Your baby's health depends on carefully following these directions. Proper hygiene, handling and storage are important when preparing infant formula. Failure to follow these directions could result in severe harm. Ask your baby's doctor if you need to use cooled, boiled water for mixing and if you need to boil (sterilize), bottles, nipples and rings before use.

l Wash your hands, surfaces and utensils. l Pour desired amount of water into clean bottle (see Powder Mixing Guide). l Add 1 unpacked level scoop (9.4 g) to each 2 fl oz of water; return dry scoop to can. l Cap bottle; shake well; attach nipple. l Once feeding begins, use within 1 hour or discard.

Preparation

Cleanliness is important. Before preparing and filling bottles, wash your hands thoroughly.

Bottles DO NOT require sterilization before first use. AFTER FIRST USE, follow these instructions for preparation and use:

l Wash bottles and caps in hot, soapy water and rinse thoroughly; or wash in top rack of dishwasher. l Your healthcare professional may recommend that you sterilize bottles before filling them with breast milk. l Fill bottles with breast milk. Cap and refrigerate or freeze them promptly. If bottles are not filled immediately, replace caps until needed.

Rinse bottle and cap following use to prevent milk from sticking to bottle.

Filled bottles should be stored in refrigerator and used as directed by your healthcare professional. Breast milk should be used or frozen within 48 hours of expressing. Leave some empty space at the top of the bottle for milk to expand as it freezes. Label all bottles with name, date, and time. When ready to use frozen breast milk, swirl bottle under warm tap water to thaw. Feed thawed breast milk right away or refrigerate; do not refreeze.

l Similac Human Milk Fortifier is intended for low-birth-weight infants as a nutritional supplement to add to preterm human milk. l Use under medical supervision.

Your baby's health depends on carefully following these easy directions. Proper hygiene, handling and storage are important when preparing infant formula. Failure to follow these directions could result in severe harm. Ask your baby's doctor if you need to boil (sterilize) bottles, nipples and rings before use.

Before first use

l Wash all bottle components in hot, soapy water before initial use. Ask your baby's doctor if you need to boil or sterlize bottles, nipples and rings. Cleaning

l Wash bottle and all components before every use. l Wash your hands, surfaces and utensils. l Dishwasher safe; use top rack only and wash on a normal cycle. Bottle assembly and feeding instructions l Insert EasyMix™ into the top of the bottle for a secure fit. Note: The bottle will function with or without the EasyMix™. l Put desired amount of breast milk or formula into the bottle. When using formula, mix according to the formula manufacturer's instructions. l Insert the nipple by pulling the top of the nipple through the SmartClose™ ring until it fits securely. l Tighten the ring on the bottle. When it is securely locked you will see blue in the indicator window. l Shake or swirl the bottle. The EasyMix™ has been designed to help reduce the amount of bubbles or formula clumps. l To test the temperature of the breast milk or formula, we recommend that you always sprinkle a few drops on the inside of your wrist to make sure it is not too hot.
