 Car Parking. First pickup will always be from the Old Gasworks Car Park (Brook Street). This pickup is set at 25 minutes before the scheduled trip departure time shown in the brochure. The driver will wait a maximum of 5 minutes. This allows us to get to New Street around 15 minutes before departure, giving time for the remaining passengers to arrive and board the bus. Before departing the venue for your return to Daventry, please discuss with your driver where you require to be dropped off i.e. Bus Station (especially if you have bus connections you need to get back for), Old Gasworks Car Park, or near to where you live if in Daventry. Please don’t assume the driver will know.  Accessibility: For those passengers that use wheelchairs or have mobility issues - If you have any concerns regarding accessibility we would request that you contact the venue and talk to them directly, or access their website. We can assist in providing contact numbers if necessary.  If you want a travel scooter for a trip you can always hire one from DACT Mobility. We do ask you to talk to the office first, to make sure we have the right type of bus available. (N.B. Some venues do provide Scooters making it unnecessary to take your own. Ask the DACT Office if you need more details)  Cancellations: These can affect a lot of people. Eg: They may result in trips being cancelled due to insufficient numbers, members losing the opportunity to get group rate entry or trips run at a loss to DACT. After a meal there is a short stop at Billing Garden Centre Village, a compact but interesting place to wander around, with a small garden centre, a Ponden Mill, clothes shop and some other smaller outlets including a Smiths Farm Shop. The Quays has various meal offers at reasonable prices including a Carvery. Wed 5th Newark-on-Trent Tourist Attraction 9.45am 3.30pm £15 Newark-on-Trent or Newark is a market town in Nottinghamshire in the East Midlands of . It stands on the River Trent, the A1 (on the route of the ancient Great North Road), and the East Coast Main Line railway. The origins of the town are possibly Roman, as it lies on an important Roman road, the Fosse Way. The town grew around Newark Castle, now ruined, and a large market place, now lined with historic buildings. It was a centre for the wool and cloth trades. In the English Civil War, it was besieged by Parliamentary forces and had to be relieved by Prince Rupert in a battle known as the Relief of Newark. 1st Wednesday of the month Farmers Market. Thurs 6th Chatsworth House House and Gardens 9.30am 3.45pm £18 Stately home of the Duke of Devonshire. Visitors have access to the house and the extensive gardens. Chatsworth has been a location used in a number of films, including Pride and Predudice and The Duchess. Entry Cost: Adults & Seniors £15.50. Fri 7th Ludlow Food Festival Historic Town & 9.30am 3.45pm £18 Ludlow is a thriving medieval market town and an architectural gem with a lively community feel, busy with events and festivals Food Festival throughout the year. The historic town centre and the 11th century Ludlow Castle are situated on a cliff above the River Teme and surrounded by the beautiful countryside of south and the Welsh Marches. Ludlow is an excellent base for walking and cycling as well as exploring the rest of Shropshire and the Welsh Marches. This trip is day 1 of a three day festival of foodie heaven, featuring demos, talks, tastings and of course 180 local producers showcasing products over the weekend! Entry Cost: Adults £8. Mon 10th Wightwick Manor, House and Gardens 10am 3.15pm £15 In 1937 Geoffrey Mander MP did something remarkable - he persuaded the National Trust to accept a house that was just 50 years West Midlands old.The local paint manufacturer and Liberal MP had been left the timber-framed house by his father Theodore. Taking inspiration from a lecture on 'the House Beautiful' by Oscar Wilde, Theodore and his wife Flora had decorated its interiors with the designs of William Morris and his Arts and Crafts contemporaries.Having given the house to the Trust, Geoffrey and his second wife Rosalie became its live-in curators, opening the house to the public and adding to its contents. Tues 11th Oxford Historic Town 10am 3.30pm £14 A famous city that has a number of historic buildings, colleges and museums, such as the Ashmolean and the Pitt Rivers Museums. There are a large number of shops both indoor and outdoor plus an indoor market. Wed 12th Anglesey Abbey House and Gardens 9.30am 3pm £15 A Jacobean style house with fine furnishings, books, paintings, silverware and a collection of rare English & French clocks. Outside Cambs. there are 114 acres of woodland paths, herbaceous gardens, Rose gardens, Dahlia gardens, formal gardens, wildflower meadows and more. There is also a working Mill and Water Wheel. Mon 17th Historic Town 10am 3.30pm £15 Bridgnorth was once one of the busiest river ports in Europe, but nowadays, the Severn, clear and