Alien Swirling Saucers + Toy Story Mania + Future PizzeRizzo Future Home of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge (Opening late-2019) BaseLine Tap House Alien Swirling Woody’s Saucers Lunch Box + Future Home of Toy Mickey & Minnie's Story Runaway Railway Mania (Opening + mid-2019) Slinky Dog Dash + Walt Disney Jedi Training Presents Sign-ups Entrance Rosie’s All American Catalina Eddie’s Fairfax Fare Hollywood Scoops Future Disney Skyliner Station Future Home of Lightning McQueen's Racing Academy (Opening early-2019) General Touring Philosophy: Most guests arriving prior to park opening will want to begin their day in Toy Story Land with Slinky Dog Dash, Alien Swirling Saucers, and Toy Story Mania, which are relatively easy to ride back to back in standby. FastPass+ can then be utilized at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror. Thrill seekers may elect to begin the day at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, where it’s possible to ride in standby a couple of times and use FastPass+ at a Toy Story Land attraction later in the day. Starting with Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is also less stressful because far fewer people are headed in that direction. A typical problem is trying to see all of the scheduled shows, most of which take 40 to 60 minutes to experience, in a single day. With one day, you may need to prioritize several of the lengthy shows that appeal to your group while skipping others – there just isn’t enough time. Characters: Woody/Jessie and Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story Land are the highest priorities and see 30 to 50 minute afternoon waits. Try to visit immediately after riding Slinky Dog Dash in the morning or as late in the evening as possible. Chewbacca and BB-8 in Star Wars Launch Bay typically see 30-minute peak waits while Kylo Ren usually maxes out at 20. Visit during the heat of the day as both are inside with air-conditioned queues. Mickey and Minnie meet across from Sci-Fi Dine-In to 35ish minutes waits. Other priorities include the Disney Junior characters like Doc McStuffins and Sofia the First in Animation Courtyard outside Disney Junior, and Olaf sees 10 to 20 minute waits across from Backlot Express and Star Tours. Jedi Training Academy: Kids between the ages of 4 and 12 have the opportunity to participate in this show held next to Star Tours. To sign them up, bring the participating child to the Adventurers Outpost store to the right of 50’s Prime Time Café before 10:30am. With Toy Story Land drawing heavy crowds, few people currently head to signups first thing, making it easier to head over later in the day. If Jedi Training is an absolute must-do, consider visiting first thing after entering to guarantee spots. There are usually 12 to 15 shows scheduled throughout the day. Ask for a show in the late morning or afternoon so it doesn’t interfere with morning touring and double check the weather as rain cancels shows. Kids participating in Jedi Training are required to return to the sign- up location 30 minutes before the show to practice. Those with pre-opening reservations at the Hollywood & Vine character breakfast may be able to sign their kids up before the meal without a wait, which is an added perk. Rope Drop: The Studios typically lets guests into the park 30-45 minutes prior to open and guests signing up kids for Jedi Training will be able to immediately do so upon entering. Everyone else will be held on Hollywood Boulevard just past Trolley Car Café Starbucks until open. For Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster or Tower of Terror, keep to the far right. For Toy Story Land, stay center and prepare to head straight and then to the right around Grauman’s Chinese Theater. There is much less of a hurry to Star Tours or any of the shows. An alternate rope drop procedure is also sometimes used when guests are held outside the park until 10-20 minutes before official open. After guests enter, they are allowed to head to the attraction of their choice without being held on Hollywood Boulevard. Whichever way it goes, those visiting Slinky Dog Dash first should arrive one hour before official open and be prepared to hurry to the attraction. Those heading anywhere else, including Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster or Toy Story Mania may arrive closer to 30 minutes before open and be just fine. FastPass+ at the Studios Attractions at Hollywood Studios are broken up into two tiers, with the three Toy Story Land rides comprising Tier 1 and all other attractions comprising Tier 2. Only one Toy Story Land attraction may be selected in advance and Slinky Dog Dash is the clear priority with the longest waits and lowest FastPass+ availability of the three rides. Alien Swirling Saucers FastPass+ are also available in far lower quantities than Toy Story Mania, making it the second priority. FastPass+ Priority from Highest to Lowest Toy Story Land (Choose One): 1. Slinky Dog Dash 2. Alien Swirling Saucers 3. Toy Story Mania Everything Else (Choose Two): 1. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster 2. Tower of Terror 3. Star Tours 4. Frozen Sing-Along 5. Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage 6. Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular 7. Disney Junior Dance Party 8. Voyage of the Little Mermaid 9. Fantasmic 10. Muppet Vision 3D Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is easily the highest Tier 2 priority with long waits and limited availability, followed by Tower of Terror which also sees high waits. Waits at Star Tours average 30 minutes, making it a good 4th FP+ selection. FastPass+ saves less time at the shows, where any benefit from using the FP+ requires an arrival early enough that there should be plenty of seats to see the show in standby. Still, FastPass+ does guarantee a seat, which can make an arrival closer to show time work as long as an off- center seat is okay. Frozen Sing-Along is prioritized highest because shows are most likely to fill to capacity and FastPass+ availability is lower. Most guests will benefit more from selecting one of the six rides, when 60+ minutes in line can be saved by using FastPass+. 4th FastPass+ Availability: The Toy Story Land rides, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, and Tower of Terror will either have limited or no availability come 12pm. Using a 4th FP+ at Star Tours makes the most sense, but standby waits are reliably short before 10:30am or after 6:30pm most days anyway. Refresh availability for specific show times as people constantly change plans, opening up experiences. If you’re planning on seeing Fantasmic, keep checking for FastPass+ throughout the late evening even if it isn’t initially available. Others cancelling should open up availability. FastPass+ Kiosks: Main tip board near the end of Hollywood Boulevard To the right of the Muppet Vision 3D entrance Tower of Terror’s old FASTPASS machines to the left of the attraction entrance Toy Story Land entrance, to the left of the walkway into the land One Day Plan – 8am Regular Open or EMH with Toy Story Land First Use FastPass+ at: Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster: 9:15am – 10:15am Tower of Terror: 10:15am – 11:15am Toy Story Land Attraction: 12pm – 1pm The Plan: 1. Ride Slinky Dog Dash: 8am – 8:20am 2. Ride Alien Swirling Saucers: 8:22am – 8:35am 3. Ride Toy Story Mania: 8:40am – 9:15am 4. Ride Star Tours: 9:25am – 9:45am 5. Ride Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster with FastPass+: 9:55am – 10:15am 6. Ride Tower of Terror with FastPass+: 10:17am – 10:40am 7. See Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage: 10:45am – 11:30am 8. Have lunch: 11:30am – 12:30pm 9. Ride a Toy Story Land attraction with FastPass+: 12:40pm – 1pm 10. Continue to blend shows with additional FastPass+ opportunities One Day Plan – 9am Regular Open with Toy Story Land First Use FastPass+ at: Toy Story Land Attraction: 9:30am – 10:30am Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster: 10:45am – 11:45am Tower of Terror: 11:45am – 12:45pm The Plan: 1. Ride Slinky Dog Dash: 9am – 9:20am 2. Ride Alien Swirling Saucers: 9:22am – 9:35am 3. Ride Toy Story Mania: 9:40am – 10:15am 4. Ride a Toy Story Land Attraction with FastPass+: 10:17am – 10:40am 5. Ride Star Tours: 10:45am – 11:15am 6. Ride Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster with FastPass+: 11:25am – 11:45am 7. Ride Tower of Terror with FastPass+: 11:47am – 12:15pm 8. Select a 4th FastPass+ experience 9. Have lunch: 12:20pm – 1:20pm 10. Continue to blend shows with additional FastPass+ opportunities If you’ve booked Slinky Dog Dash FastPass+ in advance and are satisfied experiencing the attraction one time during the day, then you’ll have a much easier and less stressful time heading to Alien Swirling Saucers or Toy Story Mania first. To move on from Toy Story Land earlier in the morning, use FastPass+ at the third attraction you’re visiting to skip whatever standby wait has built up during the first hour. Toy Story Mania FastPass+ see decent availability as a 4th selection and you could skip riding standby early and book FastPass+ for it later. One Day Plan –9am Regular Open with Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster First For an 8am EMH or Regular Open, move expected arrival times up one hour Use FastPass+ at: Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster: 9:45am – 10:45am Tower of Terror: 10:45am – 11:45am A Toy Story Land Attraction: 11:45am – 12:45pm The Plan: 1.

Winter 2015 • Volume24 • Number4 If Disney Files Magazine was a grocery store tabloid, the headline on this edition’s cover may read: Giant Reptile to Terrorize China! Of course, we’d never resort to such sensationalism, even if we are ridiculously excited about the imposing star of the Roaring Rapids attraction in the works for Shanghai Disneyland (pages 3-8). We take ourselves far too seriously for such nonsense. Wait a minute. What am I saying? This isn’t exactly a medical journal, and anyone who’s ever read the fine print at the bottom of this page knows that, if there’s one thing we embrace in theDisney Files newsroom, it’s nonsense! So at the risk of ending our pursuit of a Pulitzer (close as we were), I introduce this issue with a series of headlines crafted with all the journalistic integrity of rags reporting the births of alien babies, celebrity babies…and alien-celebrity babies. Who wore it best? Disney’s Beach Club Villas vs. the Brady family! (Page 13) Evil empire mounting Disney Parks takeover! (Pages 19-20) Prince Harry sending soldiers into Walt Disney World battle! (Page 21) An Affleck faces peril at sea! (Page 24) Mickey sells Pluto on the street! (Page 27) Underage driver goes for joy ride…doesn’t wear seatbelt! (Page 30) Somewhere in Oregon, my journalism professors weep. All of us at Disney Vacation Club wish you a happy holiday season and a “sensational” new year.
