UEFA Youth League: Tomorrow’S Leading Lights in Nyon on 21 and 24 April Media Information N° 001 Date: 10/04/2017 UEFA Youth League: tomorrow’s leading lights in Nyon on 21 and 24 April The Under-19 teams of FC Barcelona, SL Benfica, Real Madrid CF and FC Salzburg will be in action at Colovray stadium in Nyon in the finals of the 2016/17 UEFA Youth League. The top European footballers of tomorrow will be in action at Colovray stadium in Nyon in the finals of the fourth edition of the UEFA Youth League. Highlighting the importance of the competition, the UEFA president, Aleksander Čeferin, says: “In just four seasons, the UEFA Youth League has already had a demonstrable impact, with players, referees and coaches all benefiting from this initiative to reduce the gap between youth and senior teams and offer talented young players a taste of elite European competition.” The local population – families, friends and clubs – are invited to come to see some of the best young players of today and big names of the future show off their skills. The matches are scheduled on two days: Friday 21 April 13.00 – Semi-final 1: FC Barcelona v FC Salzburg 17.00 – Semi-final 2: Real Madrid CF v SL Benfica Monday 24 April 16.15 – Final “Nyon is very lucky to have the opportunity to host the UEFA Youth League finals each season and see the top footballers of tomorrow playing on a European stage,” says the mayor of Nyon, Daniel Rossellat. "This tournament and its international TV coverage help to raise the profile of our town.” The UEFA Foundation for Children, which encourages every child to develop their talents, is partnering the UEFA Youth League and has invited budding young film directors from the local Camp Cinema group to produce a film about the competition. Tickets for the public Prices: Under-19s: CHF 5; adults: CHF 10 Ticket office: Colovray sports centre, open from 10 to 13 April and from 18 to 20 April, from 12.00 to 19.00 (payment in cash, Swiss francs only). No tickets will be sold on match days. All gate receipts will go to the UEFA Foundation for Children to help make the dreams of seriously ill young football fans come true. Media accreditation: Media representatives wishing to attend the semi-finals and/or final are invited to register by 12.00 on 9 April using the following link: http://uefa.to/2nu1RON. Non-rights holders are advised that they will not be allowed to film during matches. However, they will have access to the post-match media activities provided they have the necessary accreditation. Spectators can have their photos taken with the trophy, have a go at Foot Air, marvel at freestylers, learn more about refereeing and the UEFA Foundation for Children, have their faces painted in their team colours, take part in sponsor activities, and much more. Christian Karembeu will also be there as event ambassador. On Friday 21 April local clubs will be taking part in a UEFA Youth League junior mini-tournament.     THE FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION OF WALES EXCEPTIONS PANELS GUIDANCE IN RESPECT OF YOUTH PLAYERS Unless otherwise defined in the Appendix to this guidance note, defined terms used in this note are set out in the FAW’s Points Based System criteria for Governing Body Endorsements. 1. From 4 June 2021 onwards, the PBS will be amended in respect of Youth Players. a. The youth criteria set out in paragraphs 48 of the PBS will form part of the main criteria of the PBS. b. The youth criteria set out in paragraphs 47 and 50 to 53 of the PBS will be removed from the PBS. c. The process for requesting that an Exceptions Panel consider an application for a Youth Player who does not meet the passmark of 15 points will be amended (as set out further in this document). 2. The purpose of making these changes is to simplify/streamline the criteria as regards Youth Players but to ensure that Clubs still have access to promising Youth Players. 3. These changes will apply to the Summer Transfer Window in 2021 and will be reviewed thereafter. 4. The purpose of this document is to provide guidance on the process for requesting an Exceptions Panel in respect of a Youth Player. Minimum requirements 5. In the revised PBS, there is no minimum points threshold which a Youth Player must achieve in order for the Club to request an Exceptions Panel. A Club can therefore request an Exceptions Panel for any Youth Player who does not meet the passmark of 15 points (and is not required to evidence that exceptional circumstances prevented the Player from achieving 15 points).

    International Journal of Sports Science & Coaching Volume 10 · Number 6 · 2015 1103 From Talent to Professional Football - Youthism in German Football Bettina Grossmann and Martin Lames Faculty of Sports and Health Sciences, Technical University Munich, Germany, Germany E-mail: [email protected] ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of the German youth academies conducted by the clubs of 1st and 2nd Bundesliga and the role of the U17 Bundesliga as a part of the German talent development programme in football. We examined all 821 U17 Bundesliga players born in 1993 and tracked their career development until season 2012/13. It was found that less than 10% were able to sign a contract for a professional team in Germany (1st, 2nd and 3rd league), while more than 45% quit playing football before advancing onto senior level. 29 out of 36 (80.6%) 1st Bundesliga players born in 1993 (season 20012/13) were trained in a professional youth academy, two players were educated in a 4th league club and five players were transferred from a foreign country. Youth academies and the U17 Bundesliga are crucial for the development of German talents, since a very good football education with weekly challenges in league is beneficial. However, one can be worried about the physical as well as mental and emotional stress those young players are exposed to, which might lead to an earlier end of their careers.     The Football Association - Governing Body Endorsement Requirements for Men’s Players THE FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION MEN’S PLAYERS - POINTS BASED SYSTEM 2020/2021 SEASON (1 JANUARY 2021 ONWARDS) The rules and criteria set out in this document will apply for the remainder of the 2020/21 season and will be effective from 1 January 2021. The criteria will be reviewed in early 2021 in order that revised criteria can be issued in advance of the summer transfer window before the 2021/22 season.
