Archangels Michael and Zadkiel
Archangels Michael and Zadkiel Michael is the great Archangel of God who has committed himself to the protection of the Son's (and daughters) of God. He carries a sword of Light to cut humanity free of the burdens of darkness that it sometimes carries. He is the Prince of Archangels and defeated Satan, who chose to turn from God and oppress mankind. He is the crusader of the Christ who will protect the soul of man and bring the presence of peace to those who choose to ask his help. He champions the Will of God and not the lower will of humanity. Yet with Love He will help humanity find the Divine path and protect the souls of those that chose it. Zadkiel is the Archangel of the violet flame. Zadkiel is the angel of the flame of forgiveness and of spiritual freedom. Love is the essence of all angels and Zadkiel, in love, will help mankind free themselves from the bonds of pain and karma they have created. The violet flame cleanses humanity of the accumulated debris of hatred and helps re-establish freedom, by transmuting mankind's mis-creations into the pure essence of Light that flows from God. We can choose to understand and feel the spiritual qualities of these two of God's messengers. We will ask for God's blessing through these angels and search for understanding of our role in God's creation. Archangel Gabriel I want to share some experiences I had with Archangel Gabriel. I had received wonderful upliftment and I believe we can all receive that. -

PROJECT CONNECT PROJECT CONNECT PROJECT CONNECT The Truth About Angels by Donald L. Deffner I grew up during the Great Depression in the early 1930s. My father was a minister. Behind our small home was a dirt alley which led nine blocks to downtown Wichita, Kansas. I can remember when I was a boy the hungry, destitute men who came to the back door begging for food. My mother never turned them down. She shared what little we had, even if only a couple of pieces of bread and a glass of milk. My mother didn’t just say, “Depart in peace! I’ll pray for you! Keep warm and well fed!” (See James 2:16.) No. She acted. She gave. Often I was curious about these mysterious and somewhat scary men. I had a sense that they were “different” than I was, not worse, not better, just different. I always watched these strangers heading back up the alley toward downtown, and sometimes, in a cops-and-robbers fashion, I secretly followed them, jumping behind bushes so I wouldn’t be seen. I think I half expected them to suddenly disappear. After all, my Sunday school teacher, encouraging us to be kind and care for strangers, told us the Bible says that, by doing so, many people have entertained angels without knowing it (see Hebrews 13:2). I never saw any of the men disappear. They were ordinary, hungry human beings. But my Sunday school teacher was right. God does send His angels to us, and they do interact with us—not just to test us and see if we are kind, but to protect us and guide us. -

The letter, Patris Corde (“a Father’s heart”) was released on the 150th anniversary of the proclamation of Saint Joseph as patron of the Universal Church. Journey with Joseph Pilgrimage We will soon be announcing Saint Joseph pilgrimage sites across the Diocese. Indulgence The Apostolic Penitentiary issued a decree on December 8, 2020, formally announcing the decision of Pope Francis to celebrate the Year of Saint Joseph through December 8, 2021. Special opportunities to receive a plenary indulgence were also included, subject to the usual conditions: sacramental confession, reception of Holy Communion, prayer for the intentions of the Pope, and total detachment to all sin, including venial sin. Due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Holy See made provision in its decree that persons who are currently unable to go to Mass or confession because of public health restrictions may defer reception of those two sacraments until they are able to do so. Those who are sick, suffering, or homebound may also receive the plenary indulgence by fulfilling as much as they are able and by offering their sorrows and sufferings to God through Saint Joseph, consoler of the sick and patron saint for receiving a good death. -

If Angels Do Not Have a Gender Then How Come They Have Boys Names?
If angels do not have a gender then how come they have boys names? It is true that we believe that angels do not have gender. Angels unlike human beings are pure spirit. This is why when people say that a human being has become an angel in heaven that is incorrect. Any human being in heaven is a saint. It is true that human beings until the resurrection of the dead while in heaven only contain their spiritual nature. But when Christ comes again, and the resurrection of the dead occurs at that moment human beings will become complete joining the physical and spiritual together in heaven. Hence, angels and human beings are not simply a different species they are different order of creation. As such angels can never become human and humans can never become angels. But when angels have been revealed to human beings, they taken on the appearance of somewhat human form. They did this in order for human beings to be able to comprehend the message that is being given to them from God. The word angel means messenger. And each angel has a specific function to perform based on their rank. There are nine ranks of angels: Seraphim, Cherubim, Thrones, Dominions, Virtues, Powers, Principalities, Archangels and Angels. Seraphim are caretakers to the throne of God and lead the worship of God in heaven. Cherubim guard the tree of life and the throne of God. Thrones are living symbols of God’s justice and authority and listening to the will of God present the prayers of human beings to Him. -

These tribulations are best exemplified in the tale of Taddeo Zuccaro, a young lad who left his home on the eastern coast of Italy at the tender age of 14 to pursue a career as an artist in the great metropolis of Rome. His tenuous journey of starvation, deprivation, sickness, and ultimately triumph—sensitively recounted by his younger brother, Federico, who would himself become an artist of great significance—will be celebrated in a major international loan exhibition organized by the J. Paul Getty Museum. The Feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary
Faith Fact Feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph The Feast of the Holy Family celebrates the family unit and the Holy Family: Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. The feast usually falls on the Sunday after Christmas. If Christmas is a Sunday, then the feast is celebrated on December 30. The Holy Family is the name given to the family unit of Jesus: The Divine Son of God Jesus, his mother Mary, and his foster-father Joseph. Devotion to the Holy Family is a recent development, but one that naturally grows out of a love for Jesus and his family. The cult of the Holy Family grew in popularity in the 17th Century, and several religious congregations have been founded under this title. The Holy Family also became portrayed in popular art of the period. On October 26, 1921 the Congregation of Rites (under Pope Benedict XV) inserted the Feast of the Holy Family into the Latin Rite general calendar. Until then, it had been celebrated regionally. Popes before and including Benedict XV (especially Leo XIII) promoted the feast as a way to counter the breakdown of the family unit. Today, the Church celebrates the Feast on the Sunday between Christmas and New Year’s Day (known as the Feast of Mary, Mother of God in the Catholic Church). If both Christmas and New Year’s Day fall on Sundays, no Sunday exists between the two dates, so the Church celebrates the Holy Family Feast on December 30. If the feast falls on the 30th, attendance is not obligatory. -

Annie Cornwell, Postgraduate in the Conservation of Easel Paintings Amalie Juel, MA Art History Uncovering the Original: An Examination of a 17th-Century copy of Raphael’s The Holy Family, c. 1518, The Prado Madrid. Introduction to The Project: This report has been written as part of the annual project Conservation and Art Historical Analysis, presented by the Sackler Research Forum at the Courtauld Institute of Art. Seeking to encourage collaboration between art historians and conservators, the scheme brings together two students - one from postgraduate art history and the other from easel paintings conservation - to complete an in-depth research project on a single piece of art. By doing so, the project allows a multifaceted approach combining historical research with technical analysis and, in this case, conservation treatment of the work in question. Focusing on the painting as a physical object with a material history, the project shows the value of combining art history with the more scientific aspects of the field of conservation. The focus of this project is a painting of the Virgin and Child with Saints Anne and John - a copy of Raphael’s Holy Family from the Prado - of unknown artist and date. It is owned by St Patrick’s Catholic Church in Wapping, where it had been recently found in a cupboard underneath the stairs. It came into the Courtauld Conservation Department to be treated by Annie Cornwell in November 2015, at which point it was in quite poor condition.
