The Brothers Fairy Tale Inspired Sculpture (Idea) There are over 200 Grimm's Fairy Tales

Who were the Brothers Grimm? They were not the original authors of ANY of their fairy tales o Short written introduction: Who were the brothers Grimm o 2-minute video: 10 facts about the Grimm brothers

1- Choose ANY Grimm Fairy Tale you want for this project. a. Here is a link: List of the stories including links to the full text b. Read the entire story, they are short.

2- GRIMM FAIRY TALE SCULPTURE: a. Design a sculpture that combines ALL 4 of the below. I. A character from the story. II. A location from the story. III. An object from that location in the story. IV. A symbol that is important to the story. b. Your design must make sense and flow. c. It must be able to be viewed 360 degrees (in the round) and not just from the front.

3- Sketch/Draw your idea including: a. The front b. The back c. A side view(s) d. A top view (depending on your design)

Play to your strengths, if you like honeybees, find a story that incorporates them- or a setting where you might find them. If you think you would be able to sculpt animals easier, then focus on those instead of people.

OPTINAL ART EXTENSION: Using the materials you have at home create your sculpture.

OPTINAL WRITTEN EXTENSION: After reading your story think… “There must be something that we simply don’t know that happens.” a. Write a new ending for your story. i. Be Creative. ii. Do not be lazy by writing “and they lived happily ever after.”

This is the sculpture that inspired this project. It is in located in the gardens behind Kensington Palace in London, England. It is Peter Pan, which is NOT a Grimm Fairy Tale...but a great story.
