It is surrounded by six other nations: Mali to the north, Niger to the east, Benin to the southeast, Togo and Ghana to the south, and the Ivory Coast to the southwest. As of 2014, it had an estimated population of 17.3 million people. It is home to 42 people per square kilometer. The capital of Burkina Faso is Ouagadougou. This country is made up of two types of land. Majority of the country is covered by a peneplain, with a few isolated hills. However, the southwest of the country is the opposite. It forms a sandstone massif and houses the highest peak in Burkina Faso—Mount Tenakourou. At an elevation of 749 meters (or 2,457 ft), Mount Tenakourou stands out in the relatively flat country which averages an altitude of 400 meters. Mount Tenakourou The country we know as Burkina Faso was formerly known as the Republic of Upper Volta up until 1984. It owes its former name to the three rivers which run across it. The Black Volta, the White Volta, and the Red Volta. The Black Volta is one of only two rivers which flows year round and is a primary source of water to many animals, and sadly, people.     1 Ghana GEOGRAPHY, CLIMATE AND POPULATION Ghana is situated on the west coast of Africa with a total area of 238 540 km2. The country has a north-south extent of about 670 km and a maximum east-west extent of about 560 km. It shares borders with Côte d’Ivoire to the west, Burkina Faso to the north, and Togo to the east. To the south are the Gulf of Guinea and the Atlantic Ocean. The country is divided into 10 administrative regions. The topography is predominantly undulating and of low relief with slopes of less than 1 percent. Despite the gentle slopes, about 70 percent of the country is subject to moderate to severe sheet and gully erosion. The highest elevation in Ghana, Mount Afadjato in the Akwapim-Togo Ranges, rises 880 metres above sea level. There are five distinct geographical regions: • The low plains, stretching across the southern part of the country. • The Ashanti Uplands, stretching from the Côte d’Ivoire border in the west to the elevated edge of the Volta Basin in the east. • The Akwapim-Togo Ranges in the eastern part of the country consist of a generally rugged complex of folded strata, with many prominent heights composed of volcanic rock. The ranges begin west of Accra and continue in a northeasterly direction, finally crossing the border into Togo. • The Volta Basin occupies the central part of Ghana and covers about 45 percent of the nation’s total area. The basin is characterized by poor soil, generally of Voltaian sandstone. • The high plains in the northern and northwestern part of Ghana, outside the Volta Basin, consist of a dissected plateau.

February 2004 Water Resources and Environmental Management in Ghana Kwabena KANKAM-YEBOAH*, Philip GYAU-BOAKYE**, Makoto NISHIGAKI*** and Mitsuru KOMATSU*** (Received December 3, 2003) Three principal river basins are found in Ghana and the Volta River Basin is the major one, covering about three-quarters of Ghana. The basin is shared with Mali, Burkina Faso, Cote d'lvoire, Togo and Benin. Water from the Volta River Basin is used for drinking water supply, generating hydro-electric power, irrigation, inland fisheries and lake transport. The sustainable management of the Volta River Basin is thus of great importance. Land use activities in the basin are thus closely monitored not only in Ghana, but also in the other riparian countries as well. This paper presents information and data on the water resources and environmental management of the Volta River Basin in Ghana.   • Kakum Natioanl Park & Assin Attadanso Resource Reserve
    Kakum Natioanl Park & Assin Attadanso Resource Reserve Kakum and the Assin Attandanso reserves constitute a twin National Park and Resource Reserve. It was gazetted in 1991 and covers an area of about 350 km2 of the moist evergreen forest zone. The emergent trees are exceptionally high with some reaching 65 meters. The reserve has a varied wildlife with some 40 species of larger mammals, including elerpahnats, bongo, red riverhog, seven primates and four squirrels. Bird life is also varied. About 200 species are known to occur in the reserve and include 5 hornbil species, frazer-eagle owl, African grey and Senegal parrots. To date, over 400 species butterflies have been recorded. The Kakum National Park is about the most developed and subscribed eco-tourism site among the wildlife conservation areas. Nini Suhien National Park & Ankasa Resource Reserve Nini Suhien National Park and Ankasa Resources Reserve are twin Wildlife Protected Areas that are located in the wet evergreen forest area of the Western Region of Ghana. These areas are so rich in biodiversity that about 300 species of plants have been recorded in a single hectare. The areas are largely unexplored but 43 mammal species including the bongo, forest elephant, 10 primate species including the endangered Dina monkey and the West African chimpanzee have been recorded. Bird fauna is also rich. The reserves offer very good example of the west evergreen forest to the prospective tourist. The Mole national This park was established in 1958 and re-designated a National Park in 1971. It covers an area of 4,840 km2of undulating terrain with steep scarps.

BACKGROUND & CONTEXT The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MGCSP) as a responsible institution to coordinate the implementation of the country’s social protection system has proposed the establishment of the Ghana National Household Registry (GNHR), as a tool that serves to assist social protection programs to identify, prioritize, and select households living in vulnerable conditions to ensure that different social programs effectively reach their target populations. The GNHR involves the registry of households and collection of basic information on their social- economic status. The data from the registry can then be shared across programs. In this context, the GNHR will have the following specific objectives: a) Facilitate the categorization of potential beneficiaries for social programs in an objective, homogeneous and equitable manner. b) Support the inter-institutional coordination to improve the impact of social spending and the elimination of duplication c) Allow the design and implementation of accurate socioeconomic diagnoses of poor people, to support development of plans, and the design and development of specific programs targeted to vulnerable and/or low-income groups. d) Contribute to institutional strengthening of the MoGCSP, through the implementation of a reliable and central database of vulnerable groups. For the implementation of the Ghana National Household Registry, the MoGCSP has decided to use a household evaluation mechanism based on a Proxy Means Test (PMT) model, on which welfare is determined using indirect indicators that collectively approximate the socioeconomic status of individuals or households.

The Broadcasting service is a communication service in which the transmissions are intended for direct reception by the general public. The sound broadcasting service involves the broadcasting of sound which may be accompanied by associated text/data. Sound broadcasting is currently deployed in Ghana using analogue transmission techniques: Amplitude Modulation (AM) and Frequency Modulation (FM). Over the last two decades, AM sound broadcasting has faded, leaving FM radio as the only form of sound broadcasting in Ghana. FM radio broadcasting stations are classified for the purpose of regulatory administration of the service towards the attainment of efficient use of frequency. The following is the classification of FM radio broadcasting stations in Ghana. (1) Classification by Purpose: a) Public – all stations owned and operated by the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) and/or any other station established by the Government of Ghana by a statutory enactment. b) Public Foreign – stations established by Foreign Governments through diplomatic arrangements to rebroadcast/relay content from foreign countries e.g.

In addition, these single mothers will be able to 1 take care of the basic needs (medical care, clothing, and feeding, academic materials) of their children. The young teenage girl who will also go through the training will become useful to herself and the society, rather than indulging herself in prostitution with bad behaviors BACKGROUND AND HISTORY Nkwanta south Municipal occupies the north-eastern part of Ghana and the northern part of Volta Region. It is counted to be one of the most deprived towns in the Oti region. It occupies the north-eastern part of Ghana and it is one of the Municipal with the most difficult terrains in the Oti Region.
