Even though we're well beyond back-to- school, we automatically start thinking fall come mid-August. Thankfully, New Haven still boasts a strong collection of independent boutiques that have a distinct point of view and a handle on their customer. We always here for fall shopping jaunts, and have profiled a few of our must-sees for this list. 20 Years of Women's Tennis in New Haven

Experience the on-court action and the off-court fun of the Connecticut Open presented by United Technologies. The tournament features a week-long festival of off- court activities that include live music, local food trucks and specialty foods, kids’ activities, and more.

Events include ShopRite Kids Day on Sunday, August 20, Opening Night Ceremony presented by Yale on Monday, August 21, Courtgirls & Cocktails on Tuesday, August 22, Princess & Superheroes Day on Wednesday, August 23 and Military Appreciation Day on Saturday, August 26.

To help celebrate 20 years of women’s professional tennis in Connecticut, legend Martina Navratilova will play a mixed-doubles set with Mats Wilander on Monday, August 20. The men are back with John McEnroe, , and Mark Philippoussis for the PowerShares Men’s Legends Series.
