RECOMMENDATIONS: \ A. That the City Council designate the unnumbered location situated one sidewalk square northerly of and between numbered locations 27F and 28f as shown on Sheet #14 of Plan D-13788 for the Hollywood Walk of Fame for the installation of the name of Jim Parsons at 6533 Hollywood Boulevard.

B. Inform the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce ofthe Council's action on this matter.

C. That this report be adopted prior to the date of the ceremony on March 11, 2015.

FISCAL IMPACT STATEMENT:

No General Fund Impact. All cost paid by permittee.

DISCUSSION:

The Walk ofFame Committee ofthe Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has submitted a request for insertion into the Hollywood Walk of Fame the name of Jim Parsons. The ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, March 11,2015 at 11:30 a.m.

The communicant's request is in accordance with City Council action of October 18, 1978, under Council File No. 78-3949. Following the Council's action of approval, and upon proper application and payment of the required fee, an installation permit can be secured at 201 N. Figueroa Street, 3rd Floor, Counter 23.

The Walk of Fame Committee of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has approved the below listed name for insertion into the Hollywood Walk of Fame:

JIM PARSONS-(Category -TELEVISION). Requested star location to be 6533 Hollywood Blvd., North side of the street in front of the historic HUDSON APARTMENTS. The star for JIM PARSONS will be placed in the second row next to the original row closest to the property. The stars situated in the original row where star is situated are ELIZABE1H MONTGOMERY (28f) to the WEST and MORTON GOULD 9 27F) to the east According to sheet# 14 plan 13788, JIM PARSONS' star will be next to two blank squares to the east and west of his proposed star spot. The second row spots have no designated numbers. The dedication ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at 11:30 a.m.

JIM PARSONS

Four-time Emmy winner, Golden Globe® Award winner and SAG Nominee, Jim Parsons continues to bring a winning combination of indelible charm, charisma and comedic timing to his roles on screen and on stage, establishing' himself as one of Hollywood's leading men.

Parsons stars as 'Sheldon Cooper' on CBS' critically acclaimed hit The Big Bang Theory. He has received several awards for his hilarious performance, including four Emmy Awards for 'Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series', the Golden Globe Award for 'Best Actor in a Television Series Musical or Comedy' and the Critics' Choice Television Award for 'Best Actor in a Comedy Series'. The Big Bang Theory has helped CBS launch their Thursday night comedy line-up, regularly winning the night across all networks. The Big Bang Theory is presently in the middle of its 8th season.

On the big screen, Parsons will play the lead voice in HOME, a DreamWorks Animation adaption of the award-winning book The True Meaning of Smekday by Adam Rex co-starring singer/actress Rihanna. In HOME, a friendly alien race invades Earth and uses it as a hideout from their mortal enemy. When one lowly alien (Parsons) accidentally notifies the enemies of his Whereabouts, he is forced to go on the run with a teenage girl (Rihanna), embarking on a comical road-trip across a post-apocalyptic America and learning what it really means to be human. HOME is set to hit theaters on March 27, 2015.

Parsons most recently participated in the Roundabout Theatre Company's reading of George S. Kaufman andl Marc Connelly's Merton of the Movies, directed by Scott Ellis. The one-night-only reading took place on December 1, 2014 at Studio 54, with all proceeds benefitting the Roundabout's New Play Initiative. He also voiced the lead character, 'Buddy' in NBC's animated holiday special, Elf: Buddy's Musical Christmas. The special was based on the popular film Elf and the hit Broadway show Elf The Musical. The stop motion hour-long special aired in December 2014.

In Spring 2014, Parsons starred opposite Taylor Kitsch, , and Matt Bomer in , HBO's original movie adaptation of the Tony Award-winning play, which was written by Kramer and directed by '. The project tells the story of the onset of the HIV-AIDS crisis in City in the early 1980s. Parsons portrayed the role of gay activist Tommy Boatwright, reprising his role from the 2011 Broadway revival. Parsons received an Emmy nomination for his role, and the film won an Emmy for 'Outstanding Television Movie'.

Previously, Parsons has appeared in many films including Blumhouse Production's thriller Visions opposite Isla Fisher, Gillian Jacobs and Anson Mount; Todd Phillips Schoo/ for Scoundrels opposite Billy Bob Thorton and Jon Hader for The Weinstein Company; as well as Chris Terrio's Heights opposite and for MerchanUivory. He has also created scene stealing roles in several independent films such as Zach Braffs Wish I Was Here and Garden State, Kevin Connolly's Gardner of Eden and Danny Leiner's The Great New Wonderful.

On the stage, Parsons starred in the Broadway revival of Mary Chase's Pulitzer Prize winning play Harvey, in the role of 'Elwood Dowd', the genial eccentric who claims to see a six-foot-tall white rabbit Harvey. The production ran with limited engagement at the famous Studio 54 in . Parsons received a Theatre World Award for his debut Broadway performance as 'Tommy Boatwright' in The Normal Heart, starring opposite Ellen Barkin, John Benjamin Hickey, and Joe Manteno. The Normal Heart won a Tony Award for "Best Revival of a Play" and was presented with the Drama Desk Award for "Outstanding Revival of a Play" and "Outstanding Ensemble Performance." The Normal Heart also received

1 nominations from The Outer Critics Circle for "Outstanding Revival of a Play: as well as five Tony Award nominations Parsons' other stage performances include, The Castle for the Manhattan Ensemble Theater, The Countess for the Globe Theater as well as The Tempest and As You Uke It for the Houston Shakespeare Festival.

Parsons was bom and raised in Houston, Texas. He eamed a BA from the University of Houston and a Masters Degree in Fine Arts from the Old Globe Theater/University of San Diego. He currently resides in Los Angeles.

Schultz announced the 2015 Walk of Fame honoree recommendation submitted by the Walk of Fame Committee.
