World Heritage in Japan: a photographic Italian POW Heritage Display Remembering the Cowra Prisoner of War Camp exhibition This commemorative display of Italian POW A joint exhibition featuring items from the A collection of stunning images from World heritage items includes artworks from the Gallery collections of the Cowra Breakout Association, Heritage listed sites, encapsulating the beauty and POW collection and rarely seen heritage items on Cowra & District Historical Society Inc and the diversity of Japan’s natural and cultural legacies loan to the Gallery. This exhibition is presented Cowra-Italy Friendship Association. by renowned Japanese photographer Kazuyoshi by Cowra Regional Art Gallery as part of the Open daily 9:00 am to 5:00pm. Admission free. Miyoshi. Cowra Prisoner of War Breakout 70th Anniversary Official opening – Saturday 2 August – 10:00 am. Visitors will recognise iconic landmarks such as commemorations with the support of the Cowra Kyoto’s Kinkaku-ji (Temple of the Golden Pavilion), Italy Friendship Association. well-known for its impressive adornment of gold leaf, whilst another prominent monument is the Genbaku Dome (Atomic Bomb Dome /Hiroshima Peace Memorial); a sombre reminder for world peace. Upon travelling further south to the island of Miyajima, the water-submerged otorii gate welcomes its guests to the Itsukushima-jinja Shrine, memorable for its bright orange pillars and floating stage for Japanese traditional performances. This exhibition is presented by Cowra Regional Art Gallery in collaboration with the Japan Foundation, Sydney and is part of the Cowra Prisoner of War Breakout 70th Anniversary commemorations.
