Most earthquake aftershock sequences decay over time, with spikes of activity and occasional larger earthquakes. The GeoNet website (http://info.geonet.org.nz/blog/home) has forecasts of expected aftershocks. What to do? For advice on how to get ready for an earthquake (in case of aftershocks), for making a household emergency plan, evacuation information, looking after pets and livestock, how to store water, emergency sanitation, and getting your car and business ready, see http://getthru.govt.nz/how-to-get-ready If you feel a large earthquake that is difficult to stand up in, or lasts longer than one minute, people in coastal areas should: 1.
