“We Got Attitude with our Latitude” Green General Georges Muse Script 2014-2015

All: We’re the Green General Georges (double point to self) And we’re here to teach you (one hand point) All about Geography (jazz hands) ‘Cause it’s really cool! (use your arms to reach out)

All: A study of the Earth (circle above head) It’s lands and features too (bob up and down) And its inhabitants (fake walk) Like me and you (double point in and out)

All: It’s about Mother Earth (hands out in circle) And getting to know her well Colten: ‘Cause we love Mother Earth (hands to heart) By our color can’t you tell (both hands out)

All: As we travel Mother Earth (walk in place) So many places to go Taylor: But where are we? (hands out and up) Kathryn: How do we know? (both hands out to sides)

All: An absolute location (point to hand) Kathryn: We’ll need some tools for that (rub your hands together) All: Latitudes and (+ with hands) Korbyn: They’re sick like dhat!! (“Word” fingers)

All: Latitudes are always first (straight latitude line with arms) They circle the Earth, see? (make a circle with your hand) Measured from the equator, (hands on top of one another) Parallels is what they’d be (spread hands apart both ways)

All: North of the Equator, (bring top hand up) Northern Latitudes (continue) All the way to the North Pole (continue) Maddie: 90 degrees north, dudes (continue)

All: South of the Equator (bring bottom hand down) They are Southern Latitudes (continue) All the way to the South Pole (continue) Thomas: 90 degrees south, dudes (continue)

All: Then we have the Longitudes (make line with arm) They always come next (straight hand point) Beginning and ending at the poles (point to top and bottom) David: You know it’ll be on the test (point to the audience)

All: Also called Meridians (one vertical arm) They are measured too (spread vertical arms side by side) From the (start with hands together in front of you) To the International Dateline, too (make a circle in towards you)

All: East of the Prime Meridian (cross arms and lean) Eastern longitudes West of the Prime Meridian (cross arms and lean opposite direction) Western Longitudes

All: Lines of Longitude (circle above head) Converge or meet (make hands a circle and meet) Always at the Poles (back hand slap) Kathryn, Korbyn, and Taylor: Longitude, Sweet!!!! (double point to self)

All: When we are traveling (walk in place) There’s relative location (walk in place) Figuring that out (double point to head) Here’s the situation (double point out)

All: A place’s location (pinch your left fingers) In relation to another place (pinch both fingers) Lyndsey: North of my hand (one arm up) Lyndsey: West of my face (one finger to face)

All: Far from the mountains (look out) Close to the shore (double hand push) So many relative locations (rub hands together) We could give you a thousand more (continue)

Dylan: But we won’t (reach out) ‘Cause that will take too long (one hand chop) You know what I’m saying, Yo? (hands to chest, up)

All: If we cut Mother Earth in half (draw line with arm) At the Equator (repeat) We get two hemispheres (hold bottom and top) Don’t be a hater (touch chest)

All: One is North (hold top) And one is south North and South Hemispheres (hold both top and bottom) Shaeden: Well, shut my mouth (swing hips)

All: If we cut from up and down (slice up and down) Along the Prime Meridian, see? (repeat) Again we get two hemispheres (hold sides) East and West, ‘Gee (move holding sides)

All: When we name a location (holding top and bottom) Using hemispheres (holding top and bottom) We always start with North or South (holding top and bottom) Colten: Always, always, you hear?

All: Then we add the East or West (hold left and right) To our location (point to hand) Here’s how we identify them (one finger) In every situation (shake finger)

All: North and East (top and one side) North and West (top and other side) O ya we got it (point to head) We know hemispheres best (shake fingers by head)

All: South and East (bottom and one side) South and West (bottom and other side) O ya, baby (chest) We’re going to ace that test (double point out)

All: Yo, yo, yodey, yo, yo (shake hands) I got a GPS (hold up) I’ll put in my coordinates (fake dial) Latitude and longitude, yes! ( - I with arm)

David: Here we are at Van Cleve (point down) 40 degrees North, 84 degrees West (count on fingers) That’s the coordinates of our crib (hands out) The place we like the best! (hands to chest)

All: But now it’s to make it big (rub hands together) And move to Hollywood (jazz hands) Kathryn: If we only knew the coordinates (hands to cheeks) Kathryn: Then we really could (reach out)

Korbyn: Yo 34 degrees North Yo, 118 degrees West Yeah, they call me Hollywood ‘Cause my swagga is the best

All: We’re the Green General Georges (double point to self) And yeah we got ‘tude (shake hands) And don’t you forget it (point out) Attitude with our latitude (cross arms) O yeah! (serious face)