unpolluted, is a quiet haven for anglers, walkers and wildlife. The river divides the town into High Town and Low Town, the two being linked by seven sets of ancient donkey steps and a Victorian funicular, the Bridgnorth Cliff Railway. Tues 18th Melton Mowbray Historic Town 10am 3pm £12 Melton Mowbray is a town located in the heart of the East Midlands, in the County of Leicestershire. It is well known for it's Pork Pies and Cheeses. Tuesday is market day - the market being outdoors and quite large. Outside of the main market is the Cattle Market, close to the town centre. Wed 19th Peak District Tour Peak District 9.30am 5.30pm £18 Peak District with its beautiful scenery and picturesque small towns is always an extremly popular trip, so book early to avoid (In Dav) disappointment. We normally have around 3 stops to allow people to explore various locations. Upton House & Gardens House and Gardens 10am 3pm £13 The acquisition of Upton House in 1927 by Walter Samuel, the 2nd Viscount Bearsted, coincided with the Great Depression. Warwks. Unemployment and deprivation ran high, not least in the local village. Lord Bearsted wrote to the local community announcing that Fri 21st “Any man who presents himself at my house at 9am on Monday morning shall find work there. There are beautiful gardens to explore, a shop that stocks locally sourced products, plant sales and a restaurant serving hot lunches, homemade cakes and local produce Entry Cost: Adults £6, with our National Trust special rate. Tues 25th Moreton-in-Marsh/Bourton-on- Cotswold Towns 10.30am 3.45pm £12 Visit to 2 very popular Cotswold towns. Market day in Moreton-on-Marsh attracts visitors from far & wide. Have lunch & browse the the-Water stalls before moving on to Bourton-on-the-Water. Wed 26th Calke Abbey House and Gardens 10am 3.15pm £15 With peeling paintwork and overgrown courtyards, Calke Abbey tells the story of the dramatic decline of a country house estate. The Derbys. house and stables are little restored, with many abandoned areas vividly portraying a period in the 20th century when numerous country houses did not survive to tell their story. Discover the tales of an eccentric family who amassed a vast collection of hidden treasures. Visit the beautiful, yet faded, walled gardens and explore the orangery, auricula theatre and the kitchen gardens. Escape into the ancient and fragile habitats of Calke Park and its National Nature Reserve. Entry Cost: Adults £8, with our National Trust special rate. Fri 28th Stow-on-the-Wold/ Chedworth Roman Villa 10.30 am 3.30 pm £14 1st stop is the Stow-on-the-Wold, for refreshments and a wander. Then to Chedworth Roman Villa, the remains of one of the largest Roman Villa villas in the country. More than a mile of wall survives along with beautiful mosaics, 2 bath houses, underfloor heating, water shrine and latrine. Outside there are woodland trails to follow. A modern conservation building allows access to to the mosaics etc and the museum has a range of artefacts, There is also a café and shop. Entry: Our NT special rate applies - £6. (NT members free). Sat 29th Malvern Autumn Show Flower Show 9.30am 3pm £15 RHS annual flower show held at the Three Counties Showground, at the foot of the Malvern Hills. Show includes flower marquee, floral art, plant pavilions, show gardens, retail outlets and talks and demonstrations from a number of TV gardeners. It is described as Derbys having the only market in the Peak District National Park, with around 160 stalls spread across 2 sites. Market day is Monday. Entry: Castle & Gardens Wed 3rd Mystery Tour Mystery Tour 10am 5.30pm – £14 Mystery tour with stops for refreshments, lunch and browsing. Typically there are likely to be 3 stops, one being long enough to have Approx at lunch. Dav Thurs 4th Snowshill Manor House and Gardens 10.30am 3pm £13 Born in the suburbs of London in 1883, Charles Wade was the son of Paget and Amy Wade – owners of several sugar estates in the Gloucs. West Indies. When his father died in 1911, Charles inherited enough money to stop work and absorb himself in his passion for collecting which he used to further his collection. And while serving with the Army in the First World War, he spotted Snowshill Manor up for sale. On his return, he purchased Snowshill Manor, a Tudor manor house with adjacent cottage and 14 acres of land and set to work revamping the house and turning the farmyard into a cottage garden into an Arts and Crafts garden with the help of M H Baillie Scott. While his collection took pride of place in the main manor, Charles set up home in the small Priest’s House opposite. Entry Cost: Adults £6, with our National Trust special rate. Mon 8th Gloucester Quays Historic Town 10am 3.15pm £15 Gloucester lies on the and has a rich historic past stretching back to Roman times. At its heart stands the Norman cathedral with its fan-vaulted cloisters and great east window. A walk down narrow cobbled streets and past ancient