Whoev- er honors his father atones for sins, and preserves himself from them. When he prays, he is heard; he stores up riches who reveres his mother. Whoever honors his father is gladdened by children, and, when he prays, is heard. Whoever reveres his father will live a long life; he who obeys his father brings comfort to his mother. My son, take care of your father when he is old; grieve him not as long as he lives. Even if his mind fail, be considerate of him; revile him not all the days of his life; kindness to a father will not be forgotten, firmly planted against the debt of your sins—a house raised in justice to you. Lector: The Word of the Lord. | ALL: Thanks be to God. PSALM 128: 1-2, 3, 4-5 (1) | “Blessed are those who fear the Lord and walk in his way.” 1. Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in his ways! For you shall eat the fruit of your handiwork; blessed shall you be, and favored. 2. Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine in the recesses of your home; your children like olive plants around your table. 3. Behold, thus is the man blessed who fears the Lord. The Lord bless you from Zion: may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life. SECOND READING Colossians 3: 12-21 Brothers and sisters: Put on, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, heartfelt compassion, kind- ness, humility, gentleness, and patience, bearing with one another and forgiving one another, if one has a grievance against another; as the Lord has forgiven you, so must you also do. And over all these put on love, that is, the bond of perfection. And let the peace of Christ control your hearts, the peace into which you were also called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, as in all wisdom you teach and admonish one another, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Wives, be subordinate to your husbands, as is proper in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and avoid any bitterness toward them.Children, obey your parents in everything, for this is pleasing to the Lord. Fathers, do not provoke your children, so they may not become discouraged. Lector: The Word of the Lord. | ALL: Thanks be to God. GOSPEL Luke 2: 22, 39-40 When the days were completed for their purification according to the law of Moses, they took him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord. When they had fulfilled all the prescriptions of the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth. The child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom; and the favor of God was upon him. Celebrant: The Gospel of the Lord. | ALL: Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ. St. Kilian Catholic Church Page 3 PROFESSION OF FAITH I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, (bow your head through “and became man”) and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen. LITURGY OF THE EUCHARIST ALL: May the Lord accept this sacrifice at your hands for the praise and glory of his name, for our good and the good of all his holy Church. HOLY Holy, holy, holy Lord God of hosts. Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna, hosanna in the highest. MEMORIAL ACCLAMATION We proclaim your Death, O Lord, and profess your Resurrection until you come again. (OR) Save us, Savior of the world, for by your Cross and Resurrection you have set us free. (OR) When we eat this Bread and drink this Cup, we proclaim your Death, O Lord, until you come again. HOLY COMMUNION Celebrant: Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb. ALL: Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed. Communion Protocol: Please step out of your car and the Priest or Eucharistic Minister will come to you. If you desire to receive Communion on the tongue, please lineup to the left of the altar area to receive Communion from the Priest once he is finished with distributing Communion to the rest of the congregation. Thank you for your cooperation. PRAYER TO SAINT MICHAEL Saint Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray: and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into Hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen. Celebrant: The Mass has ended. Go in peace to love and serve the Lord! ALL: Thanks be to God. THANK YOU FOR JOINING US TODAY!
