The trustees give their time freely and receive no remuneration or other financial benefits. The trustees meet together approximately every six weeks and are responsible for all policy decisions and for staff employment. These policies are reviewed regularly and, where necessary, are brought up-to-date when new legislation comes into being or in order to further the aims of the Charity. The day-to-day management of the Charity is delegated to the staff. Recruitment and appointment of trustees The existing trustees are responsible for the recruitment of new trustees but in so doing the trustees seek the recommendations of staff and volunteers. In selecting new trustees, we seek to identify people who can bring their expertise, contacts and knowledge to the Board for the benefit of the aims of the Charity.

In 2017/18 the amount schools receive each year has doubled. Key Indicators - The Department for Education vision is that all pupils leaving primary school are physically literate and have the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary to equip them for a healthy lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport. The objective is to achieve self-sustaining improvement in the quality of PE and sport that delivers high quality provision of a balanced and holistic PE and school sport offer. There are 5 key indicators that schools should expect to see improvement across: the engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity - the Chief Medical Officer guidelines recommend that all children and young people aged 5 to 18 engage in at least 60 minutes of physical activity a day, of which 30 minutes should be in school the profile of PE and sport is raised across the school as a tool for whole-school improvement increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils increased participation in competitive sport Funding - Individual schools will receive circa £16000-18000 per annum (depending on the number of pupils) which they can use to support these outcomes through various options including; staff CPD, employing specialists to work alongside teachers, cluster work with other schools and partnerships, transport, equipment, hall and pool hire etc.

  • Richard Lander School Bulletin
RICHARD LANDER SCHOOL BULLETIN 12th October 2018 Message from the Headteacher Dear Parents The first half term has been characterised by lots of success on the sporting front. Perhaps the finest moment this term has been the crowning of our Greenpower team as international Greenpower champions for the second year. This is the result of a years’ worth of racing, involving over 600 cars nationally and internationally. Local and regional heats determined the starting line-up of the finals and we were delighted to be starting the final races in pole position, with our car performing most consistently over the season. After two races in quite trying conditions, our team emerged victorious and we held on to the title which we won last year. Well done to all students who took part and to the staff who have given up so much time to support this: Mr Lloyd-King (lead member of staff), Mr Merrick and Ms Whitfield. A couple of further points: We have had a few inclement days recently and are aware that some students do not wear a waterproof jacket to school. Some students wear a regular hoodie over their school uniform, but this is not sufficient if it is raining. Please can parents ensure their children always come to school wearing a waterproof jacket Some parents have enquired recently as to what homework their children are being issued. Can I refer parents to my bulletin message at the start of term, which can be found on the school website. Parents can access all homework for their children on the Show My Homework website.
