PARTICIPATION Rules & Regulations 2021
Dear participant, we kindly ask you to carefully read the rules and regulations of the 2021 Ballet Grand Prix Vienna – Online Edition prior registration.
DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENTS
The Ballet Grand Prix Vienna is an international dance competition hosted by the Vienna International Arts Festival. Due to the global pandemic, the events have been shifted to an online edition.
All activities will be organised and supervised by the organising committee of the Ballet Grand Prix 2021. The competition consists of a video-selection of the candidates’ solo dance variations, optional free workshops for all candidates and one obligatory live training for selected categories (For more, please refer to the section Workshop and live graded training). All events will be conducted via online live streaming with the platform ZOOM (Details regarding Zoom will be published within the following weeks).
GENERAL INFORMATION
• BGPV 2021 is open to professional dancers, professional dance students, as well as amateurs of all nationalities, ages 8-27 years old • Registration for the Ballet Grand Prix Vienna only via online registration portal possible • The first round will be graded and selected for the finale (Second round) • Participants have the choice to choose which category they wish to compete in based on their own evaluation (See all categories below) • All participants have the choice of performing in one or both of the following fields: - Classical Ballet: Variation must be chosen from the Classical Repertoire List below - Contemporary Dance: This field includes any open solo variation that features a different aspect of the participant’s skill and versatility as a dancer
NOTE: Due to Covid19 we are prohibited to allow group duos and Pas de Deux performances.
IMPORTANT DATES
• Opening of registration: 1st of June 2021 • Competition: 27th-29th of October 2021 • Finale: 30th of October 2021 • Mandatory live training for category B1 & B2: 27th-29th of October 2021 (Two different time for different time zones – CET and APT)* • Workshops: 27th-29th of October 2021* • Registration deadline: 20th of September 2021

REGISTRATION FEE All inclusive • Category D: 90€ • Category B1&B2: 75€ • Category A: 50€ • Category C: 80€
CATEGORIES
NOTE: Due to Covid19 we are prohibited to allow group duos and Pas de Deux performances.
Category D – Professional Dancers – Solo - Age 17-27 Two rounds • First round: One variation from the classical ballet repertoire list • Second round (Finale): One classical variation (you must choose a new classical variation) AND one neoclassical variation
Category B1 – Professional students - Age 12-14 Two rounds • First round: Mandatory training and one variation from the classical ballet repertoire list • Second round (Finale): One variation from the classical ballet repertoire list. You can either repeat the variation of the first round or perform a new classical ballet variation
Category B2 – Professional students– Age 15-19 Two rounds • First round: Mandatory live training and one variation from the classical ballet repertoire list • Second round (Finale): One variation from the classical ballet repertoire list. You can either repeat the variation of the first round or perform a new classic variation AND one neoclassical variation
Category A – Amateurs Solo – Age 8-24 Children I: 8-10 Children II: 11-13 Junior I: 14-16 Junior II: 17-24 One round with any kind of dance with a maximum length of 3 minutes (Ballet variations don’t have to be form the repertoire list)
Category C – Modern & Contemporary Dance Solo – Age 8-27 Junior: 8-18 Adult: 19-27 One round with any kind of modern & contemporary dance with a maximum length of 3 minutes

WORKSHOPS & LIVE TRAINING
Workshop (OPTIONAL) • The workshop is open and free to every participant from any category (Participants who want to take part, must select this option on the online application form).
Live Graded Training • Only categories B1 & B2 will have a mandatory live training. These are included in their first round of the competition.
PRE-RECORDED VIDEOS
For competitions round(s) • All participants must send us a pre-recorded video of their solo(s). Video(s) are in the category you participate (please read the section “Video Specification” below) • All rounds will be streamed and judged by a panel of judges • Participants who are selected for the finale will have their second rounds streamed
NOTE: Due to COVID19, all footages can be from within the last two years
VIDEO SPECIFICATION
If the government regulations of your country allow studio rentals, we recommend you record the solo(s) in a studio or on stage. If that is not possible, recording from home is also very much welcome. For the mandatory training and workshops, both options are suitable. In order to make it clearer for the judges to see the participant dance, we kindly ask you to consider the aspects regarding filming:
General specifications • Horizontal filming • Full HD 1920 x1080 resolution • Video file format: .MP4 • Raw version – no editing is allowed • No mirroring images of the participant • No marketing materials, such as logos, banners, are allowed to be seen in the video • A ballet floor is suggested when dancing at home

• Upon the online registration form, you will be asked to upload your video(s) • Please name your video file(s) as follows:

DRESSCODE FOR THE COMPETITION • Ballet: costume appropriate to the ballet variation performed (If the candidate does not own a costume, please wear a rehearsal tutu/skirt) • Contemporary: costume appropriate to the contemporary solo preformed
DRESSCODE FOR THE TRAINING • Females: Leotard, pink tights, soft ballet shoes (soft or point), ballet bun • Males: tight shirt, black/white/grey tights, matching ballet shoes
GRADING SYSTEM Competitions will be graded by overall impression by points from 1 to 12.*
REFUNDS BGPV has a NON-REFUND Policy. The registration fee per category is non-refundable for any reason whatsoever.
REPERTOIRE LIST Category B and D must choose their classical ballet variations from this repertoire list. Please only choose solo variations or the variations from the Pas de Deux.
