Chalet Le Poirer Region: Les 2 Alpes Sleeps: 14 Chalet Le Poirer Region: Les 2 Alpes Sleeps: 14 Overview Nestled in the popular ski resort of Les Deux Alpes, this cosy traditional-style chalet is the ideal spot to relax after a day in the snow. With its cosy pine interiors and heated pool, kick back and recharge your batteries, ready for another day in the French mountains. This stylish self-catered chalet has five bedrooms, sleeping up to 14 people. Each has its own bathroom and toilet too. Spread out over two floors, there is plenty of space to relax, most notably in the spacious open-plan communal living area, with its fireplace and expansive sofa. Tastefully decorated throughout, it’s the ideal place to chill out with friends and family after expending energy in the mountains. After a day on the slopes, you’ll want to loosen up those muscles, so jump into the outdoor heated pool – or unwind in the chalet’s own private sauna. And there’s always the property’s large wooden terrace to relax on and watch the world go by too. Need to top up your supplies or find a bite to eat? The resort’s amenities are just opposite the chalet. And when it’s time to head to the slopes, you will only be 150m from the ski lift. Grab your skis or snowboard and head to the pistes, whatever your ability – there is usually lots of snow throughout the ski season. And the 60-acre ski park will keep all the family busy throughout your stay. Les Deux Alpes offers a whole host of exciting activities for you and the family. From ice bumper cars and glacier walks to horse-drawn sled tours and tobogganing, you won’t be short of things to do. If you’re looking for something less energetic, you could explore the local heritage museum or the nearby ice grotto. When you fancy a break from the slopes, the village of Vénosc is a short cable car ride away. It’s a traditional mountain village, with a maze of cobbled lanes for you to explore. You will find a variety of craft shops and restaurants, all within an idyllic mountain setting. The traditional wooden chalet is part of this purpose-built resort, popular with British skiers, an hour-and-40-minutes' drive from Grenoble’s Alpes- Isère Airport. The French Alps have been popular with skiers for decades, so the area is well equipped to cater for visitors of all abilities. Les Deux Alpes boasts a high altitude ski area in the Alps and usually there's a good chance of guaranteed snow throughout the season. There are a wide variety of ski runs (most above the treeline) which are served by a network of ski lifts, as well as a glacier and world-famous snow park. In addition to the skiing, you can also indulge in a variety of activities, including paragliding and if you’re brave enough, a walk along a suspended aerial footbridge offering memorable views across the Écrins mountain range. You could also view the scenery from a horse-drawn sled or snowscooter on one of the popular tours that run from the Les Deux Alpes. In the resort, you can find all that you need for your stay – banks, pharmacies, bakeries and mini supermarkets. A cinema is also open during the winter months, with a range of popular movies being screened. The resort has a great selection of restaurants, serving anything from takeaway pizza and burgers, to typical French cuisine and dishes from around the world. Most of them are family friendly too. If you’re looking to make a night of it, there are entertaining bars and nightclubs in the resort. The nearby village of Vénosc is a real treat to visit. Its cobbled lanes are peppered with craft shops and restaurants – the perfect contrast to the thrill of the slopes. And it’s accessible via a fun cable car during the winter months. From: Lee Greenwald To: FS-objections-pnw-mthood Subject: Twilight Parking lot Date: Monday, March 03, 2014 11:44:20 PM Attachments: 2013 International Report on Snow Mountain Tourism.pdf Cross-country skiing experiencing a Nordic renaissance Olympian.pdf Twilight Parking Lot OBJECTION 3-1-14 EAE v2.doc Dear objections official, I previously raised several objections concerning Mt Hood Meadows application to build the Twilight Parking lot. Though some, not all, of these objections were ostensibly addressed in their responses, they were not addressed fully nor adequately. I raised concerns regarding Meadows assumptions on growth in demand for Alpine skiing. The last ten years MHM stated continued growth trends, but actually the most recent previous two years that has not been the trend. The true growth is in Nordic skiing. The majority of the Nordic community is against the creation of the Twilight lot without a comprehensive analysis of potential future use of this terrain, and nearby Nordic trails and connecting trails. This type of analysis has not been done, and would be precluded by proceeding with the construction of the Twilight lot before all future use options have been considered. Second, I asked that MHM be required by the FS to place the funds, $500,000, for a Nordic center in a designated account for a future Nordic center building, and a restrictive timeline for construction. If the parking lot is to be built, the Nordic community should have some prior input on the Nordic facility to be built prior to the lots final approval. The response that was posted simply stated that "a" facility would be built within three years.
