    Storia della Serie Una delle figure eroiche più durature nella letteratura e nella cinematografia moderna è stato Robin Hood, celebre per sottrarre ai ricchi per donare ai poveri. La leggenda di Robin Hood, uno dei più abili combattenti contro la tirannia, è una di quelle in cui i fans più facilmente si identificano, non c’è quindi da sorprendersi se il tema è stato ripreso in svariate versioni e Zorro è stata una di quelle più celebri. Zorro, traduzione spagnola di “volpe”, è la storia di un cavaliere mascherato che combatte le ingiuste leggi del pueblo di Los Angeles durante la dominazione spagnola. La sua vera identità è quella di Don Diego de La Vega, figlio di un ricco possidente. Diego ritorna dai propri studi in Spagna e scopre che Los Angeles è controllata dal Capitan Monastario, un uomo crudele che sfrutta il proprio potere per scopi personali. Sapendo di non poter sconfiggere apertamente Monastario e le sue truppe, Diego ricorre al sotterfugio quindi adotta la segreta identità di Zorro, una misteriosa figura vestita di nero, e combatte le ingiustizie di Monastario. Zorro fu creato nel 1919 dallo scrittore Johnston McCulley. La prima storia, “La maledizione di Capistrano”, apparve sulla rivista “Argosy”, poi seguirono più di 65 libri su Zorro e brevi storie. Prima della morte di McCulley, avvenuta il 22 novembre 1958 a 75 anni, circa 500 milioni di lettori in tutto il mondo seguivano le avventure del vendicatore mascherato in 26 lingue. I rancheros locali stanno immagazzinando molte pelli in un nuovo deposito ed un carico di oro sta per arrivare, invogliando i banditi a tentare il colpo. Quando i fuorilegge arrivano in città, El Cuchillo invita tutti alla taverna e offre da bere, causando i sospetti di Diego nei confronti dei nuovi arrivati. Il giovane Don li insegue fuori dal locale e sente Garcia menzionare del carico d’oro, cosa che attira subito l’attenzione dei banditi. Nei panni di Zorro, Diego cavalca nella notte per fare da guardia all’oro.
