WORK CONTINUES ON THE ASTOR PLACE/COOPER SQUARE RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT The NYC Department of Design + Construction (NYCDDC) continues work on the Astor Place/Cooper Square Reconstruction Project. This project will reconstruct the streetscape surrounding Astor Place and Cooper Square. On behalf of NYCDOT, DDC will install permanent pedestrian plazas on Astor Place and Cooper Square, along with a new design for the Triangle Park. Park will have improved plantings, seating and lighting. The City will also install new drainage, curbs and sidewalks, and reconstruct several area streets. This project commenced in the summer of 2013, and is anticipated to be completed by the fall of 2015.