buildings leads into the main pedestrianised shopping area. It is then a short walk to the waterfront of the Victorian Docks with its converted warehouses, including its Waterways Museum. Pleasure boat trip are also available. Lots to do and see. Tues 9th Poplars Garden Centre, Gardens 10.30am 3pm £11 Poplars is a family run business for over 100 years. Poplars are now ranked GCA Garden Centre of Excellence - one of the best garden Toddington centres in the UK. Wed 10th Stratford-on-Avon Historic Town 10.30am 3.15pm £11 A Town that has become a worldwide major tourist attraction, made famous by William Shakespeare. It is a Town offering a variety of architecture, shops, Butterfly Farm and activities. There are lovely walks along the River Avon and various sites/museums for those interested in Shakespeare. Thurs 11th Chesterfield Historic Town 10am 3.30pm £16 Chesterfield is a market town and borough in Derbyshire, England. It lies 24 miles (39 km) north of Derby and 11 miles (18 km) south Derbys. of Sheffield at the confluence of the rivers Rother and Hipper. Archaeologists trace it back to a Roman fort built in the 1st century AD, but soon abandoned. Later an Anglo-Saxon village developed. The name derives from the Old English ceaster (a Roman fort) and feld (grazing land). It has a street market of some 250 stalls three days a week. The town sits on a coalfield, which was economically important until the 1980s. Little visual evidence of mining remains. The best-known landmark is the Church of St Mary and All Saints with its crooked spire, originally built in the 14th century. Mon 15th Fox & Hounds Ardley, followed by Something different 11.15am 3.30pm £11 The recently refurbished Fox & Hounds in Ardley is the first stop for a drink or bite to eat if you prefer, then on to Ardley Recovery Ardley Recovery Centre Centre. The facility began operation in 2014, treating 300,000 tonnes of non-recyclable waste each year. It will divert at least 95% of Oxfordshire Oxfordshire’s residual municipal waste away from landfill and generate enough electricity to power around 38,000 homes. As well as treating household waste, the facility will also receive residual waste from local businesses and other local authorities helping them to divert their waste away from landfill. Wed 17th Milton Keynes Shopping Shopping 10.30am 3.30pm £10 Central Milton Keynes is visited primarily for its large covered shopping centre. Close to the shopping centre is the Theatre and Snow Dome. Thurs 18th Swindon Designer Outlet Shopping 9.30am 3pm £15 McArthur Glen’s Swindon Designer Outlet is housed in the beautifully renovated Grade II listed buildings of the Great Western Railway Works and is one of the largest covered designer outlets in Europe. There are over 80 leading brands including outlets for M&S, Next, John Lewis along with a wide range of designer brands. Mon 22nd Kew Gardens Gardens 9am 3pm £19 Kew Gardens is a UNESCO World heritage site. The gardens date back to the 1700s. Kew covers an area of 326 acres and includes London lakes, extensive walkways, themed area and a number of glasshouses housing a wide array of temperate plants and trees. With our excellent agreement with Kew we are able to offer this trip at a total cost of £19.00 (Bus and entry combined). Tues 23rd Gloucester Warwickshire Railway Railway 9.15am 3pm £14 Take a ride on a steam or diesel train through the Cotswolds. The GWR runs between Toddington (Near Tewksbury) and Cheltenham Race Course, with stops at Winchcombe and Gotherington. Various stations have tea rooms. Toddington has a small museum, a viewing area behind the loco sheds and a small display of classic vehicles. Various ticket options are available. Return ticket is £16.20 adult, £15.30 Seniors. (Assuming we have a minimum of 10 passengers). Wed 24th Millets Farm Centre Garden Centre 10am 3pm £13 Bought by newlyweds John and Christine Carter in 1952, Millets Farm was originally a 300 acre dairy farm. In 1975 Nigel and Tony Oxfordshire Carter joined the family business to explore diversification opportunities and planted 6 acres of soft fruit. The summer of 1976 saw the launch of the PYO. The development of the Farm Shop then followed in 1978. In 1986 Frosts Garden Centre opened. As the site continued to get busier the current Farm Shop and restaurant building was opened in 1990. During this visit there is an outdoor clothing sale & a chance to pick your own pumpkins. Thurs 25th West Midlands Safari Park Zoo 9.45am 3.30pm £14 WMSP has a safari drive through where you can see Elephants, Giraffes, White Lions etc. Off of the bus there are various themed areas with Sea Lions. Hippos, Reptiles, Lemurs, Penguins etc. There are various food outlets, including a restaurant, plus picnic areas for those that want to take their own food. Entry: Adult £10.50 Fri 26th Wicksteed Park Amusement Park 10am 3.30pm £11 Wickteed is a large park (147 acres) close to Kettering town centre and offers a variety of