The day marked the first day of the lent season as observed by the Christian world; on this day, I typed the first letter of a work that could turn out to be known as the African Black Mass. Every letter that I struck on the keyboard was a march deeply into the realm of the battles of civilization as they once occurred in the times of the middle-ages. Initially being a General member of the Saips Supreme Council, I was tasked with producing a work that a real Legionaite is expected of. I started writing the work at exactly 7:00 pm; a time when hard laborers were waiting for their wages, peasants were in their homes counting cents and pennies out of their torn pockets, mechanics were putting their tools to rest and metal fabricators were putting their wielding tools away, workers were signing out of their offices, trade deals were being closed by the wealthy class; and whores, prostitutes, bandits, robbers, liquor shops, night clubs, stripping clubs and casinos were opening up to the world for a super showcase that is sponsored by the rulers of the and the abyss and the darkness. After the so called worshipers of Christ the king and those of Allah had effortlessly failed to represent this special unique fact to African children but rather condemn the fact about the craft down to hell; as Magus of the African Church Of Satan (ACS) Dr. Followill Gilmore Kabbale, through the Satanic Awareness Initiative Program (Saip); I imperatively took it upon myself and upon the honors of my fellows, to have a voice produced for this diversely widely gifted craft of both white and black magic. This unique race put into context, even for the generations that are to come after them to see and feel a difference in their lives and the lives of others is a supreme project. This undertaking is not in any case an easy one, since we have struggled much first of all to frame our Satanic institution into a complete flawless and ready to go institution which is a success as per today since 1966 and the 27 th – Nov - 2015. Being a founder and Magus of the African Church of Satan; I remember being disavowed for my eccentricity when i first deed satanic things and rituals in my communities, today many of these people are the ones liking our dark and mysterious strong faith. When i engaged in my first Voodoo rituals in fact, only a few people believed the desired results could come out; when i took on sorcery, few really knew that it was in fact Satanism that I was practicing at but at lower levels; when i performed cannabis hallucinations, in fact very few really believed that I was arising to higher understanding of the shadows religion and that which my ancestors already believed in; when the first news first broke of a Satanic institution in the land, the police sent in infiltrators. Till today and now, that the deception is fading with more light striking through, everything is coming to context and being put into context, thanks for the great forces that have always been behind. Now we face a situation where a lot of African cultural institutions of which many are demagogic are very eager to pop their noses into our formal stand on what has much moved past the sanctions of traditionalism and now into the realm of national custom and also which is escaping from the ignorant subjections of ill judgment and poor analogies. We are as a matter of truth ready to have a big NO said to a lot of you out there. Hail Satan! Our membership is now been reviewed by the experts, after launching our VIP package which goes for $1000 membership fee and also the ordinary package that goes for $666 membership fee. (USD) African Black Mass is perhaps to be considered the first product of our SAIP program, but it is also the first Satanic writing that will carry the Devil’s spear. African Black Mass in this sense stands for the usual ceremonies that black magicians (Evil magicians) and white magicians mostly do carry out this time in the African perspective. Much as many of these ceremonies are carried out on a local and traditional basis by people known locally as Abswezi (Conjurers) (a group of spiritually enlightened local people, the modern sense of the illuminated) and the (charmers) mostly women do the charming role when the ceremonies or Black Mass is taking place as we shall have to find out. The book will be majorly focused on the contents of African Black Mass, how the African Black Mass is done commonly known as Okusamila (Trance) and Amalongo (The Devil’s Pact) - (a special Satanic ceremony for twin children in Africa mostly performed by the Baganda and Basoga people who occupy most parts of the source of the Nile). The ceremonies of this nature are always performed by the African version of an Ipsitomas (Mandwa - Male) and the Ipsitoma (Lukowe - Female). One of these two people always commands these ceremonies or the Black Mass, mostly directed to the local gods. The main reason of this work and the very major reason as to why it’s being published by the Freemason secret society is to seek and find out the Satanic content found in all these ceremonies of the African crafts, arts, and as by the African Church of Satan, the African Black Mass. After a long period, of being faced with strong condemnations from our governments in Africa who took the first initial Satanic organization to cover a wide area on the continent the (TSTGRU) for a political organization instead of spiritual one; we were offered a great lesson from these political guys and their ruthless revulsion towards our deeply rooted deity and hence I decided to start authoring this work in the lent season so as to show the non-cooperative governments that our course is more religious than that of the Arabic Muslims who write in a language simply incomprehensible to many of African children or Christians whose book has historically divided Africans more than any book ever written in humanity’s history. The non-cooperative African governments for example present day Ethiopia, your continuous despotism upon our civil liberties and the indivisible aspect of our freedom of worship is something we are yet to challenge. Many of African politicians, if not found absolutely amoral and unscrupulous; they are advancing found primitive and irrational, one wonders as to how they made it to the presidency if it was not by the use of illegitimate maneuvers; and at least many of them have been noted controversial, irreligious, and pagans. And this is where the real question is what is Satanic, if a president is implicated of homosexuality, why can’t he personally feel the urge to liberate his civility; if a president is implicated of cannibalism, why can’t such a president acknowledge the Werewolves (night dancers) and the various rites of the Wiccans and Satanists all these black and white arts have existed since millennia; if a president is implicated of irrationality, why can’t he lead the path to rationality.

