Sa‘etak Sezanizam ili Cézanneov na~in rje{avanja konstrukcije oblika i pros- Uzelca, M. Trep{ea i V. Beci}a) izlaganih na VII. i IX. izlo‘bi Proljet- tora nije u hrvatskom slikarstvu nai{ao na {iroku pravovremenu nog salona mogu}e je odrediti karakter kratkotrajnih sezanisti~kih recepciju i potpuna shva}anja, ali se, kao svje‘e i poticajno iskustvo, priklona u na{emu slikarstvu. Potezi kistom na{ih slikara nikada nisu pojavio na izlo‘bama Proljetnog salona, izme|u 1919. i 1921. godi- poprimili dostatan konstruktivni karakter, kao {to ni shva}anje boje ne. Golemo zna~enje za tada ostvarene sezanisti~ke priklone ima nije bilo potpuno, niti je poprimilo »sezanovsku« ~isto}u. Ipak, ova slikarstvo Miroslava Kraljevi}a, koji je u ovu sredinu prenio po~etne nepotpuna sezanisti~ka artikulacija put je usvajanju osnova ~vrste impulse ekspresionizma, ali i na osoban na~in usvojen Cézanneov konstrukcije i vje{tine komponiranja, te ima zna~aj ~vrstog temelja i princip. Tako|er, od velike je va‘nosti bio utjecaj Praga kao mjesta logi~nog razvojnog spoja za stilska kretanja koja }e uslijediti. Stoga {kolovanja i boravka na{ih slikara. Me|utim, sezanizam nije bio sezanizam Proljetnog salona (mo‘emo ga nazvati na{im »drugim »~ist«, ve} se paralelno pojavljivao i mije{ao s ostalim stilskim us- sezanizmom«, ako Kraljevi}a i Beci}a iz pari{kih razdoblja shvatimo mjerenjima, a posebice s ekspresionizmom. -

Book Art in Croatia BOOK ART IN CROATIA National and University Library in Zagreb, Zagreb, 2018 Contents Foreword / 4 Centuries of Book Art in Croatia / 5 Catalogue / 21 Foreword The National and University Library in Croatia, with the aim to present and promote the Croatian cultural heritage has prepared the exhibition Book Art in Croatia. The exhibition gives a historical view of book preparation and design in Croatia from the Middle Ages to the present day. It includes manuscript and printed books on different topics and themes, from mediaeval evangelistaries and missals to contemporary illustrated editions, print portfolios and artists’ books. Featured are the items that represent the best samples of artistic book design in Croatia with regard to their graphic design and harmonious relationship between the visual and graphic layout and content. The author of the exhibition is art historian Milan Pelc, who selected 60 items for presentation on panels. In addition to the introductory essay, the publication contains the catalogue of items with short descriptions. 4 Milan Pelc CENTURIES OF BOOK ART IN CROATIA Introduction Book art, a constituent part of written culture and Croatian cultural heritage as a whole, is ex- ceptionally rich and diverse. This essay does not pretend to describe it in its entirety. Its goal is to shed light on some (key) moments in its complex historical development and point to its most important specificities. The essay does not pertain to entire Croatian literary heritage, but only to the part created on the historical Croatian territory and created by the Croats. Namely, with regard to its origins, the Croatian literary heritage can be divided into three big groups. -

Oh, sacred struggle between the left and the right, on This Day and on the Day of Judgment, I stand on the far left, the very far left. Be‑ cause, only a terrible cry against Nonsense can accelerate the whisper of a new Sense. It was with this paragraph that August Cesarec ended his manifesto ‘Two Orientations’, published in the second issue of the “bimonthly for all cultural problems” Plamen (Zagreb, 1919; 15 issues in total), which he co‑edited with Miroslav Krleža. With a strong dose of revolutionary euphoria and ex‑ pressionistic messianic pathos, the manifesto demonstrated the ideational and political platform of the magazine, founded by the two avant‑garde writers from Zagreb, activists of the left wing of the Social Democratic Party of Croatia, after the October Revolution and the First World War. It was the struggle between the two orientations, the world social revolution led by Bolshevik Russia on the one hand, and the world of bourgeois counter‑revolution led by the Entente Forces on the other, that was for Cesarec pivot‑ al in determining the future of Europe and mankind, and therefore also of the newly founded Kingdom of Serbs, Cro‑ ats and Slovenes (Kingdom of SCS), which had allied itself with the counter‑revolutionary bloc. -

