Job Description

Undercover Tourist is looking for an entry-level editor who is driven to write and edit digital website content for a large and growing e-commerce travel company that helps families plan and execute the best vacations. Our ideal candidate is someone with exceptional writing and skills, who has a couple of years under his or her belt in a digital or marketing environment. He or she also needs to have attention to detail, high reporting/writing standards, exceptional organizational skills, a can-do attitude and at least a basic knowledge of SEO and HTML.

The digital content editor will help manage our popular and authoritative , and likely have at least one other large-scale project at any given time, so he or she needs to be comfortable prioritizing tasks and switching gears as needed. Our family-friendly blog is penned by a family of frogs (yes, you read that right), so the digital content editor will help ensure our "voice" is conversational and hoppy. We are experts on Disney, Orlando and family travel —and we'd love it if our editor is too — but we're really looking for someone who loves family travel and has the right skill-set and enthusiasm to learn about these topics. As the digital content editor, you will be a key team member, helping us extend our travel expertise and coverage through your blog posts and detailed editing work.

You will also spend time building and improving our site content, including ride, entertainment and dining pages using our Content Management System. This is fun though detailed work — at times, it calls for inputting a high volume of content and data. You would need to understand the importance of SEO, and be willing to research and apply those best practices so that our content reaches the right audiences. The ideal candidate has a background in e-commerce, content marketing and/or digital . This role will draw from skills in all three. The right candidate will quickly master all of these skills and have room to grow and advance in their role and additional responsibilities.

Candidates will be required to take a editing test and given a writing assignment. This position would be based in our headquarters in Austin, TX. While we offer a fun, casual work environment, we take our mission seriously and want to ensure we're providing the most thorough and accurate information to readers.

Job Duties

• Serve as the primary editor of our blog posts and other content as assigned by the content director; you should be comfortable making improvements and challenging assertions — we need someone who is a stickler for accuracy and attention to detail! • Edit and review content to ensure it is clear, concise and on brand; while this is not a full-time writing position, you will occasionally write blog posts, promotional copy, newsletters and other content • Apply digital and SEO best practices to all content, and help convey our value proposition • Provide feedback to so we improve the quality of our work and meet deadlines

• Stay on top of theme park and travel ; be a subject matter expert on Disney and Universal, and additional city/attractions/destinations as assigned • Assist in the management of our editorial and content project calendar • Help manage our vacation planning tools and create a schedule so that data is getting regular review

Desired Skills & Experience

• 1-4 years of copy editing, ideally for an e-commerce or digital content team, with a focus on SEO, keyword optimization and other content marketing trends • Line editing — you can spot the "holes" in content and ask the questions readers will be asking • Copy editing — full command of AP style, grammar, spelling and punctuation • Experience writing and optimizing online content across platforms (web content, blog, newsletters, etc.) • Comfort working with blog platforms and content management systems; basic knowledge of HTML and Photoshop • Collaborative self-starter; has a willingness to learn on his or her own but not afraid to ask questions • Excellent communication skills and good follow-through • Genuine passion for helping families have their best vacations; upbeat, positive attitude!
