7 Aspire Holiday Apartment Driving Directions

York is at the confluence of a network of major road routes, giving ready access from any approaching direction. There is an outer ring road comprising the A1237 to the west and north, and the A64 to the south and east, with linking roads to an inner ring road that runs around the city walls. Similar to all cities, ’s roads can get very congested at times, particularly from mid-afternoon to early evening; accordingly, guests are advised to follow the directions below even if different to the directions suggested by their satnav systems, if planning to arrive between 3-7pm. For those using satnavs, the postcode for the Row car park is: YO30 7BP. Circled numbers in the table below refer to markers on the local map overleaf.

Cars. When you arrive in Bootham Row, find a suitable parking space in the public car park; there are designated disabled and electric charging spaces, and there are longer vehicle spaces along the high wall that runs parallel to Gillygate. There is no vehicle height limit. The person meeting you (the Greeter) will attempt to meet you in the car park and will have the parking permit with them. Very rarely it is possible that no space is available in the Bootham Row Car Park. In this event, it will be necessary for guests to park in one of the alternative car parks. Car Park is 400m away and always has spaces available, or Union Terrace Car Park is 450m away; both car parks have a 6’ 6” (200cm) height limit. We suggest unloading luggage, cycles and everyone other than the driver adjacent to the Aspire Building, before heading off to one of the alternative car parks. The Bootham Row and Union Terrace car parks are ‘Pay and Display’, so it is only necessary to display the parking permit provided. However, at Marygate the car park is a barrier-controlled ‘Pay on Exit’; the parking permit can still be used, however the following procedure must be followed. • On arrival, take a ticket from the machine to gain access to the car park. • Ensure the parking permit is clearly displayed in the vehicle. • On departure, proceed to the exit barrier, use the assistance button to contact the car park operator, and state the Permit No displayed on the permit (STKTnnnn) Additional Vehicles. If guests have 2 or more vehicles, we recommend parking additional vehicles in either of the alternative car parks, where the parking rate is only half that of the Bootham Row Car Park. Motorcycles. There is secure motorcycle parking within the ground floor of the Aspire building. Guests arriving by motorcycle should initially park in the motorcycle parking area of Bootham Row Car Park (adjacent to the electric car charging stations). You will need the apartment keys from the person meeting you to access the secure motorcycle parking area inside the Aspire Building. Motorhomes/Caravans/Trailers. There is no long-term car park or on-street parking for drivers of motorhomes or cars towing a caravan or trailer. Smaller motorhomes may be able to fit in one of the longer spaces in Bootham Row Car Park, as described above. There is a limited number of on-street parking bays designed for larger vehicles at Foss Islands Road (just beyond the bottom right-hand corner of the map above); however, parking is limited to a maximum of 13 hours. Foss Islands Road is about 1400m from the apartment. The parking permit is not valid here; charges for parking at Foss Islands Road are: up to 2 hours: £4.20, up to 5 hours: £6.30, and up to 13 hours: £10.50.