attractions. There are large areas of grassed Kettering land for walking, picnics etc. In addition there are play areas. Boating lakes and theme rides. Entry: FREE (Wristbands for rides £13.60 Adults, £16.10 Child, £8.50 Seniors) Mon 29th Springfield Centre, Spalding Shopping 9.45am 3pm £15 Springfield is an out of town centre in Spalding. It has a Garden Centre plus a number of shops (approx 55 in total) that include an M&S Outlet, Hotters, Designer Warehouse Outlet, Klass etc. In addition it has its 25 acre Festival Gardens that are free to explore. Tues 30th RAF Hendon Tourist Attraction 9.30am 2.45pm £15 RAF Hendon hosts a collection that includes some very early aircraft designs through to the latest modern day jets and military aircraft. Next door is the Science Museum and across the road is the V&A History/Science/V&A Museums Museum, claimed to be the worlds greatest museum of art & design. All museums FREE to enter – special exhibitions, simulators etc may be chargeable. This is also a good base for onward travel to Oxford Street, Harrods and other parts of London. Mon 5th Solihull Shopping 10.45am 3pm £11 Solihull Shopping Centre offers a mixture with its Touchwood Shopping Centre and its pedestrianised high street shops. It has a number of large outlets including John Lewis, House of Fraser, and M&S. There is a large open square just off the High Street that has a number of shops and cafés, plus a small outdoor market. Tues 6th Webbs Garden Centre, Wychbold Garden Centre 10.45pm 3.30pm £13 One of the largest Garden Centres in the UK. Garden Centre just 2 minutes from Junction 5 of the M5 Motorway, on the A38 between Droitwich Spa and Bromsgrove.Webbs, Wychbold is the place to come for an inspirational and relaxing day out or just to pop in and buy that all important plant for your garden or finishing touch for your home. It has been awarded Garden Centre of the Year by the Garden Centre Association three times! There are also a number of concessions on site including, Lakeland, Cotswold and Hobbycraft. Fri 9th Brampton Halt, Chapel Brampton Pub Lunch 11.30am 2.30pm £9 Country pub in old stationmaster's house, with booths, wood burner, dining area and terrace tables.

Atherstone Thurs 15th Blenheim Palace Christmas Tourist Attraction 10am 3.30pm £14 Birthplace of Winston Churchill Blenheim Palace is a World Heritage Site. The interior has an array of portraits, tapestries and fine Market furniture, ornate ceilings and striking stone work. Special mention is made of the Great Hall and State Rooms. Outside are formal Oxfordshire gardens, including Water Terraces, the Secret Garden and The Duke’s Italian Garden and vast acres of parkland. Living Crafts for Christmas is an indulgent day out where you can enjoy Christmas shopping in style at Blenheim Palace. Featuring over one hundred and eighty designer-makers, there is a wonderful range of high quality handmade, British contemporary craft including jewellery, ceramics, designer fashions, toys, soaps, garlands and wreaths. Entry: Prices not known at time of printing Fri 16th Abingdon on Thames Historic City 10.30am 3.30pm £13 Located six miles south-west of Oxford, the former county town of Berkshire had a slight name change in 2012 to become Abingdon- Oxfordshire on-Thames. Best known for MG Car manufacturing, Abingdon is recognised for special architectural merit with some thirty-four 17th century buildings and twenty-two even older. Wed 21st Winchester Christmas Market Historic 9.30am 3.15pm £18 Winchester is a city world famous for its cathedral and other historic buildings, including The Great Hall & King Arthur’s Round Table. City/Shopping In addition there are a variety of museums, shops and parks all within a reasonably compact area. Also close by is the river with its riverside walks. Recognised as one of the best in Europe with its unique location, high quality exhibitors and bustling atmosphere. Wonderful Christmas gifts, decorations and festive foods can be found in abundance. Fri 23rd Rushden Lakes Shopping With a large House of Fraser and M&S, alongside fashion favourites such as H&M, River Island, Next and Primark, there really is something for everyone. Other big name fashion brands you’ll find here include Jigsaw, Hobbs and Joules. Mon 26th Woodlands Garden Centre, Garden Centre 10.15am 3.30pm £12 A large Wyevale garden centre located just outside of Hinckley. Stapleton Tues 27th Milton Keynes – Central Shopping Shopping 10.30am 3.30pm £11 Central Milton Keynes is visited primarily for its large covered shopping centre. Close to the shopping centre is the Theatre and Snow Dome. A little further away is Willen Lake. MK’s famous Christmas Display should be open in time for this visit. Fri 30th Worcester Christmas Market Historic 10.15am 3.15pm £19 All the Fayre favourites will return, including the traditional Victorian carousel, juggling stilt walkers, Victorian characters and local City/Shopping choirs. Plus the event will