Money from the Federal Emergency Management Agency was used to clear the debris away from the roads and rights-of-way, but the restoration of vegetation is not eligible for FEMA assistance. City Manager Judie Zimomra reports that grants and other funding options will be pursued alter the Master Plan has been written. "We're waiting to get the public input and finalize our plan before we apply for funding," she said. ''The grant applications have to specify what we plan to do with the money." After receiving public ideas at the workshop the Master Plan will be finalized and reviewed by the Vegetation Committee and the Planning Commission at public meet- ings. The final plan will then be approved by the city coun- cil, also at a public meeting. "I was determined once I came down here, these were things i wanted to do," he said. "I wanted to be part of the community but never thought of running for public office." The financial future of the city is one of Rothman's top concerns. "Right now 1 don't know how we're going to get through all the various problems. Our income is down and our expenses are up," he said. "We have the cost of the hurricane and we don't know much we're going to get from FEMA. There are a lot of financial issues."
