She has two boys at U12 and U9 level and the eldest Joe is a Surrey Performance cricketer. Nicole is a keen scorer and often wears a white floppy England cricket hat which I gave her. Please be good enough to find the time to chat with her on a Friday night at the club she is a keen runner and business woman in recruitment. Ben her husband is a keen golfer/sportsman and football coach. The support Nicole has given has funded the provision of a greater number of ECB qualified coaches available on club nights. This has greatly helped Chris Smith and Brian Berthoud our best coaches to make sure that all boys and girls receive the best possible coaching from U5’s upward. Other match funding provided by Nicole has gone toward joint purchasing equipment for developing skills at earlier ages. This includes the 3 bowling machines, the fielding machine and Junior bowling machine as well as the tennis tutor for the very younger ones. By far the most important outcome of Programmes help has been the ability of the club to provide extra coaching to the many age groups throughout the club which in turn has led to the results already mentioned above. As we enter another busy year for the club with winter nets nearly half way through now we know that with Nicole’s help we have earnt the right to play the game to the best of our ability in the wonderful surroundings that is Horsley and Send Cricket Club. The Area The area in question relates to the Civil Parish of East Horsley, with boundaries as shown on the map below:- Page | 1 Statement - Why the Parish of East Horsley is appropriate to be designated as a Neighbourhood Area East Horsley is a civil parish within the administrative area of Guildford Borough Council. East Horsley covers 740 hectares, lying between the parishes of Effingham, West Horsley, Ockham and Abinger. It abuts the parish of West Horsley on its western boundary but otherwise is surrounded by farmland and open spaces, some of which is Woodlands Trust (Great Ridings Wood) or Surrey Wildlife Trust (Holliers Wood). To the south of the Parish, there is the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, encompassing Effingham Forest on the North Downs. For planning purposes the village is completely in the Metropolitan Green Belt. The settlement area is semi-rural and is defined by Ockham Road North and South, Forest Road and Epsom Road (A246). To the south of the A246 the Parish is rural. The boundaries are shared with Effingham, West Horsley, Ockham and Shere. It has no post office, and is therefore defined as a hamlet. The infrastructure of both the Horsleys, East and West, would not cope with more than a small increase in housing numbers. I therefore hope that WHPC will be able to deliver a neighbourhood plan which will meet the needs of its residents, and provide sufficient housing to cater for local needs. It has been well documented by activists, including the Guildford Greenbelt Group, that there is no need to build on any of the green belt in the borough, as there is sufficient land in brownfield sites to meet the housing needs of the borough, and beyond.

Autumn has been fantastic and we have enjoyed getting out into the woods, admiring the Discover Christmas leaves on their trees. It made me wonder if that is really what people think Christmas is about. Here at St Mary’s, our theme this Christmas is ‘Light’. While the Bible looks straight at the world and the human heart, acknowledging its darkness without blinking, it also points us to the solution. It’s not Often we experience the Christmas period as a frenetic, Who is Jesus? He’s the ‘ever-lasting Lord’, who from more education, more science, more politics, more human effort or more ‘progress’.
