Public Relations V Oblouku 731 252 42 Průhonice Tel.: +420 296 787 111 Fax: +420 296 787 222 www.volvocars.cz Tisková zpráva Vydala Petra Doležalová, [email protected] Datum vydání 26.4. 2016 Jezdci Björk a Ekblom si za velmi náročných podmínek vybojovali dvakrát místo v první pětici Jezdci stáje Polestar Cyan Racing Fredrik Ekblom a Thed Björk ze sebe o víkendu dostali to nejlepší a na velmi náročné mokré trati maďarského okruhu dvakrát obsadili jednu z prvních pěti příček závodu Mistrovství světa cestovních vozů FIA 2016. „Jsem velmi hrdý na svůj doposud nejlepší výsledek, kdy jsem na zcela novém okruhu v náročných mokrých podmínkách skončil s vozem, který je pro mě zatím nový, v první pětce,“ uvedl Fredrik Ekblom, který dokončil závod na čtvrtém místě. Přestože byl po problémech, k nimž došlo při předchozím závodním víkendu na Slovensku, nucen závodit s vyměněným motorem bez možnosti pořádně si nově upravený vůz vyzkoušet, Björk i celý jeho tým tvrdě bojovali, aby se ve druhém závodě nakonec vyrovnal zatím nejlepšímu Ekblomovu výsledku, který v prvním závodě skončil jako čtvrtý. Čtyřnásobný šampion mistrovství STCC se po skončení závodu okamžitě přesunul z okruhu na letiště, aby stihl let domů, protože se již co nevidět stane otcem. „Mám za sebou úžasný závod! V pátek jsem zmeškal testování, v prvním závodě jsem startoval jako poslední a nakonec jsem se musel poprat s velmi kluzkým povrchem na okruhu. Vzhledem k těmto podmínkám bylo zakončení víkendu tak blízko k vítěznému pódiu velkou satisfakcí. Ale nyní se chystám vrátit domů a stát se otcem!“ prohlásil Thed Björk. Závod v Maďarsku byl již třetím letošním závodním víkendem šampionátu FIA WTCC, ve kterém se během pouhých čtyř týdnů podařilo týmu Polestar Cyan Racing dosáhnout dvou nových milníků: Thed Björk dohnal svou ztrátu a dostal se mezi pětici nejrychlejších vozů ve 3. části kvalifikace a oba jezdci se na maďarských závodech umístili do pátého místa. „Mokrá trať tento víkend pro nás byla pravděpodobně tou nejhorší možnou variantou. To, co náš tým za daných okolností dokázal, bylo neuvěřitelně inspirativní. Další v pořadí je závod na stísněném městském okruhu v Marrákeši, který bude od prvních tří závodů naprosto odlišný, a Volvo Car Czech Republic s.r.o., Průhonice, Czech Republic DIČ: CZ 63981726 proto pro nás bude velmi vzrušující výzvou,“ oznámil Alexander Murdzevski Schedvin, ředitel pro motorsport ve společnosti Polestar.     MOTORSPORT 2017 HISTORY HISTORY Ever since the company was founded in 1976, Öhlins has represented the very pinnacle of suspension technology and firmly rooted itself as an intricate part of the motorsport industry, underpinning countless world titles. That very technology has subsequently been adopted not only as the gold standard of aftermarket suspension, but is also by car and motorcycle manufacturers around the world. Back in the 1960’s, Kenth Öhlin was an up-and-coming motocross rider and showed an innate talent for mechanics. He knew how to bring the best out of his material and soon he saw himself engaged in modifying his competitor’s bikes. By the time he started his business he had already designed exhaust pipes, engines and – of course – shock absorbers. Öhlins soon became synonymous with advanced suspension. The products were not only superior in terms of technology, but as Mr. Öhlin was, and is, a very meticulous man the quality was always outstanding. The first world championship was won already in 1978, as Russian Gennady Moiseev took the 250cc title on an Öhlins equipped KTM. Since then, more than another 300 world titles have followed. The success continued in road racing and soon also in the automotive segment, in racing as well as in rally, all adding to the motorsport pedigree. But don’t think that Öhlins was content, not for a minute. The company continued to grow, adding electronically controlled, semi-active suspension to its portfolio under the trademark CES. Today, this technology has revolutionized the car industry and can be found in a wide range of products from premium car manufacturers.
