I’m sure you will all join me in thanking all involved with the Circus Field event for an outstanding weekend. Here in Gloucester we are working flat out to get the National Waterways Museum up and open for July 29th. Should anyone get the chance to visit our museum following that date you will find a whole new and interesting apologies as I shall be away with Pauline concept on displays, interactives and celebrating a minor birthday of hers. explanations. I just hope we meet the target date! Enjoy your boating during the rest of the year. May I wish you all a splendid Autumn Gathering at Alvecote and please accept my From the Editor Here comes summer – well our summer edition anyway [!] – which continues in full colour format, despite the change to a new size. Members I spoke to at the Rally were pleased with the new format which is now business as usual. We will be addressing the contrast issue with black and white photos in the Autumn edition, it is only an additional step or two in reformatting the images from colour originals. The Rally, which was a great success, is now history as the team look to preparations for 2017, though it features highly in this edition. Aylesbury Canal Society have a location and building to be proud of and should be on all boaters’ bucket list of places to visit. Even the basin at the end of the canal is well worth the trip, where you can trolley out your Waitrose shopping direct to the boat and then visit the theatre or Wetherspoons. Elsewhere within, we have a volunteer for the administration and finance role; part 2 of Arabia’s DM2 installation and an update from Monty Vann’s National rebuild. Here’s to hoping we will see some decent boating weather soon.! Round House While rising in Atherstone top lock, I noticed the use of curved bricks on the corner of the lock keeper’s house [no longer, sadly!]. I hadn’t really looked at other times but it stood out for some reason. All the other walls appear to have the normal design of brick, like the modern example behind. Maybe they had a few dozen left after building the locks! Full range of of RN Spares and service items available from stock together with engines on display at Hillmorton.
