MONDAY 14 OCTOBER FIRST DAY OF TERM 4 Newlands Schools working together (SCHOOL STARTS AT 8:55AM) For some time now the principals and lead teachers of the six Newlands schools, Newlands, RewaRewa, Bellevue, , Newlands Intermediate and Newlands College have been working together to form a framework of how we can ensure education in Newlands is the best it can be and as seamless as it can be. Last week we met with two colleagues from a Christchurch cluster of schools that work very closely together in a way similar to our plan, and it was very informative to have the opportunity to hear how the framework is working for them. Our cluster is called Te Korowai o which speaks of a cloak that covers and embraces us all. It may also speak of the beautiful fog cloak that covers us all from time to time as well! We are focusing on three main areas for education that are important at all levels, Health and Wellbeing, Deep Learning and Music.

Northern Zone Swimming Competition It was an exciting day for our 9 swimmers, who participated in the Northern Zone Swimming Sports on Friday. Children encouraged each other throughout the day. Aoife and Sophie exerted their dominance in swimming, topping off the day with an impressive win in 25m back- stroke and butterfly heat. Many thanks to our whānau who assisted us with transporting our tamariki to Kilbirnie Aquatic entre.
