LUTHERAN WOMEN’S MISSIONARY LEAGUE 2021 POST CONVENTION TOUR June 28-30, 2021 Post Conference Tour to Nashville, Tour Package

Nashville is the capital of the U.S. state of Tennessee. It is located on the Cumberland River in Davidson County. Nicknamed "Music City, U.S.A.", Nashville is the home of the , the Hall of Fame and many major record labels. It may be known as the Music City, but Nashville can do a lot more than just carry a tune. It’s a leading healthcare provider, a foodie destination, and a must-see for history buffs. It is also the only place in the world where you’ll find a full-size replica of The —and in a city park, no less.

Day 1: We depart Lexington today, making our way to Nashville, TN. Upon arrival, we will visit Belle Meade Plantation for a tour and lunch. Belle Meade is dedicated to the preservation of Tennessee’s history, architecture, hospitality, and equestrian legacy. The Mansion Tour tells the century-long history of Belle Meade through the stories and experiences of the Harding and Jackson families, as well as the women, men, and children who labored here. We will then check into our hotel for the next two nights, The Inn at Opryland. We will run a shuttle to this evening for dinner on your own and shopping time. The Opryland complex shuttle runs from our hotel to Opryland Hotel and Opry Mills, as well.

Day 2: This morning, enjoy breakfast on your own at the Atrium Café, serving Starbucks coffee with sandwiches, pastries, fruit and yogurt. We then depart for the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, located in downtown Nashville. The museum has been called the “Smithsonian of country music,” celebrated for its broad cultural impact, educational mission, and unrivaled collection of historically im portant artifacts. Launched in 1967 on Nashville’s Music Row, the museum opened its current downtown location in 2001, and in 2014, unveiled a $100 million expansion that doubled its footprint. The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum now includes 350,000 square feet of dynamic galleries, archival storage, retail stores, and event space, along with classrooms in the Taylor Swift Education Center, and performance space in the CMA Theater and Ford Theater, which regularly host nationally recognized live music and cultural events.

Lunch will be on your own on Broadway St., before a LIVE From Music City Tour with a Singer-Songwriter Step-on-Guide, including world-famous Music Row, where groups will learn about the recording industry straight from an aspiring songwriter. Nashville is home to the largest songwriting community in the world. The city tour also takes us through the heart of Downtown Nashville and past many of our historic buildings, including the , , Bicentennial Mall State Park, Vanderbilt University, Belmont University, Centennial Park, the Parthenon and much more. The Songwriter guide will also perform a few of his/her original songs along the way. We’ll then return to the hotel for a little time to refresh before enjoying dinner at the Opry Backstage Grill, which includes live country music entertainment (located at our hotel). Tonight, a special treat is in store as we attend the world-famous Grand Ole Opry. The Grand Ole Opry, the country’s longest-running radio show, began in 1925 as the WSM . Appearing on the WSM radio station (the call letters stood for sponsor National Life & Accident Company’s slogan, “We Shield Millions. ”

Day 3: This morning, we visit the Museum. The Johnny Cash Museum opened in April, 2013, in Nashville, Tennessee, to honor the life and music of the country superstar often referred to as the "Man in Black." It houses the world's largest collection of Johnny Cash memorabilia and artifacts, including a stone wall taken from his lake house in Hendersonville, Tennessee, and is officially authorized by Cash's estate. There will then be time to visit Antique Archeology Nashville. A life-long picker, Mike Wolfe of the History Channel's top-rated program, American Pickers, opened the second Antique Archaeology location in Marathon Village, a turn-of-the-century automobile factory. This store store features antiques, vintage items, folk art and Antique Archaeology merchandise. We will have an included lunch at the World-Famous , including Group Dance Lessons to a Johnny Cash Hit and Johnny Cash Music throughout the meal. Depart for Lexington following lunch.
