[email protected] Abstract This article provides relevant information about the algal flora of Jalgaon District, Maharashtra (India) and develops an outline of algal data bases of Jalgaon region, sites for algal studies, noticed and unnoticed algal rich area of Jalgaon district. The present comprehension of fresh and marine algae of world is considerable and numbers of algae are indentified and subsequently cultured. In contrast some information is available in literature but it is not compiled as a database. A total number of 539 taxa belonging to 4 classes are found in Jalgaon.The relative percentage of Cynophyceae, Chlorophyceae, Bacillariophyceae and Euglenophyceae is 40.44, 41.55, 10.38 and 7.60 respectively. The taxonomy and morphological study given by earlier researchers but still there is lot of scope to elaborate information about the algae of Jalgaon region regarding on physiology and biochemical aspect, antimicrobial activity and methods of algal cultivation. Keywords: Fresh water algae, Taxonomy, Phytonic and Jalgaon Introduction Maharashtra algal studies were started in 1847 when Griffith describes fertilization in Eudorina elegans collected from the pools in Bombay. In 1933, Borgesen worked on fresh Jalgaon District is located in the North-West region of the state of Maharashtra. It is and marine algae of Bombay. Khads College, Muktainagar, Jalgaon(Maharashtra) _____________________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT The survey on Aflatoxin Awareness And Assessment Of Muktainagar Taluka i n Jalgaon District, (Maharashtra) was carried out during the year 2012-13 to create awareness among the people and assessment of it through questionnaire method. A questionnaire of fifteen different questions was prepared. In this survey study, data was collected from thirty four villages of Muktainagar Taluka. Total two hundred fifty questionnaires sheet were sorted village wise and pulled data information about aflatoxin awareness and assessment is done. Among the thirty four villages 81 questionnaires were collected from Muktainagar, 30 from Anthurli, 28 from Taroda , 15 from Naygaon and 10 from each Kothali, Hartala and Wadave and from other twenty seven small villages one to seven questionnaires were collected. Out of 250 individuals surveyed 14% were S.S.C., 36% were H.S.C., 33% and 06% were found graduate and post graduate respectively. The individuals who have obtained other qualification were found 11%. In the occupation status it has been observed that 08% were engaged in service, in business it was 09%, in agriculture it was 34% and the people involved in other business were found 49%. In consumption of oil it was found that 55% family utilized less than 5 Kg.

Accepted 13 August, 2009 Banana (Musa paradisiaca) is a popular and important commercial fruit crop grown in tropical and sub tropical part of world. Jalgaon district in the state of Maharashtra, India is one of the largest producers of banana which contributes about 44% of banana production in the state. Hence, Jalgon district was selected for this study. The cultivation of banana is mainly concentrated in Raver and Chopda sub regions (tahasils) in Jalgaon district. Therefore these tahasils having highest acreage under banana plantations were selected purposively for the present investigation. The banana fruits fetches price depending on size in the market. The size of fruit is measured in terms of weight of bunches and number of hands per bunch at the farm level. The bunches are graded according to weight grade A (above 15 kg), grade B (13 - 15 kg), grade C (11 - 13 kg), grade D (9 - 11 kg) and grade E (below 9 kg). Marketing management of banana is an important activity along with production. This study will be useful to banana growers in knowing the importance of various management practices, specifics markets, their marketing cost and price spread in marketing channels preferred by them. Of these 23 taxa are reported for the first time from Maharashtra, 10 are additions to Indian desmids and 3 taxa, Euastrum bombayense var. minor var. nov., Euastrum spinulosum var. major var. nov., and Cosmarium contractum var. ellipsoideum f. major f. nov., are new to science. Jalgaon, Maharashtra the authors collected 88 taxa of desmids of which 36 taxa are described in this paper.
