FC Barcelona are looking for a tenth straight UEFA Champions League home win when they host round of 16 rivals Arsenal FC. • Arsenal will hope to avoid suffering a hat-trick of defeats against Barcelona who beat them previously in two-legged ties in the UEFA Champions League in 2010 and 2011. • The Gunners, however, have a mountain to climb after 's late double in the first leg gave Barcelona a 2- 0 victory in north London – the fourth year in a row Arsenal have lost at home in the round of 16 first leg. Previous meetings • When the teams met in the 2010/11 round of 16, Arsenal came from behind to win the first leg 2-1, and overturning David Villa's first-half . • Barcelona recovered with a 3-1 second-leg success in which Messi scored twice. had briefly given Arsenal hope with a 53rd-minute own goal that made it 1-1 three minutes before Van Persie's dismissal. • The lineups for that second leg on 8 March 2011 were: Barcelona: Valdés, Dani Alves, Busquets, Abidal, Adriano (Maxwell 90), Xavi, Mascherano (Keita 88), Iniesta, Pedro, Messi, Villa (Afellay 82). Arsène Wenger's men had given themselves hope in the first leg by coming from two goals down to draw 2-2 through and Cesc Fàbregas (penalty). • Barcelona beat Arsenal 2-1 in the 2006 final at Stade de with Samuel Eto'o and scoring late on to overturn Sol Campbell's strike for an Arsenal side who lost Jens Lehmann to a first-half red card. • Luis Enrique scored in both matches when the clubs met in the 1999/2000 first group stage. The Barcelona coach found the net in a 1-1 draw at the Camp Nou and again in a 4-2 win at Wembley. 14 FC Barcelona - Arsenal FC Wednesday 16 March 2016 - 20.45CET (20.45 local time) Match press kit Camp Nou, Barcelona Head coach Luis Enrique Date of birth: 8 May 1970 Nationality: Spanish Playing career: Real Sporting de Gijón, Real Madrid CF, FC Barcelona Coaching career: FC Barcelona B, AS Roma, RC Celta de Vigo, FC Barcelona • Known for his versatility, Luis Enrique spent the bulk of his playing career with Spain's two most successful clubs having started out at hometown side Sporting Gijón. • Won the Liga and Copa del Rey with Madrid and Barcelona − whom he surprisingly joined on a free transfer from the Merengues in 1996 − and the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup and UEFA Super Cup at the Camp Nou, where he played under, among others, Sir Bobby Robson, and Frank Rijkaard. • A scorer of 12 goals in 57 appearances for Spain and an Olympic gold medallist on home soil in 1992, Enrique moved into coaching with Barcelona B in 2008, succeeding his former Azulgrana team-mate Josep Guardiola. • Appointed coach of Roma in June 2011 but held the post for just one season after a disappointing campaign. Resurfaced at Celta in summer 2013, leading the Galician side to a ninth-place finish in the Liga in his only season in charge. • Left in May 2014 and was soon announced as Gerardo Martino's replacement at Barcelona on a two-year contract. After a challenging first half of the season, 17 wins from 19 league games helped secured a Liga title with the Copa del Rey and UEFA Champions League following as Luis Enrique emulated Guardiola in winning the treble in his first season in charge. Arsène Wenger Date of birth: 22 October 1949 Nationality: French Playing career: AS Mutzig, FC Mulhouse, AS Vauban, RC Strasbourg Coaching career: RC Strasbourg (assistant coach), AS Cannes (assistant coach), AS Nancy-Lorraine, AS Monaco FC, Nagoya Grampus Eight, Arsenal FC • Not the most successful of players, Arsène Wenger has more than made up for that as a coach, turning Arsenal into one of Europe's top teams. • Born in Strasbourg, Wenger worked at Strasbourg and Cannes before Nancy-Lorraine offered him his big break. He impressed sufficiently to be offered the job as coach of Monaco in 1987. • Within a year Monaco scooped the French title and Wenger the Coach of the Year award. He led the side to 1991 French Cup glory, then the 1992 European Cup Winners' Cup final where they lost to SV Werder Bremen. After reportedly turning down France and FC Bayern München, he moved on to Japan and enjoyed huge success with Grampus Eight. • Appointed by Arsenal in September 1996, Wenger became the first non-Briton to win the Premier League, in 1998, adding the first of five FA Cup triumphs. The Gunners lost the 2000 UEFA Cup final to Galatasaray AŞ but claimed another domestic double in 2002, and in 2003/04 played some thrilling attacking football en route to becoming the first team since 1889 to negotiate an English top-flight season unbeaten. • Wenger nearly topped all his achievements by taking Arsenal to the 2006 UEFA Champions League final, only for FC Barcelona to come from behind to win 2-1. Arsenal's move to their new stadium later that year was instigated by Wenger, who ended nine years without a trophy by guiding Arsenal to the 2014 FA Cup and retained the trophy a year later, the club's record-breaking 12th triumph in the competition.
