SMALL SCHOOLS ATHLETICS DAY AT WAIPARA SCHOOL TUESDAY 03 NOVEMBER This is for all children in Year 4-8 at Broomfield, Omihi and our school and what a wonderful spectacle it is in our school grounds! The children have been practising the skills of the events involved in this day – running, sprinting, shotput, discus, long jump, high jump and relays. Thanks to Bridget Ford for coming along to assist with shotput. The distance running component is practised in our fitness time in the mornings, so if children would like to bring their running shoes to change into for this, they are more than welcome. Three afternoons a week will be spent on practising the skills for the running, jumping and throwing events. The day starts at 9.30am with the distance race and then the children move around the events in Year level groupings. The day concludes at about 2.30pm, the relays being the final event of the day. The below timetable is draft whilst I await feedback from Omihi and Broomfield Fingers crossed for a sunny one.
