How Do I Print Spine and Pocket Labels? Destiny Help How do I print spine and pocket labels? Destiny lets you print copy labels individually, for copies you're adding, for those added after a certain date, or for those in a Resource List. Important: You must have version 5.0.5 (or higher) of Adobe® Reader® to print labels. Make sure to configure the Page Handling options on the Print dialog of Adobe. How do I print a single label or labels for copies I'm adding? How do I print several labels? What do the labels contain? What label stock can I use? How are the labels on the sheet numbered? In what order are the labels printed? The printing is not centered on the label. How do I correct this? Some of the labels are blank. Why? How do I print a single label or labels for copies I'm adding? 1. From Add Copies in the Catalog, select the Print Labels check box and click . From Edit Copy in the Catalog, select the Print Labels check box and click . From Copy Status in Circulation, click after retrieving a copy record. 2. On the Print Copy Labels page that appears, select the spine/pocket label check box, and choose the label stock and the starting label. Depending on the label stock you choose, Destiny prints a spine label, or spine, circulation, and pocket labels. 3. Click . 4. When the Report Manager opens, click View to open the label report. 5. After positioning the label stock in your printer, use Adobe Reader's toolbar button or menu command to print the labels. (back to the top) How do I print several labels? To print an entire group of spine—or spine and pocket—labels, open the Library or Media page of Reports and select Spine/Pocket Labels. You can print labels based on the contents of a Resource List or Copy Category, a file or list of barcode numbers, or the acquisition date and time of the copies. 1. If you're a district cataloger, select the district or a single site from the For list. Note: If you select the district, the printing is limited to the first 1,000 qualifying labels. In addition, you cannot base the printing on a Barcode List. 2. From the Sort by list, select a sort order for the copies- by Call Number or Date/Time Copies Added. 3. From the Based on list, select a method for identifying the copies to include: List: If you have multiple Resource Lists, select the one needing the labels. To review the contents of the Resource List, click . http://destiny.esc11.net/...n/servlet/presentgenerichelpform.do?filename=backoffice/help/spinelabelform_overview.htm#stock[9/27/2010 8:32:34 AM] Destiny Help Copy Category: Select a copy category from the list. If you're a district cataloger running the report for a school, you can select a category specific to either your district or the school you chose. When running the report for the district, you can select only district categories. Barcode List: Either create a new list, or select an existing barcode file: To create a new list, place the cursor in the Create a barcode list box and scan the barcodes, or type them in and click . To remove a barcode number from the list, highlight it and click . To select an existing file, click Browse to locate and select your file. Date/Time Copies Added 4. If you chose Date/Time Copies Added, enter a beginning date and time next to From and an ending date and time next to To. Click for a calendar. Enter the time in the following format: <hour>:<minute>. Example: 7:00 You can omit one or both of the times to have Destiny use the beginning or ending of the From and To dates, respectively. If you chose List or Copy Category, you can also enter a date and time. This allows you to further limit the printing. If you leave it blank, Destiny ignores the dates the copies were added. 5. Select your label stock and the starting label. 6. Select the font size for the spine labels. You can choose a 10, 12, or 14 point font size from the Call number font size box. The font is Arial Bold. Please note that this selection applies only to the call number on the spine labels, not the volume number or copy number, nor to pocket or circulation labels. 7. To generate the labels, click . 8. When the Report Manager opens, click View to open the label report. 9. After positioning the label stock in your printer, use Adobe Reader's toolbar button or menu command to print the labels. (back to the top) What do the labels contain? The spine labels contain the copy's call number and any volume or issue descriptions and numbers, and any copy number included in the copy record. If the call number is longer than the label width allows, Destiny breaks the number at the first space, or at a decimal point. For the best labels, make sure you purchase the label stock that accommodates your call number size. The circulation and pocket labels contain the call number, author, and title. (back to the top) What label stock can I use? You can use any of the label stocks listed in the tables (below). Stock from other vendors may work as well. Make sure to print a test page on plain paper and adjust the offsets as needed. Note: Destiny allows you to print three of the label stocks (Demco 5 by 11, Demco 8 by 6, and University 8 by 6) in a vertical orientation. This option is not provided for label stocks that are nearly square. Destiny counts labels from left to right, then top to bottom. To start printing on a label other