Auditions Open to All Ages!

VACT is excited to bring the community the second installment of its fun filled holiday variety show!! Filled with songs everyone knows and loves, this production will feature a variety of solo and group numbers, sure to get you into the holiday spirit.

Auditions will be held virtually as follows:

th Date and Time: Monday, September 28 from 6-9pm, and Tuesday, September 29th, from 5-9pm. Location: Via Zoom! Once registered, auditioners will sign up for an audition slot and be sent a Zoom link to appear at a virtual audition. Auditioners must provide their own accompaniment or sing acapella. Audition registration link appears at the very bottom of this information sheet.

● There will be no live performance of this production. All numbers will be recorded and then combined into four different 30 minute recorded productions, which will be broadcast on the VACT YouTube channel at specified “performance” times in December. ● This production has a short turnaround time. Rehearsals must be done independently and cannot be done at the VACT building. Recording is planned to be completed by November 1. If we are able to perform outdoor numbers (see song list, below), we may rehearse the outdoor numbers one time, to ensure that proper COVID safety protocols can be met. ● All performance numbers selected for each production will have the option to record their number at home or come to the VACT building at a specified time to record their number onstage. Music will be recorded ahead of time and sent to performers to use for their recording. ● Those wishing to record their songs at the VACT building must be soloists, household members, or groups of 5 or fewer people with whom they do not socially distance. There will be no indoor recordings with people not meeting one of these definitions. No other performers, and very minimal staff will be present if recording at the building. ● For those wishing to record at VACT - If selected for the production, the producer will review all safety precautions to be taken during recording, to ensure performers are comfortable. Performers have the option of changing their recording location at any time, if they do not feel comfortable. If Dane County or State of Wisconsin guidelines become more restrictive, the building recording production option may change. ● In addition to solo and small group numbers, performances will also include a “virtual choir” number, where performers will record their piece at home, to then be engineered into a full choral performance. Performances may also include several moderately sized group numbers, to be performed outside, socially distanced, with appropriate safety precautions in place (these numbers are pending a safety assessment). ● Some members of the madrigal numbers, listed below, have been precast. ● Please review the song list and instructions below, then click on the registration link, to be taken to an audition registration. Once your registration is completed, you will then proceed to Sign Up Genius to register for a virtual audition time. ● Those who are unable to attend the virtual audition may submit a video, which must be submitted to producer Sara Ward-Cassady at [email protected] by 5pm on Tuesday, September 29. Recorded auditions received after that time will not be considered.

Song List Below is a list of songs the directors envisioned as being a part of this production, some with a suggested performer following the song. However, this list is not set in stone, nor are the suggested performers. For the audition, you may audition with one of the songs below, but may choose to do it as a solo, with household members, or with a group of 5 or fewer people with whom you regularly interact with no social distancing. For example, if you wish to sing “Jingle Bells” as a family group, instead of as 1 man and 3 women (as listed below), we encourage you to do so. We are absolutely willing to change our vision of the song for great performances! Additionally, if you wish to perform a holiday song that is not on this list, you are also welcome to audition with that song and we may consider adding it to the production.

All references to “virtual choir” means no in person singing. Each singer will record their section at home, send the recording to the production team, and each piece will then be merged into a final number, that will be a part of the final broadcast.
