A phrenological bijou: or, vade-mecum of mental science, being a brief illustration of the organs, as arranged on Mr. Akin's Palladian bust, and likewise his set of phrenological models; with concise remarks on cerebral development and the combination of faculties; also cautionary hints for guiding the judgement of the juvenile student. Contents in beautifully fresh condition. 8.5” x 5.2”, in plain grey paper-covered boards, clean and firm though slightly knocked, but with the spine severely chipped and disintegrating. VG. 002 A. In original dark green cloth, lettered in gilt on front, firm. Extremities knocked and small tear at head of upper joint. VG. 003 (Anon). With a folding frontis and one text illustration. Frontis foxed, slight soiling of first few leaves, otherwise clean. Small soiling spot to front pastedown and facing endpaper. Tall 8vo, 7.5” x 5.1”, in original binding of decorative blind-stamped maroon cloth lettered on front in gilt, firm and clean, extremities slightly knocked and scuffed. VG. 004 (Anon). Ref.RC/33.24. Text clean, plates have some foxing: a few spots to title page. Front free endpaper removed, bookseller’s miniature label on pastedown. In original binding of brown cloth, decorated in blind and lettered in gilt. Spine ends slightly knocked, small patch of discolouration to lower board, otherwise in very bright clean condition. Tall 8vo, 8.4” x 5.5”, in original thin purple textured boards with printed green label. Some wear to edges and corners, and the label is partially disfigured by a splash. Some cockling and faint tide mark affecting upper part of pages. With only the second of the two plates at the back, a large fold-out, clean but with a small tear. Marbled endpapers slightly stained. Small octavo (6.5” x 4.2”) in contemporary full mottled calf with gilt decorated spine: some surface damage and label chipped (no loss of print).
