~Tate of M::Ennessee ~tate of m::ennessee HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 350 By Representatives Lamberth, Faison, Gant, Mr. Speaker Sexton, Garrett, Terry, Moody, Keisling, Hurt, Littleton, Williams, Weaver, Smith, Lafferty, Jerry Sexton, Hall, Grills, Eldridge, Wright, Cepicky, Doggett, Tim Hicks, Leatherwood, Smith, Helton and Senators Kelsey, Reeves, Rose A RESOLUTION to congratulate Candace Owens on relocating to Tennessee. WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly take great pleasure in welcoming to Tennessee yet another committed conservative and great American; and WHEREAS, Candace Owens is an astute and highly popular American conservative author, political commentator, and activist; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Owens has earned the admiration and respect of millions of Americans through her activism in support of President Trump as a black woman and her perceptive criticism of creeping socialism and leftist political tyranny; and WHEREAS, she worked for the conservative advocacy group Turning Point USA between 2017 and 2019 as its communications director; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Owens hosted her weekly podcast, The Candace Owens Show, with PragerU between 2019 and 2021; and WHEREAS, in 2021, she joined The Daily Wire, for which she hosts Candace, a late night political talk show that features political and cultural issues of the day with her signature blend of intelligence and humor; Candace features celebrity interviews and panel discussions with the world's most influential thought leaders and cultural mavens; and WHEREAS, like many intelligent conservatives, Candace Owens has relocated from Washington, D.C., to the State of Tennessee, which will happily reap the positive economic benefits resulting from the depopulation of our so-called elite liberal cities; and WHEREAS, Washington, D.C.'s loss is most certainly Tennessee's gain, as Mrs. Owens will not only contribute significantly to our economy but also add to our already burgeoning pool of creative talent; and WHEREAS, in response to the question, "Why is it do you think that so many conservative media outlets and people are moving to Nashville and Middle Tennessee?" Mrs. Owens responded: "Because they're being chased out. The policies of New York and Los Angeles are no longer desirable. It's not a place to raise a family. Look at the crime rates that are skyrocketing. What you're really seeing in these coastal cities is just a manifestation of these socialist policies. The socialist thuggery as I like to say that these Democrats come up with and people realize that you just can't live like that. It doesn't work when you're incentivizing criminality. It doesn't work when you're punishing people as law-abiding citizens. It doesn't work when everything becomes an expense to the law-abiding taxpayer and everything becomes free to people that don't want to pay taxes. People that don't want to have borders and that don't want to have rules. And so, the people are fleeing. I think I read the other day that the top two states that people are running to are Texas and Tennessee. And we were itching to get to one or the other and here we are. I'm a Nashville resident and that just feels amazing to say."; and HJR350 WHEREAS, we Tennesseans have always known that socialism is a delusional chimera of the Left that doesn't work in a free society, that rules and borders are vital to our survival as a nation, and that law-abiding citizens are the very backbone of our society and without whom we cannot prosper; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Owens will serve as another robust voice against socialism and criminality as a Tennessean; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED TWELFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE CONCURRING, that we congratulate Candace Owens on relocating to Tennessee and extend to her our best wishes for success with her new show. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation. 2 HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. ___35__ 0 ___ _ ADOPTED: April 19, 2021 CAMERON TON,SPEAKER HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES SPEAKER OF THE SENATE APPROVED this 22tlf day of Ap I'.] J 2021 BILL LEE, GOVERNOR .

