Sage, Spin Doctor Barron, Heaton, play Eddie's by Al Kaufman Rachael Sage is not a diva. Yes, she dresses in beads and baubles, and often appears in feather boas and red fishnets. Yes, in addition to being a pianist and singer/songwriter, she is also a ballerina and painter. And yes, she is so accomplished in all these areas that she has every damn right to be a diva; but she is not a diva. Instead, when she is on stage, she is prone to telling deliciously rambling, self-effacing stories about her relationship with her Jewish mother. Her gorgeous piano melodies swirl and twirl more than Stevie Nicks did in her prime, yet, at her last Atlanta show back in May, when she found out Indigo Girl Emily Sailers was in the audience, she was too nervous to even meet her. She instead had her publicist give Sailers a free copy of her lates t CD, the pop nugget, Chandelier, and spent the rest of the night frettin g about whether or not Sailers would like it. This does not sound like a woman with enough chutzp ah to start her own record company, but Sage founded MPress Records right out of college. Besides her own 7 CDs, Sage has also relea sed a "New Arrivals" series of rising independent artists with proceeds going to charities. Volume three of the series was released on October 28th, and the proceeds will benefit the National Eating Disor ders Association. Sage is currently on tour to promote Volume 3 , but is taking two veterans of Volume 2 with her. Chris Barron is best known as the scruffy-faced lead singer of Spin Doctors, the band that had the gargantuan hits, "Two Princes" and "Little Miss Can 't Be Wrong," both written by Barron. The band broke up and Barron suf fered vocal chord paralysis. He was given a 50/50 chance of ever spea king normally again. Instead, he made a full recovery and release d the solo CD, Pancho and the Kid, with his friend, Jeff Cohen of Pancho's Lament. The CD showcases Barron's wide vocal range, as well as his maturity. Considered a sort of hippie goofball during his Spi n Doctor days, songs such as "Can't Kick the Habit" show a more thought- provoking Barron. Anne Heaton, the third performer in Sage's musical circus, is a Boston singer/songwriter by way of Chicago. With a soaring voice and beautiful -- but sometimes barbed -- lyrics, Heaton will have no problems holding her own against the two other stage veterans. With egos nowhere to be found, expect the three to play on each other's set and cut each other up with their stories and adlibs. These are three people who simply enjoy making, and listening to, music. Expect the audience to enjoy it even more. Jams and jokes –The Spin Doctors ‘Rock the Dock' Posted by TBN Editor On 08/03/2017 Spin Doctors and vocalist Chris Barron perform their signature hit "Two Princes." Chesapeake Beach, MD - It will take more than a sound system glitch to thwart the band the Spin Doctors in their pursuit of entertaining an audience. The blues rock band—originally called “Trucking Company” when they were formed in New York City during the late 1980s—performed Wednesday evening, Aug. 2 at Chesapeake Beach Resort and Spa as part of that venue’s 2017 Rock the Dock series. At an early juncture of the Spin Doctors’ performance a portion of the speaker system went silent. Hardly missing a beat, lead vocalist Chris Barron told the audience a few dog and pirate jokes. Fortunately, the system was quickly repaired and the jam session resumed. The Spin Doctors' moments in the limelight have included memorable appearances on the iconic television shows Saturday Night Live and Sesame Street. Their live show at the Chesapeake Beach band shell was well-received by the audience, many of whom stormed the front of the stage when the group performed their signature hit, the Grammy-nominated “Two Princes.” In addition to Barron, the group includes bass guitarist Mark White, drummer Aaron Comess and guitarist Eric Schenkman. The “Fat Whiskey Band” opened the show for the Spin Doctors, who resume their tour, which includes performances in Virginia Beach, VA at Neptune’s Park (Aug. 15) and Aug. 19 in Raleigh NC. The intermission featured something new at Chesapeake Beach Resort and Spa, as about 20 specially made T-shirts promoting the venue’s gaming facility, were tossed to the audience.

109! This Frame Positions Phish By
This frame positions Phish by indicating where they and various other bands fall in the Rolling Stone-defined hierarchy of music and culture, while providing reference points for processing and comparing information. This frame, combined with the next and its subframes, contributes to the continual construction of a rock and roll/jamband hierarchy that clearly defines the Grateful Dead at the top of a first generation, Phish clearly at the top of a second generation, and a third generation that apparently has no single leader, but a narrow pack of contenders. Further evidence arises in the discussion of the four subframes revealed through RQ2. This frame has always been present in coverage of Phish, as it is a common tool of music criticism. In particular, the frame has evolved such that Phish was once just a peer to fellow H.O.R.D.E. tour bands, such as Blues Traveler and Spin Doctors. As Phish’s success grew and they became “America’s Biggest Jam Band,” Dave Matthews Band appears to have become the group best suited for comparison as a contemporary peer, if even a cultural match and not a musical one. Meanwhile, Phish also became a more frequent reference in coverage of other bands. Despite persistent references to the Grateful Dead, coverage of Phish evolved to the extent that the Vermont quartet became an occasional reference in coverage of seemingly Phish- like successors. Through the same sort of vocabulary that often links Phish to the Grateful Dead, one article called Umphrey’s McGee “leading contenders for Phish’s jam-smeared crown” who were “odds-on favorites in the next-Phish sweepstakes” (Fricke, 2004, p.