UMJETNI ČKI PAVILJON 3. DOKUMENTACIJA Evidencija dokumentacijskih fondova Umjetni čkog paviljona vodi se u programu S++ te dijelom u popisima u Excelu i Wordu. 3.5. Videoteka Izložbe Vlado Kristl: Prije egzila , Proljetni salon 1916 - 1928 , Kinetizam od po četaka do danas , Gerhard Richter - retrospektivni pregled i Sto vrhunskih djela hrvatskih umjetnika 1850 -1950. iz zbirki Narodnog muzeja u Beogradu , snimljene su kao 5 zasebnih CD zapisa virtualnih šetnji, a navedene su snimke objedinjene krajem godine na zajedni čkom CD-u koji se ve ć tradicionalno izdaje u povodu Dana Umjetni čkog paviljona. Svaka izložba održana u Umjetni čkom paviljonu za koju je objavljen prilog na radiju i televiziji zabilježena je na CD-u i DVD-u u produkciji tvrtke Presscut. Elektroni čki zapisi dostavljani su mjese čno ili prema potrebi, te je na taj na čin u zbirku Medijateke uvršteno 11 CD-ova sa 66 radijskih priloga te 17 DVD-ova s 30 TV priloga. 3.6. Hemeroteka Hemerote čna gra đa pove ćala se od 8. listopada 2007. za 128 napisa iz tiskovina i 115 napisa s web stranica, a ukupno za oko 512 napisa u tiskovinama i 500 napisa na web stranicama. 3.7. Planoteka i fond dokumentacijskih crteža U arhivi Paviljona na đen je 51 arhitektonski nacrt, od kojih su 42 ra đena na paus papiru, a 9 na obi čnom papiru. Najstariji nacrti datirani su 1953. i čine mapu projekata postava izložbi, zatim slijedi 7 nacrta iz prosinca 1963., iz 1970. potje če 5 nacrta, iz travnja 1984. potje če 5 nacrta, a iz sije čnja 1985. -

Filozofski vestnik | Letnik XXXVII | Številka 1 | 2016 | 201–219 Miško Šuvaković* Avant-Gardes in Yugoslavia In this study, I will approach the avant-gardes as interdisciplinary, internation- ally oriented artistic and cultural practices.1 I will present and advocate the the- sis that the Yugoslav avant-gardes were a special geopolitical and geo-aesthetic set of artistic and cultural phenomena defined by the internal dynamics and interrelations of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes and the Kingdom of Yugoslavia and by the external dynamics, cosmopolitan relations, and inter- nationalisations of local artistic excess and experimentation with international avant-garde practices. I will devote special attention to the local and interna- tional networking of cities as the political and cultural environments where the avant-gardes took place. Above all, the avant-gardes thereby acquired the char- acter of extremely urban artistic and cultural phenomena. Introductory Interpretation of the Concept of the Avant-garde Discussing the status, functions, and effects of any avant-garde does not boil down to asking what phenomenal or conceptual, i.e. formalist, qualities are characteristic of an avant-garde work of art, the behaviour of an avant-garde artist, or her private or public life. On the contrary, equally important are direc- tional questions regarding the instrumental potentialities or realisations of the avant-garde as an interventional material artistic practice in between or against dominant and marginal domains, practices, or paradigms within historical or 201 present cultures. Avant-garde artistic practices are historically viewed as trans- formations of artistic, cultural, and social resistances, limitations, and ruptures within dominant, homogeneous or hegemonic artistic, cultural, and social en- vironments. -
Vlaho Bukovac and My Search for His Paintings in England
VLAHO BUKOVAC AND MY SEARCH FOR HIS PAINTINGS IN ENGLAND It was in the late 1980s, after I had read the delightful autobiography by the painter Vlaho Bukovac, 1855 – 1922, published in Zagreb in 1918, that I realised that this important Croatian artist had found “home from home” in North Yorkshire, just as I had done in the small town of Bedale, my late husband's family home. Harrogate, where Samson Fox, 1838 – 1903, one of Vlaho's most important collectors in England lived, was only a matter of miles away from Bedale, a drive of less than an hour. Harrogate was then, and still is today, a lively spa town, where people came to drink sulphur waters for their health, to spend a holiday, to enjoy themselves, to make friends, to see exhibitions and to go to the theatre. The famous Royal Pump Room, now a museum, was a place to meet. Samson Fox, the ancestor of the present day well known acting family, Edward, Robert, James, Emilia Fox, to mention just a few, was a self-made engineer and a clever business man, who had invented an important part for the engines of steamships and had thus become very wealthy himself. He had been elected three times the Mayor of Harrogate, never repeated since, owing to his good works and generosity to many causes. His bust, by Prince Victor von Hohenlohe-Langenborg, still graces the corridors of the Royal College of Music in London. Fox had donated £45,000, a very large amount at the time, for the building of the College in 1894. -

Određenim značajkama ekspresionističkog slikarstva moguće je pronaći odgovarajuće pandane u poetičkim obilježjima ekspresionističke lirike. -