than the first one on the sheet, set Start on label to the label number where printing should begin. The labels print in call number order. For district catalogers who are printing labels for the entire district, the labels are first sorted alphabetically by library, then by call number. (back to the top) The printing is not centered on the label. How do I correct this? Use the Printer offsets to fine-tune the alignment of the printing on the labels. The Horizontal and Vertical offsets let you adjust the left and top margins, respectively. Each increment is equal to 1/10th of a millimeter. Keep in mind that the offsets needed for each label stock vary from printer to printer. Tip: The first time you select a label stock, print a few tests on plain paper to ensure that the printing is aligned correctly. When you print, Destiny saves the offset settings you used so that you do not have to set them again. For the Horizontal setting, locate your stock in the following table and enter a number within the allowable range: Minimum Maximum Item # setting setting Spine Labels Demco 14216170 or -34 34 14217240 Demco 14216190 or -36 36 14217250 Demco 14218020 or -18 18 14217280 Demco 14218030 or -18 18 14217290 Sagebrush -36 36 0370-00000009 University 9-62450-12 or -16 16 387-115L or 377-115LPS Spine/Pocket Labels Demco -68 67 14216180 http://destiny.esc11.net/...n/servlet/presentgenerichelpform.do?filename=backoffice/help/spinelabelform_overview.htm#stock[9/27/2010 8:32:34 AM] Destiny Help Demco -18 18 14216850 Demco -16 16 14971370 University -16 22 342-SL4L or 377-SL4LPS University -22 22 342-OS6DL or 377-SL6LPS or 387-SL6L University -48 64 9-62450-15 or 342-2000LPS For the Vertical setting: Minimum Maximum Item # setting setting Spine Labels Demco 14216170 or -34 34 14217240 Demco 14216190 or -36 36 14217250 Demco 14218020 or -18 18 14217280 Demco 14218030 or -36 36 14217290 Sagebrush -13 13 0370-00000009 University 9-62450-12 or -36 36 387-115L or 377-115LPS Spine/Pocket Labels Demco -18 18 14216180 Demco -36 36 14216850 Demco -26 11 14971370 University -40 37 342-SL4L or 377-SL4LPS University -50 50 342-OS6DL or 377-SL6LPS or 387-SL6L University -36 36 http://destiny.esc11.net/...n/servlet/presentgenerichelpform.do?filename=backoffice/help/spinelabelform_overview.htm#stock[9/27/2010 8:32:34 AM] Destiny Help 9-62450-15 or 342-2000LPS Note: Any offsets you define for spine labels are in addition to the unprintable area defined in your printer's properties.

Mapping a WebDAV network drive Once your server meets the requirements, you need to map a network drive in your operation system that will be pointing to your web server. There are two ways how this can be done: Mapping the network drive in Windows command line Mapping the network drive in Windows Mapping a network drive in Windows command line 1. Open Windows command line (press [window]+R, type cmd and click OK). 2. Type the following command: net use x: http://<your_domain>/cms/files The x: part of the command determines which letter will be used for identification of the network drive in your system. Instead of x, you can use any letter that is not used for another drive yet.The <your_domain> part of the command needs to be replaced with the domain name of your website. So, for example, if your website is running on http://www.example. com, you would need to enter 'net use x: http://www.example.com/cms/files'. Similarly, for http://localhost/Kentico, you would need to enter 'net use x: http://localhost/Kentico/cms/files'. Mapping a network drive in Windows The following procedure is demonstrated on Windows 7. In other versions of Windows, it may be slightly different, while the principles and the entered values remain the same. 1. Open Windows Explorer. 2. Rightclick the Computer in the left menu and select Map network drive. Alternatively, you can click the Computer and select the Map network drive action from the top menu. 3. In the Map Network Drive dialog, adjust the following values: Drive - select the letter that will be assigned to the network drive in Windows.

You have chosen a path that will be challenging but also highly rewarding. In addition, you are taking on a role that is being shaped to meet the increasing rigor and expectations required by New York City Public Schools. The New York City public school system is our nation’s largest: over 1.1 million registered students; more than 1,800 schools in operation, citywide; 80,000 Teachers and Teacher- related positions, assisted by over 23,000 Paraprofessionals, all of whom share the goal of improving outcomes for students. The role of a Substitute Teacher has evolved from being merely a coverage person, to one that provides quality classroom instruction in an on-going basis. You are an integral part of the student learning process. The same high standards and accountability expected from permanently assigned Teachers, are also expected from you. The following understandings and expectations should guide you as you take on assignments: • Continuation of student learning, along a continuum established by the permanent Teachers and school leaders, as your primary focus; • Establishment of your professional presence and exuding self-confidence in your role; and • Demonstration of effective instruction, consistent with school norms and classroom management.
