A STUDY OP THE CONTEMPORARY STRUGGLE FOR POWER IN IRAN Reza Assadi, M.A. Western Michigan University, 1982 Historically speaking, the Iranian power straggle is not new. It is, however, the contemporary contest for power which is the focus of this thesis. This study analyzes the struggle for power precipi tated hy the Iranian Revolution of 1979* It integrates information from a variety of sources, examines key conceptual schemes, major theories of revolution, theories ahout Islamic Marxism, and describes events which influenced various groups, organizations and individuals in Iran to seek power for themselves.
