All persons entering the showground must have personal and Public Liability Insurance. The Show will not be held responsible for any damage, loss or injury to animal, person or property whilst on the showground. Under NO Circumstances must anyone other than the Judge, Stewards, Competitors and grooms enter the show rings. 2. The Judges’ decision is final. Any objections must be made, in writing, within one hour of the class/incident and handed to the Secretary with a deposit of £30. 3. The Committee reserve the right to amalgamate, cancel or divide classes as entries warrant. 4. The Committee reserve the right to alter judges if required. 5. The Committee reserve the right to return or refuse any entry made either by post or on the day. 6. Under NO circumstances will entries be substituted and any refunds will be totally at the discretion of the committee and will be subject to the £10 admin charge. 7. In the event of postponement all entries will be carried over to the new date unconditionally. 8. In the event of cancellation, refunds MUST be requested in writing (NO emails) and should be sent with a SAE enclosed to the Show Organisers within 28 days of the show date and will be subject to a £10 admin charge. 9. Mountain and Moorland ponies will be shown in accordance to the Breed Society rules. 10. In-foal mares may be asked to produce a certificate of service. Three year old fillies with foals at foot may not be shown, all foals must be a minimum of three weeks old. 11. Stallions may not be led or ridden by children under the age of 12 years in accordance with NPS rules and must be licensed in accordance with breed society rules. 12. All trophies will remain the property of the show and must be signed for. They will be held for the remainder of the year and must be returned to the show upon request. 13. In the interest of safety, excessive assistance or interference from outside the ring will not be tolerated. 14. The Show Organisers reserve the right to carry out random dope testing. 15. Dishonoured cheques will incur a £10 administrative fee and may result in entries being refused in the future. 16. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times. Any dog caught off the lead will result in a £10 fine. 17. Please use the bins provided for litter and no mucking out of horseboxes onto the show field. 18. No animal suffering from a contagious disease may be brought into the Showground. 19. There will be no holding of any classes; competitors enter multiple classes at their own risk. 20. This show is open to registered M&M Native Ponies. Photographer and Catering will be on site throughout the day. Can't believe we are in the final quarter of 2020. It's been a unique year to say the least. Lots of new challenges for sure. Last week we had beautiful weather and the trees were just outstanding in there fall colors. Today as I write this, there's a strong wind stripping the leaves from the trees and temperatures are predicted to drop into the low teens tomorrow night...and it's not even Halloween yet! Not ready for water tank heaters and pony blankets! Though a lot of events had been canceled, the ACPS committees have been using the time to regroup and come up with new ideas to promote our ponies and membership. There should be some new information about these things in the next magazine. They have also been working on improving and updating the webpage. Lots of new things are in the works, so stay tuned and check out the magazine. Check out our public Facebook page which can be found at: American Connemara Pony Society - Region 8 that everyone can post to. It currently has 287 followers. Not bad considering there are about 16 Region VIII members. So it's a good place to promote our ponies. Don't forget to send information for the “Meet the Members” blurb.

    List of horse breeds 1 List of horse breeds This page is a list of horse and pony breeds, and also includes terms used to describe types of horse that are not breeds but are commonly mistaken for breeds. While there is no scientifically accepted definition of the term "breed,"[1] a breed is defined generally as having distinct true-breeding characteristics over a number of generations; its members may be called "purebred". In most cases, bloodlines of horse breeds are recorded with a breed registry. However, in horses, the concept is somewhat flexible, as open stud books are created for developing horse breeds that are not yet fully true-breeding. Registries also are considered the authority as to whether a given breed is listed as Light or saddle horse breeds a "horse" or a "pony". There are also a number of "color breed", sport horse, and gaited horse registries for horses with various phenotypes or other traits, which admit any animal fitting a given set of physical characteristics, even if there is little or no evidence of the trait being a true-breeding characteristic. Other recording entities or specialty organizations may recognize horses from multiple breeds, thus, for the purposes of this article, such animals are classified as a "type" rather than a "breed". DALES PONY THE GREAT ALL-ROUNDER Story and photography by Kelly Davidson Dales Ponies were bred in the Yorkshire Dales of England in the 19th and early 20th centuries as pack ponies for the lead industry in the Pennine Mountains. As railways emerged and road systems improved, pack ponies were slowly phased out, but the Dales found a niche on the small farms in and around Yorkshire. With their unusual strength, and sensible natures, they offered great advantages to the small farmer and his family. In the early 1900’s, a Welsh Cob stallion named Comet was crossed to many high quality Dales mares, passing on a more free-moving shoulder and increased athleticism. The resulting stylish ponies, with their famous powerful and eye-catching trot, were unmatched in trotting races and provided a fashionable carriage drive into town for the family.

The breed originated in Kerry but it is now found all over Ireland. The numbers however are very low and the breed is still critically ▲ Photo: Liz Sugar endangered. It has a fine intelligent head with large kind eyes. It has a strong and well set on neck with a rounded shoulder and compact body. The pony is clean legged with very little feather to its heels. It has good bone, with short cannon bones, short pasterns and upright hooves. The Kerry Bog Pony is extremely hardy, resistant to many equine diseases with great powers of endurance. Its temperament and versatility make it an excellent children’s pony and it can be used ▲ Photo: Gay Keogh by adults for carriage driving and as a pack animal. Though an ancient breed it was only officially recognised by the Department of Agriculture and the European Union in 2004. Photo: Pascal Lando BREED STANDARD SIZE: This is a small pony evolved as such because of its use as a draught animal in the bogs of Kerry over the centuries. Thus, the height of the Kerry Bog pony is 102 cms - 117 cms for Stallions and Geldings and 102 cms - 112cms for Mares. COLOUR: Any strong whole colour is to be found, but colour is generally brown or brownish black and bay. Some chestnut, grey and dun colours are also to be found. COAT: The coat of the Kerry Bog Pony is long and dense and easily capable of withstanding harsh winter conditions without shelter.