RICE UNIVERSITY Rehabilitating the Witch: The Literary Representation of the Witch from the Malleus Maleficarum to Les Enfants du sabbat by Lisa Travis Blomquist A THESIS SUBMITTED IN PARTIAL FULFILLMENT OF THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE DEGREE Doctor of Philosophy APPROVED, THESIS COMMITTEE Dr. Bernard Aresu Dr. Elias Bongmba, Professor ofRe · ious Studies Holder of the Harry and Hazel Chavanne Chair in Christian Theology HOUSTON, TX DECEMBER 2011 ABSTRACT Rehabilitating the Witch: The Literary Representation of the Witch from the Malleus Maleficarum to Les Enfants du sabbat by Lisa Travis Blomquist The representation of the witch in French literature has evolved considerably over the centuries. While originally portrayed as a benevolent and caring healer in works by Marie de France, Chretien de Troyes, and the anonymous author of Amadas et Ydoine, the witch eventually underwent a dramatic and unfortunate transformation. By the fifteenth century, authors began to portray her as a malevolent and dangerous agent of the Christian Devil. Martin Le Franc, Pierre de Ronsard, Joachim du Bellay, Fran9ois Rabelais, and Pierre Comeille all created evil witch figures that corresponded with this new definition. It was not until the eighteenth century, through the works of Voltaire and the Encyclopedistes, that the rehabilitation of the witch began. By the twentieth century, Anne Hebert, Jean-Paul Sartre, Maryse Conde, and Sebastiano Vassalli began to rewrite the witch character by engaging in a process of demystification and by demonstrating that the "witch" was really just a victim of the society in which she lived. These authors humanized their witch figures by concentrating on the victimization of their witch protagonists and by exposing the ways in which their fictional societies unjustly created identities for their witch protagonists that were based on false judgments and rumors.

This thesis considers particular moments of ‘satanic panic’ in South Africa as moral panics during which social boundaries were challenged, patrolled and renegotiated through public debate in the media. While the decade of the 1980s was marked by successive states of emergency and the deterioration of apartheid, it began and ended with widespread alarm that Satan was making a bid for the control of white South Africa. Half-truths, rumour and fantasy mobilised by interest groups fuelled public uproar over the satanic menace – a threat deemed the enemy of white South Africa.

