MASTER HEALTH CHECKUP SCHEME
The Government in their G.O.Ms.No.341/Health & Family Welfare dated 02.07.1999 have introduced the “Master Health Check up Scheme” in all Government Head Quarters Hospitals in Tamilnadu.
Main Features of the Scheme :
01. The Master Health Checkup is free to all the low income people. The others have to pay Rs. 250.00 for their checkup.
2. The following checkup will be done under this scheme.
1) Registration Fees -- Rs. 20.00 2) X-Ray -- Rs. 20.00 3) ECG -- Rs. 20.00 4) Heemogram -- Rs. 60.00 5) Blood Sugar, Urine etc., -- Rs. 30.00 6) Liver Function Test -- Rs. 50.00 7) Ultra Sonogram -- Rs. 50.00 Total -- Rs.250.00
03. A separate file consisting of 12 pages with the details of all investigations done and the reference further treatment is being given to all persons on completion of checkup.
4. The amount of Rs. 250.00 collected from the patient is being utilized for Hospital Stoppage
( Rs. 100.00) and for the Hospital Maintenance (Rs.150) Performance :
The Scheme is being implemented in the Government Head Quarters Hospital, Periyakulam with effect from 01.10.1999. A separate room is allotted Doctors and Nurses are posted. The importance and implementation of the scheme was published in DINAPOOMI – daily Newspaper. The notice board was displayed in the premises of the Hospital.

The District Collector, Theni Thiru.Athul Anand, I.A.S., inaugurated the opening Ceremony of C.T. Scan service on 24.05.2002.
Whole body C.T. Scanner of AUKLET model of TOSHIBA imported from Japan, with the accessory Automatic Film Processor Imported from Germany was installed by the TNMSC Limited, Chennai at Government Head Quarters Hospital, Periyakulam asper G.O.(3D) No.5, Health dept. dated 09.03.2002.
Total cost of whole body C.T. scanner with all accessories is Rs.73,90,000/-
The Charges for taking C.T. Scan are as follows :
01. For In – Patients – Plain – Rs. 500.00
2. For Out-Patients – Plain—Rs. 500.00 -- for contrast an additional amount of Rs.200 will be collected.
If the contrast Scan is taken within 7 days after Plain Scanning an additional charge of Rs. 200.00 alone will be collected.
If the contrast is taken after 7 days, the charges collected will be Rs.500+300 for In- Patients and Rs. 500+300 for out Patients.

One Medical Officer and One Health Visitor are working in the STD Clinic. VOLUNTARY COUNCELING AND TESTING CENTRE (VCTC)
The VCTC is functioning in Government Head Quarters Hospital, Periyakulam w.e.f. 01.10.2001 as per orders of the Project Director, Tamilnadu State Aids Control Society, Chennai. One Medical Officer, Two Counsellors and One Lab Technician are working in the VCTC.
The basic estimates involved in the VCTC is a confidential discussion between the client and trained counselor and the focus is on emotional and social uses related to possible of actual HIV infection. Pre-test counseling and testing and post test counseling and testing provided in the centre. A sum of Rs.10/- is being collected from the patient for testing.
The Tamilnadu State Aids Control Society has sanctioned budget from the year 2001-2002 to till date.
PREVENTION OF PARENTS TO CHILD TRANSMISSION

CEmONC Centre will be start functioning at Government Hospital, Bodinayakanur as per G.O. (2D) No.84 H&FW/Dept dated 17.07.2008
PATIENT’S COUNSELING CENTRE :
As per G.O.(2D) No 66 H&FW Dept. Dated.29.8.05, It was implemented from 01.12.2006 onwards and it was run by NGO’s upto September 2010. From October 2010 onwards it is run through Patient Welfare Society.
EMERGENCY AMBULANCE SERVICES :
As per G.O. No.(2D)67 H&FW Dept Dated.29.8.05 it was implanted from April 2007 onwards through out the district with 8 Nos. of Ambulances and all the 8 vehicles are surrendered to EMRI. It was converted as 108 Services ( Emergency Management Research Institute) from February 2009 onwards and running more effectively.
MORTUARY VAN SERVICES :
As per G.O. No.(2D) 64 H&FW Dept. dated 29.08.05 Mortuary Van
Services were implanted from April 2007 onwards and it was handed over to EMRI on December 2010. It will be converted as Free (Hearse) Mortuary
Van function as early as possible as per G.O.(Ms) No.342 HFW (EAP1/1)

PILOT PROJECT ON CERVICAL CANCER SCREENING AND TREATMENT
As per G.O. No. (2D) 65 H&FW Dept. Dated 29.08.05 Cervical Cancer Screening Treatment programme was started from 15th November 2006 onwards and running continuously.
HOSPITAL MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS :
All Govt. Hospitals in Theni district functioning HMIS. The OP ticket was computerized in all Govt. Hospitals and Training was given to all Doctors and other Paramedical staff also.
BIO MEDICAL WASTE MANAGEMENT :
All Govt. Hospitals in Theni District functioning Bio Medical Waste Management disposals (CTF Operators Payment ) from September 2008 onwards and functioning continuously.
NCD PROGRAMME (NON-COMMUNICATION DISEASES )
NCD progrmme will be stared from July 2011 onwards in Theni District. Staff Nurses were appointed for the above programme.
