PRETTY GRADE II LISTED COTTAGE SITUATED AT THE FOOT OF THE SOUTH DOWNS duncton cottage, duncton, west sussex, gu28 0lt Period charm in a downland setting Delightful period cottage with original features throughout w kitchen with utility room and larder w sitting room w dining room w two cellars w four bedrooms w family bathroom w beautiful landscaped gardens w studio/workshop and garage Description Duncton Cottage is accessed via a private driveway into a generous gravelled parking area to the north with a path leading to the house. Built, we understand, in around 1650 with later additions in the 19th and 20th centuries. The property is arranged over two floors with the principal access to the ground floor being on the eastern side of the property. In practice, an entrance on the south side into a boot room then into the kitchen beyond tends to be used on a more regular basis (an alternative entrance is located on the northern side of the house providing direct access from the driveway). The traditional family kitchen features a gas and electric fired range cooker and leads to a utility room located to the rear of the house. The remainder of the ground floor features two charming reception rooms in the form of a dining room and a sitting room with inglenook fireplace housing a log burner. There is a large storage area, cellar and walk in larder. To the first floor are four double bedrooms, a family bathroom and separate WC. Of particular note are the two bedrooms to the rear of the property which both enjoy enchanting views over the garden and the South Downs.

The QuadLower LANCING COLLEGE PREPARATORY SCHOOL AT HOVE Annual Review 2017-2018 Contents Welcome from Mrs Keep Welcome to the Pre-Prep 2-3 News from the Pre-Prep EYFS - Nursery 4-5 EYFS - Reception 6-7 n one of my newsletters this year, I promised parents I Year 1 8-9 would stop mentioning how quickly time was flying, but Year 2 10-11 I it does seem incredible that another year has passed. Nativity Plays 12-13 In the day-to-day life of school, we particularly notice News from the Prep the big events – many of which are summarised inside Year 3 14-15 this magazine – but it is easy not to notice the biggest Year 4 16-17 event of all, which is the children growing and learning incrementally but steadily. Just as they grow in stature, Academic their September clothes & shoes soon outgrown, so they English 18-20 grow in knowledge, ability and experience. And just like Drama 21 their physical growth, much of it seems to happen by Mathematics 22 stealth and at the end of the year we can scarcely believe Science 23 the progress our children have made. French 24 Geography 25 Many things make me proud of the children at Lancing History 26 Prep Hove but the thing that delights me most is the way REP 27 in which the children learn. There is a constant noise at PSHE 28-29 school, a hum of activity. We are a truly open door school, with everyone working with classroom doors open. Our children learn best by having open minds, equally willing to listen and to speak, to reflect and Creative and Performing Arts to engage.

On the community page of this newsletter, you will see that Zak and Max in Year 5 are giving of are on page 7 their own time to fundraise for St Catherine’s Hospice and we will be supporting them through various events this term. A round-up of our charitable work thus far this year is also included and shows The Lancing ABC how well the children at LPH support those less fortunate than themselves. Our school’s ‘ABC’ is invaluable in reflecting our desire lways try your best for the children here to be outward-facing. A in every task you do Today, I met a family who are choosing their daughter’s school. Having come to our Open Morning, purely as an act of comparison having already settled on a local independent school, they were Behave to others as you back to discuss joining Lancing. Their reason was in no small part would like them to behave due to the Year 7 girl who had showed them round and talked with towards you genuine compassion about her peers at school and with awareness of how privileged she is to attend Lancing Prep Hove. The family will be sending their daughter to LPH when she starts school in Care for and consider September, with the stated aim that she will grow to be like the girl everything who showed them around.