  • From Decadent Diabolist to Roman Catholic Demonologist: Some Biographical Curiosities from Montague Summers’ Black Folio
From Decadent Diabolist to Roman Catholic Demonologist: Some Biographical Curiosities from Montague Summers’ Black Folio Bernard Doherty Introduction The history and practice of black magic, witchcraft, and Satanism have long held a deep fascination in British—and indeed international—popular culture. Beginning with the gothic literature of the eighteenth century, through to the nineteenth century occult revival and Victorian “penny dreadful,” and then into twentieth century pulp fiction, tales of the supernatural involving maleficent magic have been authored some of Britain’s most popular—if not always critically acclaimed—writers including, among others M. R. James, Arthur Machen, William Somerset Maugham, Agatha Christie, Charles Williams, and Dennis Wheatley. These writers, as well as various other short story writers, novelists, and journalists, have all played an important role in shaping, recording, and reflecting popular beliefs about these topics. Indeed, not a few occult practitioners, most notably Aleister Crowley, Dion Fortune, Gerald Gardner, and Doreen Valiente, even turned their hands to writing popular occult fiction. Despite this, the frequent blurring of the often porous boundary between actual occult practices and groups, and the imagined worlds of the purveyors of popular and literary fiction, has been seldom explored outside of highly specialised academic literature dedicated to the history of gothic or weird fiction and the burgeoning study of what has come to be called Western Esotericism.1 Bernard Doherty is a lecturer in the School of Theology at Charles Sturt University. 1 See, for example, Nick Freeman, ‘The Black Magic Bogeyman 1908–1935’, in The Occult Imagination in Britain, 1875–1947, ed. • The Devil's Music
religions Article The Devil’s Music: Satanism and Christian Rhetoric in the Lyrics of the Swedish Heavy Metal Band Ghost P.C.J.M. (Jarell) Paulissen Department of Biblical Sciences and Church History, Tilburg School of Catholic Theology, P.O. Box 90153, 5000 LE Tilburg, The Netherlands; [email protected] Abstract: This paper is an inquiry into a contemporary heavy metal band from Sweden called Ghost. Ghost released its first studio album in 2010 and, while there is some discussion as to what their genre is exactly, they immediately became a rising star in the metal scene. Yet what is of particular interest from a storytelling point of view, especially with regard to theological answers to philosophical questions in popular culture, is that the band presents itself as a satanic version of the Catholic Church through their stage act and lyrics. This made me curious whether they are trying to convey a message and, if yes, what that message might be. For the present paper, I have focused on the latter by performing a non-exhaustive textual analysis of the lyrics in a selection of songs from each of the four studio albums released so far. Ghost turns Christian liturgy on its head by utilizing devout language that is normally reserved for God and Christ to describe Satan and the Antichrist, a strategy I have called the ”satanification” of Christian doctrine, and in doing so their songs evoke imagery of a satanic faith community at prayer. The band then uses this radical inversion of traditional Christian themes to criticize certain elements of society, especially those aspects they associate with organized religion.

ST JOHN’S CATHOLIC PARISH 52 Yarra Street HEIDELBERG We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which our parish stands, the Wurundjeri-Balluk clan of the Woi wurrung people in the Kulin Nation. Central to the mission of St John’s Parish is an unequivocal commitment to fostering the dignity and integrity of children and young people and providing them with a safe and supportive environment in which to flourish. 5TH/6TH SEPTEMBER 2020, 23RD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME, YEAR A Satan and the Sunshine Coast I read a rather disturbing news article during the week. According to a Noosa Today article, the state of Queensland is about to host its first public Black Mass, hosted by the Noosa Temple of Satan. I’ve been to Noosa once before and it’s a great spot. Beautiful beach and Noosa Springs is one of the best golf courses I’ve ever played. (Not a huge fan of paying $30 for breakfast on Hastings Street, but that comes with the territory) The organiser (who I won’t care to name) is a self proclaimed political activist who heads a group that seeks to achieve a number of things by partaking in the occult. One of them is to encourage “political awareness” and “combating religious authorities in politics”. So he’s a political activist using religion to have religion banned from politics. Interesting. What else they seek to promote was not at all surprising to me, though I was surprised at how brazenly honest they were. They would like to see “greater access to reproductive health (read: abortion) and euthanasia and the decriminalization of illegal drug use…” This is where this group actually gets it right.

That a priest should put on record his private thoughts about the Mass-there is nothing extravagant in that. But mine were put on record in a highly specialized art-form, that of sermons to school-girls; and this form they still impenitently wear. There are films which a child can frequent only by pretending to be an adult. Here are pages which an adult can enjoy only by pretending to be a child. Nisi efficiamini sicut parvuli . The sermons were preached to the convent school of the Assumption Sisters, which was " evacuated " during the late war from Kensington to Aldenham Park in Shropshire. They appeared afterwards in The Tablet, much abridged; by reducing them to less than half their original size, it was possible to give them the air of a contribution designed for that paper. They are now offered to the public almost in their original form. The few excisions which have been made were made reluctantly; no word I had written but recalled some memory not lightly exor cised, and I will not pretend to have finished the business of proof-reading altogether dry-eyed.

However, it is often the use folklore itself, with writers and directors drawing on myth and contemporary legend that helps to create an eerie atmosphere in films and television programmes we love to spook ourselves with. In no particular order, here is a selection of some favourites of Diane A. Rodgers (Senior Lecturer in Media and one of the co- founders of Sheffield Hallam University's Centre for Contemporary Legend Research Group), as ones to watch out for this Halloween. 1. The Blood on Satan's Claw (1971), directed by Piers Haggard. An obvious choice to those familiar with folk horror, but for those new to the genre, an absolute must-see. Frequently cited as one of the 'unholy trinity' of folk horror films (along with Witchfinder General, 1968 and The Wicker Man, 1973), Blood on Satan's Claw is my favourite of the trio.
