MEDIA RELEASE PARKWAY PANTAI HOSPITALS RE-ACCREDITED BY JOINT COMMISSION INTERNATIONAL (JCI) Singapore, 22 January 2013 – Parkway Pantai Limited’s (PPL) two flagship hospitals in Singapore -- Gleneagles Hospital (GEH) and Mount Elizabeth Hospital (MEH) -- have recently been re-accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI) in December 2012. GEH and MEH received their first JCI accreditations in 2006. As part of the re-accreditation process, the hospitals were put through a stringent audit review. JCI surveyors were on-site at the hospitals to review their respective operating procedures and practices. The survey results show that both hospitals have achieved improvements from three years ago. They have also scored full compliance in several important areas, such as International Patient Safety Goals, Quality and Patient Safety, as well as Medication Management and Use, among others. Accordingly, JCI has awarded both GEH and MEH accreditation for another three years. Dr Tan See Leng, Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of PPL, said, “JCI is an important part of our journey in achieving higher standards of patient care and clinical outcomes. This is a strong testament to Parkway Pantai Group’s ongoing efforts in quality improvement. Patients who walk through the doors of our hospitals can be assured that they are in good hands and will receive world class medical care.” JCI is the world’s most recognised international healthcare accreditation body that sets and monitors standards for healthcare organisations globally. The JCI accreditation is an ongoing process and involves re-accreditation audit every three years. PPL’s flagship hospital in Malaysia, Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur (PHKL) also received official notification on its accreditation. With this, PHKL is now the first hospital in the Klang Valley and the second in Malaysia to achieve re-accreditation under the JCI triennial audit. Currently in Singapore, three out of four PPL hospitals1 are JCI-accredited. The group has plans to achieve JCI-accreditation for all its major hospitals located at medical tourism hubs in the region, including its latest and fourth hospital, Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital which just opened in July last year. - END - 1PPL has four hospitals in Singapore: Gleneagles Hospital, Mount Elizabeth Hospital , Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital and Parkway East Hospital About Parkway Pantai Limited Parkway Pantai Limited, part of the IHH Healthcare Berhad group, is one of the region's largest integrated private healthcare groups with a network of 17 hospitals and more than 3,000 beds throughout Asia, including Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, India, China and Vietnam.
