that the normal drive through town involves dodging giant pot-holes, over-loaded busses, maniac taxi drivers, three-wheeled scooters, pedestrians and livestock. There are no traffic control devices – or rules. The locals usually respect the big guns though.Usually.The first Trickle Charged Saturday of the season was held at Jeff Brubaker’s immaculate Kraftworks garage, located in nearby Marengo, OH. The featured guests of the day were representatives of Brad Benin Lubricants.
