Strath Haven Middle School Student Name ______6th Grade Summer Reading List

During the summer, all incoming sixth grade students are required to: 1. Read one book from the list that fits with their reading level at the end of fifth grade. 2. Complete the accompanying summer reading movie poster project.

We encourage students to read beyond their required book, and provide recommendations of such selections. The poster project, however, must be completed based on a required book from the student’s reading level band. Students should log their completed books on this reading log, which will be collected at the beginning of the school year. This paper should be turned in during the first week of school to your Language Arts teacher for credit. We also encourage the students to keep a small journal or “jot log” while they read so that they can use the notes to assist them with the project requirements. This does not need to be turned in to the Language Arts teacher.
