Metropolitan State College of Denver is a comprehen- sive, baccalaureate-degree granting, urban college that offers arts and sciences, professional, and business courses and programs to a diverse student population in an atmosphere of mutual respect. Excellence in teaching and learning is Metro State’s primary objec- tive. Here are but a few examples of their achievements: • Kevin Humphreys, a 1992 graduate of the criminalistics program in the Department of Chemistry, is the supervising agent for the Colorado Bureau of Investigation Western Slope Regional Laboratory in Montrose. • Joanne IntVeld, M.D. (1983, nursing) practices internal medicine in Cook, Minnesota. • Dave Zur, who graduated in 1989 with a degree in marketing and media communications, is the vice president of operations for Altitude Sports television in Denver. • Flora Rodriquez Russel (1979, behavioral science) is a psychiatric social worker for the Denver Department of Health and Hospitals, and received the 2007 César Chávez Leadership Hall of Fame Award. • Tracie Keesee (1997, political science) is one of the highest-ranking African American officers in the Denver Police Department and serves as commander fo District 3—the largest in the department. • Colorado State Rep. Joe Rice (1989, history) recently completed his third tour of duty in Iraq as a lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserve, and was recently named as a 2008 Distinguished Alumni Award recipient by the College’s Alumni Association.