Fourth Biennial EAAS Women’s Network Symposium Feminisms in American Studies in/and Crisis: Where Do We Go from Here? April 28 and 29, 2021 BOOK OF ABSTRACTS EAAS Women’s Network [email protected] http://women.eaas.eu IN COLLABORATION WITH 2 INTERSECTIONAL FEMINISM AND LITERATURE: THINKING THROUGH “UGLY FEELINGS”? Gabrielle Adjerad In light of what has been institutionalized in the nineties as “intersectionality” (Crenshaw, 1989), but emanated from a long tradition of feminism fostered by women of color (Hill-Collins, Bilge, 2016), feminist theory has increasingly shed light on the plurality of women’s experiences, the inseparable, overlapping and simultaneous differences constituting their identities, and the materiality of the various dominations engendered. At the turn of the twenty-first century, this paradigm seems compelling to address fictional diasporic narratives addressing the diverse discriminations encountered by migrant women and their descendants in the United States. However, adopting an intersectional feminist approach of literature, for research or in the classroom, raises methodological issues that this paper contends with. Some thinkers have considered the double pitfall of considering, on the one hand, the text as a mimetic document of plural lives and, on the other, of essentializing a symbolical “écriture feminine” (Felski, 1989). Some have highlighted the necessary critical movement between the archetypal dimension of gender and the social and historical individuals diversely affected by this ideology (De Lauretis, 1987). Yet, beyond this tension between an attention paid to abstraction on the one hand and experience on the other, we can consider that hegemony is made of different ideologies that may contradict one another (Balibar, Wallerstein, 1991).

Wilburn 1 Ryan Wilburn Capstone Bednar 1 April 2021 First Full Draft For the December 2020 issue, Harry Styles, ex-boyband heartthrob, appeared on the cover of Vogue magazine in a blue, lacey, floor length Gucci dress. The cover received attention from far and wide, especially on social media. Vogue and Styles tweeted the cover image and a link to the cover article on November 13th, 2020 (Figure 1), sparking conversation among Twitter users, both fans of Styles and those who found issues with the cover. I analyzed a set of responses on Twitter to Harry Styles’ Vogue magazine cover photo and the ensuing controversy over gender performance and masculinity. I followed Gillian Rose’s method of discourse analysis, Discourse I, and worked through the lenses of hegemony, hegemonic masculinity, and gender performativity to answer the following research questions: 1. How does hegemonic masculinity shape the way Twitter users respond to non-normative presentations of masculinity, like Harry Styles wearing a dress for Vogue? 2. What does hegemony look like on Twitter and how might that differ from society as a whole? What is dominant in this particular space? In my experience as a Twitter user, the platform is used in an incredibly unique way. As a social media site, it affords a possibility of wide reach for posts, allowing people to connect with posts from users they have no previous connection with, even no mutual friends with. The short, quick post style allows users to post their responses to an original post with lighting speed and share that thought with their followers.

  • We Welcome Your Support in Our Nonpartisan War on Waste. It's Your
PAID ADVERTISEMENT President Donald J. Trump The White House 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW Washington, DC 20500 Dear Mr. President, In our previous two communications in The Wall Street Journal, we called attention to the lurking threat our country faces from an exploding national debt fueled by runaway government spending. We urged you to lead a national campaign to restore fi scal soundness to our great country by waging a nonpartisan War on Waste. From a recent U.S. Government Accountability Offi ce report*: “Since 2003…cumulative improper payment estimates have totaled about $1.4 trillion.” $1,400,000,000,000. Examples of improper payments are payments to doctors with suspended or revoked medical licenses or to people identifi ed as deceased in federal death fi les. A War on Waste is long overdue. We respectfully recommend that you announce to the nation that you are beginning a four-step War on Waste, that stamping out profl igate government spending is a top priority of your administration. Step 1 – Start a Transparency Revolution Publicize every White House expenditure. Direct every department and agency in your administration to follow suit. Classifi ed expenditures would be excluded. Transparency will be a culture-changing force. It will revolutionize government. It will infl uence how people vote. Knowing there is nowhere to hide will motivate politicians to earn votes with fi scal prudence rather than wasting taxpayer dollars by buying votes. We are living in the Information Age and the Big Data world. There is no reason why every government expenditure should not be public, accessible to the voting public via cell phone, computer, and iPad.

