Information Classification: CONTROLLED RETURN TO SCHOOL Children return to school in September 2020; Cornwall Council has worked with bus companies on the arrangements for travel. Consideration has been given to social distancing requirements and this has necessitated some changes to bus services to ensure that adequate seating capacity is provided. In meeting these requirements the Council has determined that 84 of its 1400 supported bus journeys need to exclude travel by the general public and be made Student Travel Only. Dedicated closed school contracts will be running as normal. The table below identifies those peak-time journeys within the Council’s supported bus service network.     Richard Lander School Admissions Policy Richard Lander School follows the Local Authority Admissions Policy and, along with all other LA schools in Cornwall, places on transfer from primary school are allocated by the County team who follow the agreed Common Admissions Policy. The policy complies with the School Admissions Code 2014, the School Admission Regulations 2008, the School Standards and Framework Act 1998, the Education Act 1996 and CornwaII Council’s Fair Access Protocol and offers admission to students irrespective of social, racial or religious considerations. The Governing Body, however, reserves the right to consider each applicant individually. This applies particularly to any student who has been permanently excluded from another school, both within this Local Authority and within any other. Children with a Statement of Special Educational Needs that names Richard Lander School will be admitted to the School, regardless of the number on roll in the year group. The school will participate fully in the Cornwall Local Authority’s Fair Access Protocol (See Appendix 1). Children in Care who are directed to the school by the Local Authority will be admitted to the school, regardless of the number on roll in the year group. Our ‘published admission number’ is 270 students in years 7-11. These figures relate to the 2015–16 academic year. It is essential that parents realise that there is always a high demand for places at Richard Lander, consequently once the school year has commenced, the preference for specific subjects in Years 10 and 11 cannot always be met. All applications for school places at Richard Lander School must be made to Cornwall Local Authority.

Important Dates for your Diary Ours is the only school in the county which has an annual carol service in the SATURDAY 1ST DECEMBER Cathedral and we are very grateful for this privilege.     TRURO & PENWITH COLLEGE Excellence in Education Science Technology Engineering Mathematics Welcome Since Truro College opened in 1993, it has maintained a reputation as one of the best tertiary colleges in the sector. Truro and Penwith College was established in April 2008, following the merger of Truro College and Penwith College. It is one of the newest, and fastest growing colleges in the country, boasting state of the art facilities and new purpose-built buildings. The new White Building offers a centre for Art and Design, whereas the Seaton Building is a new facility for Automotive, Construction and Engineering. Truro and Penwith College has celebrated over twenty outstanding years and been named as the Best Further Education and Tertiary College in the UK by a recent Sunday Times survey. David Walrond, Principal at Truro and Penwith College said: “accolades like this one from The Sunday Times do make us collectively very proud indeed.” We focus strongly on excellence in teaching and learning, as well as personal support, to provide all learners with the best possible experience. STEM at Truro and Penwith College STEM encompasses all of the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics subject areas. Our STEM provision at Truro and Penwith College is based upon a foundation of strong subject development.     24th May 2016 Dear Parents/Carers, As we approach the half term break, I am pleased to be able to write to you to bring you up to date with all that has been happening at saltash.net since the start of the summer term. Exam season is, of course, well and truly upon us now, with years 10, 11 and 12 all taking some of their GCSE and A Level examinations before half term and Year 13 joining them from the start of June onwards. Although we hold ‘official last day’ events for both Years 11 and 13, all students sitting exams are still able to participate in and make the most of our extensive revision programme which will be running throughout the duration of the exams as well as over the half term holiday. We have all been so impressed with how our young people have approached their exams this summer, especially those students who have experienced major challenges and difficulties in their home or personal lives over the past year. We are full of admiration for them and also pleased that our school has such a strong pastoral support network in place to help guide and intervene when necessary. We wish all students sitting exams this year all the very best. As we regularly say to our students, academic success is very important but so too is how they are developing as well rounded individuals who appreciate and demonstrate the values at the heart of our school: Respect, Responsibility, Compassion, Honesty, Fairness and Perseverance. At the recent May Fair in Saltash, a number of members of our local community (including those who live close to our school) came up to tell me how impressed they were with the behaviour and conduct of our students – not just what they read about them in the local papers, but also when they see them around Saltash.

The outcomes for trainees 1 The quality of training across the 1 partnership The quality of leadership and 1 management across the partnership Information about this secondary partnership Cornwall Secondary School-Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) is a well-established partnership which provides a route to teaching in the outermost corner of the South West. The partnership consists of 23 secondary schools, a special school, alternative provision units and a tertiary college. It offers training for the 11 to 16 age range with post-16 enhancements. The partnership also offers training for the 14 to 19 age range with additional Key Stage 3 experience for selected subjects.
