Microsoft Teams Meeting Added For Web and Video Conferencing

The Technology Organization is excited to announce, as of today, Teams Meeting is available to you as an approved alternative to for Business for scheduled audio/web meetings and video conferencing.

Microsoft Teams is a communication hub to help keep teams informed and productive. It provides one place to conduct peer-to- peer chatting, project or departmental brainstorming, file sharing, and now meetings.

With Teams Meeting, you can join and schedule meetings directly from your Outlook calendar just like you do with Skype or from the Microsoft Teams calendar and channel. Teams Meeting also offers some new features like “raising your hand” and the ability to see nine video participants simultaneously. Microsoft Teams can be accessed from the desktop, web via Office 365 portal at office.com, and mobile device.

Overview of Microsoft Teams Meeting implementation: We are transitioning to Microsoft Teams as the primary audio and video meeting solution. • Initially, audio and video meetings in Microsoft Teams will be a voluntary alternative to . However, we ask that you use either Skype for Business or Microsoft Teams for hosting your meetings and avoid using third-party alternatives, such as . • After a few months, we will begin a phased transition to replace Skype with Microsoft Teams. You will be notified when this transition will occur and training will also be offered to help you get started using Teams meetings.

What you can expect when Teams Meeting is enabled: • Microsoft Teams is now available on your company workstation with virtual desktop deployment coming soon. • When the Teams Meeting capability is enabled for you, you’ll receive and email with the subject, “You now have Audio Conferencing for Microsoft Teams or Skype for Business Online – Here is your dial-in information and PIN.” Retain this email for future reference. Restart Outlook after receiving this email. • In your Outlook calendar, you will see the Teams Meeting add-ins along with the Skype add-ins. For this change to take effect, you may be required to reboot your workstation or reset your add-in using these instructions. • You can create and join Teams Meeting from your Outlook calendar using the “New Teams Meeting” and “Join Teams Meeting” add-ins. You can also create and join scheduled meetings from “New Meeting” in the Microsoft Teams calendar and channels. • If there are issues hindering the ability to conduct effective Teams meetings, you may be temporarily directed to use Skype for Business. • Join the Microsoft Teams 101 community to receive announcements and share ideas with others.
