    Nendaz au moyen âge. (Communication à l'assemblée de la S. H. V. R., tenue à Nendaz, le 24 mai ig3i.) I. Aperçu général. Il en est de l'histoire de Nendaz comme de celle de la plupart des vallées latérales du Valais. Nos origines se perdent dans une nuit profonde. Touchant notre préhistoire, tout ce que l'on peut savoir, c'est qu'on a trouvé dans la région d'Aproz un tombeau à compar­ timents, de l'âge du bronze. Aucun autre monument n'éclaire notre passé antérieurement à l'ère chrétienne. A l'époque romaine, on peut admettre que les Sédu- niens et les Véragres se coudoyaient au pied de nos coteaux, dans la région de Baar et d'Aproz, et que ce sont là nos deux localités qui furent tout naturelle­ ment, de par leur situation même, habitées en premier lieu. La précieuse carte de Gabriel Walser, de 1768, indique en effet qu'il y avait là autrefois des Véragres. (Hic olim Veragri). Nendaz était essentiellement une terre de forêts qui fut, peu à peu et péniblement rendue à la culture, de vastes forêts à peu près vierges encore au VIe siècle, dans lesquelles gîtaient cerfs, chevreuils, ours, san­ gliers, tout le gibier à plume et à poil de l'époque. La colonisation dut se faire avec peine. Encore au XVIe siècle, dans la carte des sept dizains, d'après la Cosmo­ graphie de Sébastien Müller, alors qu'on y relève un grand nombre de localités du Valais, toute la région de Nendaz n'y est représentée que par un groupe de sapins, sans plus.

Cela nous a incité à faire part de nos observations. Nous y avons ajouté quelques indications relatives à la répartition de certaines plantes. Nous suivrons dans cette étude l'ordre et la nomenclature adoptés dans la « Flore de la Suisse » de Binz et Thommen. Les noms de lieux, ainsi que les cotes d'altitude sont ceux de la nouvelle carte nationale (feuilles normales 524 Rochers de Naye-W, 545 St-Maurice-E, 565 Martigny-E, 546 Montana-W, 547 Montana-E, 548 Visp-W, 549 Visp-E, 529 Jungfrau-E, et assemblage feuille 272 St-Maurice).

MORITZ – ZERMATT – GORNERGRAT Private de Luxe Train Railway journey through the Swiss Alps on the tracks of the legendary Orient Express This luxury train includes two original Pullman cars, built in 1931, which once belonged to the Cie. Int. des Wagons-Lits et Grands Express européens. The exquisite wooden inlay work in the carriages was carried out by renowned French cabinetmaker René Prou. For the sector from St. Moritz to Zermatt, the train also has a bar-lounge carriage built in 1928 and a luggage car from 1930. For lunch on board, two Gourmino dining cars, dating from 1929 and 1930, are added to the special train. All these carriages have been lovingly restored down to the smallest detail, in accordance with today’s safety standards. Voordouw4 Abstract Background: Tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) is an important tick-borne disease in Europe. Detection of the TBE virus (TBEV) in local populations of Ixodes ricinus ticks is the most reliable proof that a given area is at risk for TBE, but this approach is time- consuming and expensive. A cheaper and simpler approach is to use immunology-based methods to screen vertebrate hosts for TBEV-specific antibodies and subsequently test the tick populations at locations with seropositive animals. Results: The purpose of the present study was to use goats as sentinel animals to identify new risk areas for TBE in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. A total of 4114 individual goat sera were screened for TBEV-specific antibodies using immunological methods. According to our ELISA assay, 175 goat sera reacted strongly with TBEV antigen, resulting in a seroprevalence rate of 4.3%. The serum neutralization test confirmed that 70 of the 173 ELISA-positive sera had neutralizing antibodies against TBEV. Most of the 26 seropositive goat flocks were detected in the known risk areas in the canton of Valais, with some spread into the connecting valley of Saas and to the east of the town of Brig. One seropositive site was 60 km to the west of the known TBEV-endemic area.

De là suivre les pistes de ski et quitter ces dernières avant que celles-ci ne reconduisent en plaine par le Pas de Bœuf. De là, à peaux de phoque, traverser jusqu’au Borterpass 2'838 m (20 min). Redescendre ensuite par le Meidtälli jusqu’à environ 2'400 m puis traverser vers l’Augstolu jusqu’au premier marquage à 2'360 m (coord. 619'100/117'700). Depuis ce point, suivre les autres marquages jusqu’à Massstafel. Depuis Massstafel suivre la route forestière jusqu’à Haarnadelkurve à 2'041 m. Suivre encore 300 m la route puis tourner à droite dans la forêt et rejoindre Senntum. Suivre ensuite la route qui monte jusqu’au barrage, contourner le lac et le traverser pour rejoindre un peu plus loin le petit monte-charge. Suivre la moraine contre le sud puis monter à la cabane de Tourtemagne. Compter 4 heures depuis la Bella Tola. St-Luc - Gämsschwart - Gälushaupt - Massstafel - Senntum – Cabane de Tourtemagne (5-6h) Depuis l’hôtel Weisshorn ou la cabane Bella Tola monter par le lac de Cambevert au Gämsschwart à 2'794 m. Traverser en légère pente le col à l’est du Gälus Häupt. Depuis le col redescendre par l’Äugsttälli à Massstafel. Depuis Massstafel suivre la route forestière jusqu’à Haarnadelkurve à 2'041 m. Suivre encore 300 m la route puis tourner à droite dans la forêt et rejoindre Senntum.

Premier jour, 3 août 2019 Le départ de la randonnée se trouve à l‘hôtel Mauvoisin et nous nous dirigerons vers les alpages « le Vasevay » et « le Crêt », avec l’arrivée au « col du Sarshlau » d’une altitude de 2620m. Avant l’arrivée à la Cabane de Louvie, où nous passerons la nuit, nous gravierons encore le « col du Bec d’Aigle » qui cumule à 2566m. Le coucher du soleil derrière le Grand Combin 4314m est exceptionnel, car la cabane est placée sur une colline où la vue est parfaite. Deuxième jour, 4 août 2019 Nous continuerons vers l’alpage « Plan de la Gole » où se trouve une très grande population de bouquetins. Lors de notre montée vers le col de Louvie, on aperçoit les sommets de « Bec des Rosses, Mont Fort et le col Momin », ce dernier est empreinté par la Patrouille des Glaciers avant l’arrivée à Verbier. Le col de Louvie avec une altitude de 2920m est le plus haut point de notre randonnée. Sur la descente vers le «Lac du Grand Désert », on aperçoit encore le reste du glacier « Grand Désert », qui s’est malheureusement fortement retiré à cause du réchauffement climatique. En longeant les petits lacs, nous empreinterons le chemin vers le lac du « Grand Désert » et la cabane de « St. Laurent » pour arriver au barrage de Cleuson. Le but de cette journée est Siviez.
