*denotes runs that are shared between schools Aggressive Approach Summary What Did Not Change: • Bus Stop Locations  Every bus stop remains in its location from the 2015-16 school year  Every student assigned to stops during the 2015-16 school year remain • Bus Stop Assignments & Eligibility Settings  Students assigned to any particular bus stop will remain  Eligibility distances, hazardous crossings, and special transportation accommodations remain • Transportation  This segment of the transportation system was not included in the analysis • Non-GPS School Bell Times  Every private and parochial school retains bell times from the 2015-16 school year  Arrival and departure windows are largely the same, +/- 5 minutes Aggressive Approach Summary What Did Change: • Bus Runs  Stops are in the same location, but may be assigned to a different run  One minute of “loading time” was added to each bus stop to improve run timing accuracy • Arrival & Departure Time Standardization  All buses now arrive and depart in a 10-20 minute window before/ after the bell  The variation depends on route timing with regard to previous or upcoming run • Elimination of Run “Mirroring”  The morning and afternoon runs are no longer identical in reverse • New Combination Runs  Some elementary school students now ride together on a single bus  Some private and parochial schools have new pairings The Bottom Line • Baseline = 65 buses • Aggressive Approach = 68 buses (+$270,000)  Consolidated runs  Tight windows for completing first, beginning second run  Less focus on service quality in some examples • Service Minded Approach = 74 buses (+$810,000)  Retains current levels of service quality  Does not change any runs or stops  Start and end times shifted based on new bell times • A Middle Ground is Viable  Aggressive and Service Minded approaches set boundaries  Compromises and tactical decisions will yield an in-between result  All assuming no further changes to bell times