UNIVERSITY OF BELGRADE FACULTY OF POLITICAL SCIENCES Regional Master’s Program in Peace Studies Master’s Thesis Understanding the rise and the internationalisation of online alt-right’s subculture: how memes are changing political culture worldwide Author: Anesa Omeragić 515/16 Mentor: Professor Marina Simić Belgrade, September 2019 1 Abstract and keywords This paper examines the creation and the development of alt-right subculture, their language and behaviour. Alt-right was mainstreamed in 2016, and it is growing fast in the post-truth environment. Alt-right fights with stigmatisation that usually far-right movement face with the ironic and subtler language, rejection of the political correctness and use of jokes, sarcastic and nihilist approach and dark humour memes to spread their ideology. Alt-right members seem young, smart and exciting. They are gathering in board-based websites and/or forums that have little or no freedom of speech control. Lack of regulation and anonymity give them the opportunity to say what they mean, to spread the message and radicalise more. Alt-right online subculture was somewhat connected with rising of white supremacy’s violence globally in the past couple of years. Alt-right online subculture was especially compared with the four mass shootings or attempted mass shootings in the past six months – In Australia, Norway and the US. There is a danger that this trend of rising alt-right violence will continue. The public is not very- well informed about the alt-right community and its language, and it is essential to educate, especially youth, because of the danger of radicalisation.

Brown 1 Erin Brown Professor Wood WMNST 492W 4/13/21 The Politics for Survivors of Sexual Violence: A Critique of the #MeToo Movement Introduction: The hashtag “MeToo” went viral online when actress Alyssa Milano tweeted on October 15th, 2017, “If you’ve been sexually harassed or assaulted write ‘me too’ as a reply to this tweet” (Gill 1). The tweet went viral with Alyssa Milano quickly giving credit to Tarana Burke, a Black women who created the phrase #MeToo and had been leading sexual violence activism for many years (Gill 1). In the following days, twitter would become flooded with accounts of sexual violence, showing many people, for the first time, the trauma of violence: @colecat06: Me too. There shouldn’t be so many of us, but there are. Let them hear us, we’re silent no more. #MeToo (October 15, 2017, 9:21 pm) @LJonasDaughter: #metoo tried to figure out how to explain it with the character restriction. Decided #metoo said enough (October 15, 2017, 8:28 pm) @LieutenantDainty: #MeToo because while I’m not ready to share my story, I can be strong enough to admit that it happened. (October 16, 2017, 7:15 pm) @JennyS38: #MeToo brings so many emotions right now . But one overwhelming emotion is admiration towards the people who have stood up and shared their experiences Brown 2 so that everyone will realize this problem is real and can’t be buried and ignored. (October 16, 2017, 8:08 pm) (Clark-Parsons 9). The initial flood of #MeToo tweets acknowledged the pain and trauma of sexual violence with the simple words “Me Too”.

Morton Klein of the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) and Candace Owens of Turning Point USA will be testifying at a congressional hearing on hate crime. Not only does neither individual possess any expertise on the matter, they have also both engaged in bigoted and incendiary rhetoric that disqualifies them from engaging productively on the subJect. Morton Klein: In 2018, Klein compared Arabs to Nazis, and doubled down on his use of “filthy Arab” as a slur he found legitimate. Morton Klein came to the defense of Jeanine Pirro after Fox News condemns her anti-Muslim comments suggesting the HiJab is a sign of disloyalty to the United States: 1 Klein also called for the U.S. to adopt Israel’s discriminatory policies that profile on the basis of faith and background, saying: “we should adopt the same profiling policies as Israel and be more thorough in vetting Muslims.” Morton Klein leveled sexist attack on Harvard-educated actress Natalie Portman, suggesting she was attractive but stupid, over her criticism of BenJamin Netanyahu: 2 Klein regularly attacks more established Jewish organizations for failing to seemingly engage in bigoted attacks. Here, he makes the baseless allegation that the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) does not condemn the murder of Jews by Arabs: Klein also attacks the ADL by accusing them of “promoting Black Lives Matter and … the extremist anti-Israel group J Street,” prompting criticism from the Conference of Presidents of MaJor American Jewish Organizations: 3 When Fox News host Jeanine Pirro found herself in hot water a few weeks ago, after suggesting that American Muslims who wear a HiJab (including an American Muslim Congresswoman) could not be loyal to the United States, Morton Klein tweeted his support for Pirro’s comments.
