Developed by At Orkney Brewery we create World Beers & Ciders traditional craft brewed ales full of flavour using only the Sinclair finest of ingredients. Breweries Roger White and his wife Irene opened the Orkney Brewery in 1988 as a retirement project and to restore brewing tradition in the Orkney Isles. The brewery is housed in a former schoolhouse in Quoyloo on Orkney's mainland. Orkney's original Head Brewer was Rob Hill, now of Highland Brewery. The original brew plant was set up by Ringwood Brewery's Peter Austin and comprised of a hacked together ten barrel brewing plant. A completely new brewhouse was built adjacent to the original one in the mid 1990s expanding capacity to 150 barrels per week. The money the brewery saved during progressive beer duty was re-invested in further expansion including a new cask-racking facility and a much needed visitor centre. Orkney Brewery was taken over by Norman Sinclair's Sinclair Breweries in 2006 along with the former Atlas Brewery at Kinlochleven. Some of the Atlas beers are now brewed at Orkney under the Atlas range name.

Asia Pacific Breweries was the largest brewery in Singapore with operations in several countries, including Malaysia, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, China, and New Zealand. Anchor beer was a mainstream value label that had been in the market for more than 70 years. The brand suffered ten years of continuous decline in the 1990s and its market share had fallen to less than 6 percent. At this time some drastic decisions were clearly needed to either reposition or retire the non-performing brand. The two marketers were charged with the responsibility to evaluate the potential of Anchor beer and to define a new strategic role if possible. Melvyn Ng believed that repositioning was the best option but must now convince Dr.

  • Investigate Succession in a Family Business in the Beer Industry
Succession in a Family Business in the Beer Industry by Bertram S. Human Submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements of the degree of Masters in Business Administration at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University Nov 2013 Promoter/Supervisor: Dr. M Cullen ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS I would like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to the following: During the theoretical part of the MBA, NMMU assigned me to Syndicate Group 7.1. I would like to thank this group for all the hard work and for staying so focused on delivery. An informal group developed with members from across other formal groups named “Da BORG”. To Da BORG I would like to extend my heartfelt appreciation and acknowledgement for their contribution in my intellectual growth during this journey. Dr. M. Cullen persevered with me and for this I am grateful. Lance Kajokoto was a steady rock and his quest for excellence was motivating. I have been encouraged by the struggles of the lives of Rev RBJ and Mrs. Human (De and Ma). I express thanks to my wife and son for the unwavering support through this entire journey. I give glory to God my Maker who has blessed me with an abundance in every aspect of my life. i ABSTRACT Every business organisation has a unique set of challenges and problems. The family business is mainly affected by personal factors and family political influences. Most family business political influences are based on succession. Many of these problems exist in corporate business environments, but can be exaggerated in a family business. Family businesses go through various stages of growth and development over time.

Rozmowa i formułowanie wzajemnych oczekiwań pozwalają nam zarządzać firmą w sposób zrównoważony, z uwzględnieniem dłu- goterminowej perspektywy. Dzięki temu, wykorzystując dostępne dziś zasoby naturalne, nie pozbawiamy przyszłych pokoleń możliwości korzystania z nich.

  • Online Case 13.3 H.P.Bulmer
OnLine Case 13.3 H.P.Bulmer The UK is the world’s leading producer of cider, with France in second place. H. P. Bulmer is the leading UK producer with nearly two thirds of the UK market. It manufactures some 480 million of the 800 million pints sold every year. The major brands are Strongbow, Woodpecker and Scrumpy Jack. The company was first established in 1887 when the son of a local vicar began using the apples from the vicarage orchard. To many, cider was an efficacious cure for a number of ailments. His first brand was Woodpecker, in 1894. Some 50% of the shares remained in family hands or family control up to 2003 and descendants of the Bulmer family retained seats on the Board. The company’s objectives were listed in Box 2.1. The company began losing money in the early years of the twenty first century and Bulmer’s was forced to call in a turnaround specialist. Corporate debts amounted to £100 against a capitalisation of £67 million. A profit write-off was required to cover capitalised product development costs and goodwill on recent acquisitions in America. There was also a shortfall in the pension fund to deal with – caused by the decline in the value of equities generally. The real, underlying problem is that the cider industry has never been particularly big and it had become vulnerable to competition from new alcopop drinks such as Smirnoff Ice in the 1990s. In an attempt to deal with the impact of these issues, the CEO at the time (Mike Hughes) sought expansion overseas.

MEDIA RELEASE HEINEKEN Response to CMA Decision Amsterdam, 13 June 2017 - HEINEKEN N.V. (EURONEXT: HEIA; OTCQX: HEINY) notes today's decision by the Competition and Markets Authority (the ‘CMA’) to refer the proposed acquisition by Heineken UK Limited (‘HEINEKEN’) of Punch Securitisation A (‘Punch A’) for a Phase 2 investigation unless HEINEKEN offers acceptable undertakings to address points raised by the CMA. HEINEKEN intends to offer acceptable undertakings and is confident that these will enable the transaction to be approved by the CMA without a Phase 2 referral. David Forde, Managing Director for HEINEKEN UK said: "We welcome this positive step towards completing our acquisition of Punch A. This decision by the CMA acknowledges that there are only a small number of local areas where competition may be diminished due to our acquisition of the pubs in Punch A. We are confident we can offer the CMA suitable undertakings to satisfy their concerns.” ENDS Press enquiries John-Paul Schuirink E-mail: [email protected] Tel: +31-20-5239-355 Michael Fuchs E-mail: [email protected] Tel: +31-20-5239-355 Investor and analyst enquiries Sonya Ghobrial E-mail: [email protected] Tel: +31-20-5239-590 Chris MacDonald E-mail: [email protected] Tel: +31-20-5239-590 P.O.
