Find BHP in the Abergavenny Hall! www.elk-promotions.co.uk Show No. Year Make Model Cc / HP Classes Entered - BSA Gold Star 500 n/a Bike Details: Scale model of this eponymous classic! 1903 Werner Pre 1950 Overseas Bike Details: 1904 Humber Olympia Tandem F 3.5 Pre 1950 Bike Details: With original registration number. 1912 Hazlewood - 293 Pre 1950 Bike Details: One of only three single-cylinder Hazlewoods known to exist. 1912 was the first year of manufacture. 1913 Triumph C 500 Pre 1950 Bike Details: This bike has taken part in many runs including four Sunbeam MCC Pioneer Run, Banbury, Golden Era. It has a three-speed Sturmey Archer rear hub and clutch which makes riding it a lot easier. Best pre-1950 machine at our Ashford Show on Easter Monday 2017. 1913 Zenith Gradua 90 Bore 996 Pre 1950 Bike Details: Built at Weybridge, Surrey, to the special order of Hal Hill, it lived on Monument Hill, Weybridge until 1953 when it was obtained by the present owner. Used by Hal Hill at Brooklands and many long-distance rallies before & after the First World War and last used by him in 1925. Fitted with the Gradua Gear, designed by Freddie Barnes in 1908 and fitted by Zenith until 1925. Zenith were barred from competing in the same classes as machines without variable gears, hence from 1910 the Zenith Trade Mark included the word BARRED. Capable of about 70 mph on the track, it's fitted with the JAP sidevalve engine, with 90mm bore x 77.5 stroke. It also has the large belt pulleys giving a variation from 3 to 1 in top gear, down to 6 to 1 in low gear. Rebuilt in 1964 and used by the current owner in VMCC events. 1925 Levis T3 211 Pre 1950 Lightweight Bike Details: Levis were manufactured by Butterfields of Birmingham, for many years one of England's leading manufacturers of two-stroke motorcycles. 1926 AJS G6 TT Replica 348 Pre 1950 Competition / Special Bike Details: Factory built 'Racer on the Road' replica of the works TT Race bikes, for private owners as a race and fast road machine. Based on a G6 'Big Port' using catalogued race parts to produce a road-going replica of the works TT race machines. The 349cc 'Big-Port' AJS was the most successful race machine of the twenties, even winning the 500cc Senior TT in 1921. This example was raced when new into the 1930's and retained its original, very apt, Devon registration number when restored in 2005. Since restoration, it's been used on club runs, hill climbs, sprints and events at Brooklands museum and Kop Hill Climb. A twist-grip throttle and ball-ends to the levers were fitted to comply with modern ACU competition regulations. 1926 Zenith Blackburn Model 20 Pre 1950 Competition / Special Bike Details: Raced at Brooklands from 1926 to 1928 by FC 'Freddie' Millar (Millars Motors of Mitcham). 1927 Norton 18 490 Pre 1950 Bike Details: Recently restored, this 1927 model 18 has been on a long road to get to this condition. Found 15 years ago completely dismantled in many boxes. Made in Selly Oak, Birmingham. Fitted with a period sidecar. 1929 Excelsior Brooklands Race 250 Pre 1950 Lightweight Bike Details: This machine was discovered in a shed and rebuilt by Flat Tank Engineering after being dormant since before WWII. Very little is known of its past history. Believed to have been raced at Brooklands and Gatwick speed trials before WWII. A similar machine lapped Brooklands at 102 mph in 1933. First time at this show. 1930 Indian 101 Scout 750 Pre 1950 Overseas Bike Details: Restored mainly in Sweden, using many original parts. This bike was exported to Sweden from new so has the European specification Bosch headlight, charging & electrical system, which were fitted on import. The American & UK machines were fitted with standard Indian equipment. Fitted with hand gear change, foot clutch and a left-hand throttle. The Scout was popular for its handling, speed/weight ratio & versatility, and considered the flagship of Indian motocycles. 1931 Royal Enfield GS 350 Pre 1950 Bike Details: 1932 Norton International 500 Pre 1950 Competition / Special Bike Details: Reassembled from a basket case by the late Bernard Harding. It's brilliant fun to ride, like riding a moving thunderstorm, springing oil instead of water! First time at this show. 1937 Velocette KSS MK II 350 Pre 1950 Bike Details: 1938 Panther 100 Redwing 600 Pre 1950 Bike Details: The Panther Model 100 was introduced in 1932 and remained in production until 1963. Fitted with a Steib sidecar. This bike is ridden to every run and show, and is never trailered. Regularly competes in the Sunbeam MCC Graham Walker Run based at Beaulieu Motor Museum in Hampshire. From home that's 90+ miles each way, not including the length of the run. No mean feat, and with my mate Brian in the sidecar! 1938 Royal Enfield JM 1938 Pre 1950 Bike Details: Recent restoration to near original specification. Enfield produced two versions of the model J, the standard model J had coil ignition while the JM model had magneto ignition. First time at this show. 1938 Rudge Sports Special 500 Pre 1950 Competition / Special Bike Details: The Sports Special 500cc model was introduced in 1937, production ceased in 1939. This example has been rebuilt twice, first time from a basket case where parts were missing, the second time after an accident in 2000. 1939 Ariel W/NG 350 Pre 1950 Bike Details: An ex WWII army machine restored to civilian specification nearly 20 years ago. It has covered over 22,000 trouble-free miles since restoration. VMCC member. 1939 Norton 18 490 Pre 1950 Bike Details: Been in the same family ownership since 1951. 1939 Norton ES2 490 Pre 1950 Bike Details: This machine has been in the same family since 1947, with original rear suspension. 1941 Matchless WD G3L 350 Pre 1950 Bike Details: The G3L was first made in 1941 and was equipped with telescopic forks to supersede the G3.