host more than 180 market stalls selling gifts and crafts.Worcester Victorian Christmas Fayre is the leading themed street market in the West Midlands. Thurs 6th Lincoln Christmas Market Historic 9.30am 3.30pm £16 Visitors are welcomed to this beautiful city and the traditional Christmas Market, where you will enjoy cultural entertainment and City/Shopping stroll around over 200 stalls nestled with in the medieval square and surrounding area. A contemporary cathedral city with over 2,000 years of history, Lincoln is the perfect place to visit over the festive period. Take a trip back through time and stroll along the cobbles the cultural quarter of the city. The medieval square between the impressive Norman castle and magnificent gothic cathedral is the perfect backdrop for the Christmas Market. Lincoln Christmas Market has developed dramatically since it began with just 11 stalls. The Christmas Market gives visitors and residents a truly festive experience, with a traditional, high quality event for all the family. We will be parking in the local Park & Ride, as vehicles are not allowed in the City. Wed 12th The Red Lion, Adderbury Pub Lunch 11.15am 2.30pm £10 Overlooking the green of one of the most charming Oxfordshire villages, The Red Lion hotel has a rich heritage. Set in the quaint village of Adderbury and dating from 1605, the hotel was originally a popular coaching inn. This is an ideal setting and time to have a get together just before the busy Christmas period. The general menu will be available to pick from. Thurs 13th Birmingham German Market Shopping 10am 3.30pm £12 Birmingham’s Frankfurt Christmas Market is a firm fixture in the city’s annual calendar and, together with the neighbouring Christmas Craft Market, a massive favourite with both residents and visitors to the city from across the UK and Europe. Birmingham comes alive every winter with the arrival of the Market, a clear sign that Christmas is just around the corner. With over 120 stalls there is something for everyone.The largest authentic German Christmas market outside of Germany or Austria Birmingham’s Frankfurt Christmas Market offers a large range of traditional good and gifts and a selection of tempting food and drink. Pretzels, schnitzels, bratwursts, and roasted almonds will tempt your tastebuds, all of which can be washed down with gluhwein, weissbeer (wheat beer), or tasty hot chocolate.

If you have any kind of mobility difficulties which you think we should be advised of, please notify us. (e.g. you perhaps need to bring a tri-walker on a trip)

 Booking will be on a first-come first served basis. For trips that are fully booked we will run a reserve list and contact people on that list if seats become available through cancellations.  There are NO age restrictions applicable to DACT Days Out, but unfortunately all seats are charged at the same rate. This also applies to carers of wheelchair passengers etc.  Price quoted is for return travel only. Admission charges are not included, unless otherwise stated. Food, drink etc is excluded.  Payment in cash should be made to the driver on the day of the trip unless stated otherwise.  Pick-ups The bus will leave from the Old Gasworks Car Park/Daventry Bus Station at the time stated in trip details. We will wait a maximum of 5 minutes only, in fairness to other passengers. If a number of passengers from the same area are travelling, it may be possible to arrange another pick-up point en-route.  Drop offs - Before departing the venue for your return to Daventry, please discuss with your driver where you require to be dropped off i.e. Bus Station, Old Gasworks Car Park, or near to where you live if in Daventry. Please don’t assume the driver will know.  DACT will do their best to make sure every trip operates as advertised. However in circumstances beyond our control or minimum numbers not being met, we may have to change or cancel – we cannot run these trips at a loss to DACT.  Trip Information is obtained from a variety of sources. We try to give a fair summary of a destination but we cannot guarantee that all the content we may use is totally accurate.  Trolleys. We can carry shopping trolleys but they must be booked in advance as there is only limited storage space on our buses.  CANCELLATIONS. Please be aware that if you cancel your booking late, you prevent others from travelling on the trip who would otherwise have been able to go, and also if buses then get insufficient numbers, they run the risk of being cancelled. Please only book if you definitely intend to travel. All bookings are taken on trust without a deposit and we do not want to change this procedure to avoid heavy administration. Any trip cancelled at less than 5 full working-days notice prior to the trip date (or a no-show on the trip day) will incur the full trip cost as it is unfair to other passengers to have their trip cancelled at short notice. Please pay to the DACT Office as soon as possible.
